My dining partner finished my burger and took most of the pot pie and the side salad that came with it home. Even though my dining partner couldn't finish his regular entree, he wanted dessert. After looking at the choices the server suggested the seasonal dessert which was beignets with whipped cream, chocolate and strawberries. I was reticent but was happy with the choice because the chocolate dipping sauce (of which there was plenty ) was DELICIOUS! The beignets were fried puff pastry or croissant dough that one dipped in the warm chocolate fudge-y ganache and/or whipped cream. I ordered coffee which paired well with the dessert and it was delightfully fresh. Service was good, friendly and attentive. Decor is industrial farmhouse. Clientele consists of workers from the local courthouse up to about 6 pm when we saw families starting to file in. Nice place, good food, good value.

He called the restaurant to find out what happened, and instead of simply acknowledging that they made a mistake, they claimed that I left without waiting for the pizza, which was untrue and doesn't even make sense (if they told me it'd be 5 more minutes why would I not wait for it?). I specifically asked them about the pizza and was told there wasn't one on the order. Then someone else had to drive all the way back there and our entire dinner plans got pushed back by half an hour while we were waiting for the pizza pickup. Mistakes happen, and getting an order wrong wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much. Honestly, not a big deal at all. What bothered me was that instead of owning the mistake, they blamed me and made up a story that I was too impatient to wait for the pizza. Very disappointing way to handle a simple mistake.

The only option provided to me was to get a refund BUT that I had to go back into the restaurant to get the refund so THE OWNER COULD SEE THE FOOD!!! Are you kidding me?? For drinks, my friend got the brown sugar latte and I went with the pumpkin latte topped with chai cold foam. Both were delicious, and the pumpkin + chai combination was perfect for fall! For food, we shared the fig and Brie toast and the Standard Sandwich, which came with cheesy eggs -- and you really can't go wrong with cheesy eggs for breakfast. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Gryphon Cafe. The food and drinks were great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and there was plenty of space to sit.
