But I did order something from Amazon that I decided to return and per the return instructions I brought it to a UPS store they package it up and ship it all I needed was the scannable code I was emailed. My husband was traveling and had left some important papers behind. I hightailed it to this UPS store. My first impression was it's incredibly nice inside. The employee greeted me immediately with a smile and as soon as I explained how I needed to get these papers delivered ASAP, he set up delivery guaranteed for the next morning. I left with a tracking number and was pleased to learn the hotel received the package first thing the next morning and delivered it to my hubby. So this is my *almost* 1000th review. I've had so many people ask me what I'd be writing my next reviews about. At first I got really stressed out over this. I mean, shouldn't they be about something extra special? A place I've never been to before? Something other than The UPS Store (no offense)? I'm glad this independently-owned UPS Store earned my historic 999th moment in history. Using Yelp to showcase great local businesses, no matter who they are or what they are, is what Yelp is all about! Sure it's also about those really extra special moments--a cruise or Disneyland...etc.--but our everyday journeys are sometimes worth taking note of and deserve our attention. This UPS Store is under new management. I haven't been here in awhile, but this particular location is my go-to shipping joint. I felt compelled to write this review, because my experience was literally outstanding. Yesterday I had a super heavy package that needed to be droped off. I pulled up to the door and put my flashers on and struggled to get the package out of my car. An employee saw me struggle a bit, and I watched them move quickly from behind the counter and they swung that door open to help me and said, "it looks like you could use some help." Oh heck yeah. Once in the store with my prepaid shipping label, these guys checked the box in and offered to tape my box a little bit better...ummmm heck yeah! While they were taping up the box, they asked me how my day was. It was a busy day, and I really needed someone to acknowledge me. We chatted for a bit, and then they told me they wanted me to come back. Oh, I'll be back! Understaffed not as knowledgeable as previuos owners ... not trained properly ...sent my Apple iPods only to be charged and lost

This UPS location is the worst ever. The Indian staff here is very rude and not helpful at all. Went there to print some stuff and he made me wait for 30 minutes and told the other old staff who works there to tell me to keep waiting while he is serving other customers. He needs to get fired because he doesn't know what he is doing whatsoever worst person I've ever met. read more

I e been in here quite a few times and generally have been very satisfied. It seems the current staff, however, is overworked and probably underpaid. They do not explain the prices very well and instead seem quick to accept your money and get you out. My shoe boxes for shipping are easy to carry, tape, label and ship but these guys make a big hassle over everything. I will return to using USPS as they snake it easier. read more

Heads up! ZERO STARS!!!! EVERY experience with this horrible store is just that. HORRIBLE. I assume that the general manager is allowing these very rude people to work there. It is a pattern. Chris is the latest of bad experiences. We came in to return a package and they wanted to charge us for the label. We normally go to the Highland Park location and they do not charge for the label. The employee that we were talking to gave us the information and then from the back of the store, leaning against a table, (doing nothing but stealing precious oxygen) is Chris who is not part of the conversation. He interjects that he is going to report the other store for being generous with their customers and for not charging the fee!!!! Who does this guy think he is? A hall monitor or the UPS police? It is NOT his business and he is NOT the district manager who I should inform. Both my friend and I told him to stay out of their business. We will NEVER try this location again. I have brought stuff in here to have them pack and send. They typically do a good job and my things get delivered on time. Last week I was in again, and the counter man, (Jay?) was helpful as usual, PLUS my son got his stuff promptly, and well packed (a glass framed poster), in 1 day despite me paying for three day de Thanks. It appears you have trained your people well. I have been in similar UPS/fedex stores that have not been satisfactory. I will be back! I used these guys again yesterday. It had been a while since I shipped anything, and was clueless to the process. Jay walked me through it, showed me the package he would use and why, plus what it cost, then showed me options for delivery that would save me money. It took a couple minutes, not very long, yet some loud angry person was in line expecting faster service I guess. Some people are simply rude. The team was working fast, there was lots of customer activity and personalization. I think the chaos of logistics is typical and these guys did a nice job. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I went here to send a package to my sister in Canada. It cost me $30 to ship, which was fine as it is to another country. However, when it arrived, they charged her $60!!! for import fees. These import fees should have been factored into the cost when I originally sent it. When you send a package using UPS, you trust that they are taking care of it so that the receiver would not owe additional fees. The cost to ship the item now is more than the item actually cost. Save yourself time, frustration, and money by going to anything but UPS. My favorite part was the guy helping me said, "We aren't USPS"... yeah, you aren't. You are by far worse. read more

