The people at the Closter UPS here are super nice and helpful. I think the negative reviewers are upset when they don't get their way (i.e., try to ship usps or fedex, or don't understand their return needs to be boxed, etc). They do their best to help but they don't control how the companies set their shipping rules. I've had frustrating experiences with my shipments and the people there were always so nice. They even sent me to usps once and told me to ship through there because it would be cheaper (since I wasn't worried about timing). That's pretty honest imo, and knowledgeable. Recently I was helped for apostille-related shipments and they were so helpful and nice. I come here over usps whenever I can. read more

I was expecting two packages that needed an "adult signature" and since nobody would be home, I used this UPS store in Closter as my access point. I received two emails from UPS in the morning that the packages were ready for pick up. I went to the store at 5:30 PM. I was told that the packages were not there. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I GOT AN EMAIL FROM UPS TODAY THAT THE PACKAGES WILL NOT BE DELIVERED TO THEM UNTIL TOMORROW. Why would UPS send me an email that the packages were ready to be picked up? Both the female and male (who appeared to be the owner) were absolutely RUDE. read more

If I can leave zero stars, I would. I'm not the complaining type, but this business has been consistently providing lousy customer service. It's always the owner, older Korean man who pretends he doesn't understand when I ask for a receipt. About a month ago, I had to wait for him to service four other Korean customers, while waiting for a receipt. In addition to being rude, he's simply racist! Every time I drop off a labeled box and request a receipt he makes me wait extra long, hoping I would leave. Not once, or twice, the same story over the past four years!! But today he went over the top. I brought a very large labeled box, and asked for a receipt. Lifted it so he can scan it. Then he told me to give it to driver, that was outside. I took the box out, came back in a asked for the receipt, that he still has not given me. I had to repeat several times, that I want a receipt, a print out. After that he printed it huffing an puffing and slammed it on the counter! WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS?! I am calling UPS tomorrow, but for now, I hope someone who has a choice to be served by civilized human being, instead of some rude bully, reads this and makes the right choice. read more

The Owners of the Closter UPS store took a lot of time to help me send an antique ice box to California. They were extremely professional and took time to explain my choices and charges. During the time being spent with me by one owner, the other owner handled many other customers efficiently and with a sincere attitude of being helpful. Unfortunately, my item was damaged by the carrier. The Closter store took care of filing my claim and getting my compensation. I am thankful to them and would highly recommend them. read more

Horrible experience with abusive bully of an owner. Brought in a pre-paid Amazon return. Arrived at 5:40 PM, store hours supposed to be open until 6 PM. "Closed" sign on door but I could see lights were still on and employee inside. Knocked on door, female employee let me in. UPS was supposed to scan code sent to me by Amazon and print the label. Woman could not speak English. Communicated with her by gestures. She indicated she could not scan. Apparently their computer was down or printer not working; whatever. Asked for receipt since no label was printed. Big Korean guy came out and talked to employee. He got angry because I wanted a receipt. Yelled at me and woman (in Korean). Told me in broken English-"You trust me" Right. I asked for a receipt anyway. He got even angrier, yelled "You want receipt? I give you one" and wrote "received package" on a blank piece of paper. I asked for something wth a tracking number or at least the recipients address. He lost it, yelled "GET OUT! COME BACK TOMORROW!" I said "Why? I'm here right now" He continued to yell in Korean (probably cursing me out) and at that point I took the paper and left the package and left the store. This guy is a rude and abusive bully. He needs a quick lesson in manners. This guy should not be dealing with the public. His employees are obviously cowed and afraid of him. I reported this incident to UPS Customer Service and received an apology from them with their suggestion that I also contact UPS Customer Relations and report the incident, which I did. I strongly advise all to avoid this (Closter, NJ) UPS store. If you must use it, be SURE to get a receipt. UPS Insurance requires one if your shipment is lost or damaged. Probably why he doesn't want to give you one- they aren't liable then. If you are bullied or disrespected by this guy (I think his name is "Mr. Kim") report it to UPS Customer Relations. DO NOT leave your package with this shady guy without a receipt! read more

Rarely leave reviews but I feel like this is a must. I've been coming to this UPS for the past 3 years only because it's the closest to my house, and the customer service is awful every time. The owner, the older man, is consistently rude and nasty every single visit. Not to mention that he is racist, giving priority and great service to those of his own culture. I went in today to have something notarized, to which the woman worker instructed me to sign in front of her. Then, the owner proceeds to yell at me saying that I should have signed it in front of him. When I told him that his worker had seen me sign it, he took my ID and letter and threw it down in front of me. This service is nothing new. First time I used this place and they lost one of my packages. I went back few days later and asked where my package is, he told me to take picture next time. Worst service ever and shady store. Great customer service and incredible bubble wrapping skills. They tend to go above and beyond whenever I bring an item in. I have sent extremely fragile merchandise and my packages always arrive in the same condition when they leave the store in. I will continue to come to this location anytime I need to send a package. read more

Needed 6 notary signatures. I was charged $30 for it and was not told in advance it will be that much. Usually the charge would be max $2 per signature or if i would go to the bank it would have been free. read more

Update: I was confronted by the owner of this business when I went in to check my mailbox. He said "You left online a bad review. I've suffered enough, you take it down now." I told him I couldn't change my review in good conscience because this was another example of his poor customer service. Instead of apologizing and fixing the problems of losing packages, lying about it and messing up the billing he was telling me that he is the one who has suffered. As a result I told him that I wasn't comfortable that he would maintain a professional level of service. He continued to protest and say that I was hurting him and his business. I asked him if he had read the other reviews, all of which are one star reviews with issues, and he continued to get hostile. As a result, I closed my mailbox at this location and moved to a very cordial service 2 miles away. I suggest anyone considering a mailbox in this area go elsewhere. read more