Local UPS store. Trusted that rates are competitive and from personal experience - are not. Overnight letter to LA was quoted at $51.25 and Second Day was $47.43. Said NO! Went to Fedex 4 miles away and paid $ $35.10 overnight. Second Day was $12.99. Last time I use UPS Deerfield. I knew the prior time that and 11 page divine sent to Phoenix were not $75.00. The LAST place anyone wants to be on a glorious Saturday lunchtime (85 degree and sunny) ... is UPS, FedEx or USPS! Let's add to that -- a complicated chore list of photocopying, notarization and international shipping. (Needless to say, I was having an unenthused morning or running around, standing in lines and generally just being a grumpy lady lol) I walked into this super busy location which was staffed by one person ... of course! Here's the shocker though -- John (the shift worker) is magically speeding through everyone's requests and drop-offs with meticulous detail, efficiency and with an incredible smile and attitude. He was polite, informative and overall fantastic! I can't recommend this location enough -- John... you're a credit to the company! read more

Updating my review because their best employee is no longer here and it's a mess. I went to ship a package, the man was confused about my labels and only half of my package got to the destination. The other half mysteriously disappeared. The items were valuable as well. Really not happy about this. This is how cheap the UPS store is. Amazon requires some returns go through UPS. This store refuse to take an email of a pre-printed UPS label, they wanted to charge $1.08 for each label to be printed out in order to turn around and charge their crazy high rates for shipping. no thanks. Quick and painless experience! Came here twice in the last month to return or exchange some LL Bean boots. Normally it's such a hassle coming to a UPS store especially to return something. I called The UPS Store in Deerfield to ask if they were collecting packing peanuts. Tom answered the phone and he was so positive and good energy. When I arrived with 3 bags and a huge box of packing peanuts, he opened the door for me and helped me bring them in. I love people with positive and helpful attitudes. This store is a colossal rip off! Use USPS instead! The UPS store is supposed to have all UPS boxes in stock, instead they don't have them deliberately, and charge you a lot of money to buy their plain white cardboard box. If I knew this, I would have used my own cardboard box. read more

I just sent some documents from this store by UPS Ground and received excellent service. Tom was very polite, acknowledged me as soon as I walked in, and was friendly throughout the transaction. He was quick and I was out the door in 5 minutes. Granted, they weren't very busy at the time, but I got the impression that Tom would try to be courteous and provide good service under any circumstances. I haven't been in this store for some time, but, in the past, it could sometimes look a little chaotic and unorganized. Not so today - it was, clean, organized and uncluttered. Tom provided excellent customer service, so I will come back to this store next time I need UPS services. read more

NO STARS for this location. DO NOT USE THEM TO PACKAGE ITEMS FOR SHIPMENT. I recently gave them a reverse glass sign to pack and ship and it arrived completely destroyed because of totally inadequate packing. The rep who contacted us after we filed the claim indicated the packaging method was not what it should have been. Also the outside of the box had NO markings that the contents were fragile. I had a great experience last week at this store. Firstly, the store itself is very clean and looks well-maintained. Secondly, the staff seems wonderful. A young gentleman named Armando (sp?) was very friendly and helpful in assisting me with picking out some boxes, as well as bubblewrap and packing tape. My girl is doing her christmas gift-packing early, so it was nice to have some help with getting all these supplies. I don't normally ship my things via UPS, but I might soon!! read more