I came there to ship the teeth retainer to my grandson who was in camp in Michigan and forgot his teeth retainer at home. The worker (I believe he is the owner) gave me the price $150 for two days delivery. I called my son to ask his opinion about the price because i got a feeling that it was a rip-off. Then the worker overhearing my conversation began to write on a piece of paper different prices: first - $50 and then $42. I understood that i was talking to a crook and went across the street to the post office where i sent this package for $24.70. Shame on Closter to have such a business. read more

This is the worst UPS. They have lost so many of my packages! They lost my package to Verizon that contained a brand new cell phone and they lost my package to Fisher Price they contained a brand new baby swing. Both companies wanted me to pay out of pocket to replace the loss from UPS losing the packages. Thankfully they forgave the charges when they realized how awful this UPS location is, and I had nothing to do with the packages getting lost. Make the trip to the Tenafly UPS, trust me!!!! Horrible customer service, if you can even call it that. Came in several times to drop off packages due to their proximity to my parents' home, but each and every time I come in, I end up standing uncomfortably in front of them while the owners take their time fiddling with the computer. They clearly know I'm there because I'm literally standing right in front of them, and had said hello and made eye contact when I walked in. The last time I was there and this will be the absolute last time I go to this place, I remember standing outside the door before I walked in and said to myself, "Let's see how rude they are this time." Well, UPS Closter did not disappoint. As per usual I end up standing in front of the owner while he plays with the computer, and when he finally acknowledges me, he grills me about where I got the prepaid labels once I tell him that I am dropping off packages ("did you print them yourself??"), and then gives me an attitude for requesting receipts for my drop-off, saying that I am "wasting paper." Maybe he should have paid attention when I told him that I had two packages (which is pretty obvious had he bothered to look at them), because he ended up having to print two separate receipts. Then he goes on about how he has to pay for the sticker labels and that I should just write down the tracking number myself. HELLO, I'm making sure I have proof that I dropped off my packages in case they somehow get lost or they decide to throw them in the garbage. I honestly could care less what he has to pay to run his business, which I hope is seriously failing because it's always empty inside, most likely due to the nasty people who run the place. Went to this store on 01 Dec 2018 to send a letter to an office in New Brunswick. The man, presumably the owner, charged me $14.31 saying that it was a priority mail flat charge. He then asked for my email address where he could send email for me to track the shipment. He said that the letter will arrive on 04Dec, max. On 01Dec2018, I received an email from him and I noticed that the tracking number that he gave me was a USPS tracking number. I called him the following Monday and the woman who answered said that they are busy and will just call me back. I wanted to know why the mail was forwarded to USPS. I did not pay him $14.31 for my mail to be sent through USPS. I could have done it myself at a lower cost. This UPS store misled me and should have informed me that they will turn it over to USPS the same day, whereas, I could have done that myself for $6.00 priority mail. As of 06Dec, the mail has not been delivered yet to the addressee. This store should not be doing business this way. They are ripping off clients. I recommend for anyone thinking of using this UPS store to look for another one. read more

Long story short, they know what they're doing here and they'll take care of you as long as you're a normal human being. The owner is an older Korean guy who does not want to print out receipts. Ever. You really have to haggle with him. It's just plain bad service. I will literally drive out of my way to avoid this location for amazon returns. I will also opt for usps returns whenever possible. Wish NO STARS was an option. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS. Rude, disorganized and dismissive. Dropped package with my own label on it. Clerk took my email and phone number to send me tracking number b/c they were too busy to give me a receipt. I didn't love this but had no other shipping choice on Saturday afternoon. Package didn't arrive. Owner admitted they re-labeled it themselves with wrong street name, city and zip (REALLY!!?????) and sent it to the wrong location. Told me he would retrieve it the next day. Three days later still no package. Went back and forth with owner who was angry, rude and unhelpful. Called UPS 800 line for help and the Closter store owner hung up on THEM! Finally, got another attempt to recover set, a week later still no package. I called owner again, and this time he hung up on me. It has been 3 weeks - I have no package. Mistakes happen but this was unnecessary. I labeled the package correctly and didn't take extra insurance. $100 base amount (which I haven't received either) doesn't cover loss. Based on other reviews, this is common and the customer service end of this franchise location is completely non-existent. First, and last, UPS experience for me. So rude. The women doesn't know anything. The man is terrible. He screams, cuts you off, and talks over you when he doesn't want to hear what you have to say! Asked for an envelope and he took my items into the back and never brought them back out! He took down my information and yelled at me that he wrote it down wrong and told me next time i need to do it better. What does that even mean? When I corrected him he yelled at me. Couldn't get one word in without him interrupting me! I will never go here again. Never got any of my shopping information and the places I sent the packages to have yet to receive them. Gentlemen still exist. My car was acting up in the parking lot. My daughter was just admitted to the hospital and I was stressed. A young staff member helped me contact AAA and he actually was able to get my car started so I could get to the hospital. He went out of his way to be helpful and it was very appreciated. I wish I could have gotten his name so I could write a personal thank you note. Kudos to UPS for hiring, and retaining, such excellent staff. Makes me want to use your store. read more

Charged me $358 to ship a wooden chair of great sentimental value. It arrived in a flimsy cardboard box, that had split apart, and loosely taped back together. There was absolutely NO PACKING materials whatsoever inside the box. NO bubble wrap, NO packing peanuts, no wrap. The chair arrived in splintered pieces of wood. This UPS store should be ashamed to be in the shipping business. I was completely ripped off. I am heartbroken that my mothers chair is broken. I expect a full refund and an apology from UPS. read more