Horrible service. I dropped off a package at 6PM Tuesday 7/12, followed by another at 6PM Wednesday 7/13. They LOST both of them! I phoned at 10:00am Saturday 7/16 to inquire as there was no online tracking. No answer. Phoned again 30 minutes later, phone rang 12 times before a bored lady answered, wrote down the tracking #'s, and said she would call back as soon as she had more information. It's now 10:00pm on 7/16, still nothing. These were rush concert tickets for Stub Hub. Thankfully, they have already paid me for the tickets, as they can tell through their computer system they are "lost" in the UPS network. UPS could not care less. I used to be a fairly regular customer here, but I'm done. I will discontinue the use of UPS for all shipping from now on. Absolutely no excuse to lose two packages and then blow it off. read more

Great store. Friendly staff. I run a business and ship gear regularly to US and Canada and have found UPS to have the best track record and prices. FAST shipping and checkout as they do not make you write out anything like fed ex does, they type label print charge, literally in and out of store in 2 minutes. $100 free insurance on every item is something you do not see at the post office and shows the company stands behind there service. Never had a problem until a couple of months ago when I took two loaves of home-made sour cream chocolate chip banana bread to send to my brother in Louisiana. I specifically took them there for professional packing. Unbeknownst to me, the ZIP Code I had was for Baton Rouge instead of the town my brother lives in, which isn't far from Baton Rouge and is more out in the country. Instead of double checking the ZIP Code he went head and shipped them. Very long story short, the package, which contained semi- perishables that should've made it in plenty of time, was mis-delivered twice and then went missing again. By the time my brother finally got it, it was two weeks later and he had to toss the both loaves because they were creating another life form. If the Deerfield store had just taken a minute to double-check the ZIP Code, none of this would've happened. Now I'm having trouble getting a refund from them for shipping costs. A month ago I was told Corporate would have to approve it. Never heard back. Called again and was finally told by someone that was extremely helpful that I could stop by anytime and pick up the refund. I was also told that even if he wasn't there it would be ready and the other employees knew about it. Well, guess what? Yesterday I went to pick it up & after a sizable wait was finally told I'd have to bring in my receipt because they couldn't figure out exactly how much to refund. They're closed today. Maybe, eventually, I'll get my refund. I think I'll just stick with the post office. read more

Incompetent staff at this location. I sent toys to 6 kids for the Letters to Santa program at a Chicago School. I've done this now for many years and know approximately how much it should cost. The employee estimated the price to be almost $100. He told me there was a surcharge for the holidays. I knew this was a ridiculous price and ended up going to another UPS store in Wilmette and sent the gifts for less than $45. read more

I've never been moved to write a review before but this place is great! I had to drop off a very important package for work, we worked well past our office pick up time so I flew to the store. It was a heavy package and I was struggling to get it through the parking lot when suddenly a gentleman stopped to help me. He was an employee there and was actually leaving for the night but he saw me from his car, got out, and helped me inside. Wow. When I leave work I want to get out! I realized today that it was time to acknowledge something that I may have taken for granted the past 4 plus years and that is the stellar customer service I have received at the Deerfield UPS store. With my children away at college, I have used this store to ship packages to them once a week since they first left for school. I want to compliment the staff at this store for always delivering the best customer service possible whether it be to "regulars" like me or people who are using this store for the first time. Armando, John and Ari are knowledgeable, patient and professional. They are detail oriented and take the time to make sure boxes are securely packed and mailing addresses are correct. It gives me great peace of mind to know that I can count on them to do what it takes to ensure that my package will arrive intact and on time. Ugh. I took care to warn this store that I had an expensive glass art sculpture and needed it professionally packed and shipped. Unfortunately the piece was broken on arrival (Who would protect a very heavy glass item with air pocket bags?). I had insured it but for weeks was told that the local store could do nothing; it was all up to corporate. After multiple calls to corporate and the local store, I learned that corporate had sent documents to be filled out approx 2 weeks before. This went on and on until finally after over 5 weeks I received a check. I was told that UPS corporate doesn't refund 100% of the shipping charges or other associated expenses. I am waiting for the local store owner to give me back the refund for shipping. If I don't hear within 3 days, I will dispute the charge on my credit card. Not only did this store ruin a one of a kind piece, they didn't seem to care about making things right. I shouldn't be out money through their negligence but I am. UPS Corporate even said it would be good business practice for the owner to reimburse me. I am told he owns 7 UPS franchises. Beware! read more
