Second time here first time I gave it a pass this time last Saturday night. The owner was rude.. I'm glad I was only there for the band. Food is good service not so great. Hide advice to anybody is spend your money someplace else and time. read more

WHISKY AND WINE ... FOOD UNIQUE AND FINE BACKSTORY My friend Mike received a tip on some whisky bars and wine bars in Grants Pass. Specifically a whiskey and wine bar combination with great food. He wanted to treat me to some good food in GP during my visit. So, I am game to try anything new and different ... I'm glad we did! FIRST IMPRESSIONS Upon pulling up, I noticed the parking lot was full! A good sign in my estimation!!!! He has a big truck and fortunately somebody was pulling out and he took the last spot. When I walked in, it looked relaxed. No one greeted me at the door so I walked through to look for a place where we might enjoy our evening. We settled on a tall bar table in the back porch. Heaters were on... It was comfortable! SERVICE We were greeted by a kind and fun waitress. She handed us our menus and came back promptly to take our drink orders. I'm a big water guy and throughout the entire evening she made sure my water was filled. Service was excellent! Between our waitress and the owner periodically checking in on us, we had a good time! ATMOSPHERE The atmosphere is relaxed. Tables are spaced out. There is garden style seating, restaurant cafe tables, and plenty of space to move around. They have a cornhole tournament area and fire tables. There seems to be music periodically because there was a stage set up in the back. Simple & relaxed, nice atmosphere ... like a combo of my backyard with a bunch of friends laughing while being served by excellent caterers... Easy place to relax! FOOD ... EATS We were not too hungry so we ordered flatbread and potato chip nachos. Excellent bar food with a gourmet twist. Food was flavorful and served hot! Check out my photos of the potato chip nachos with perfectly cooked moist carnitas and drizzled in a special aïoli sauce. Delishhhhh! BOTTOMLINE if you're looking for a nice whiskey bar with good food or you're looking for a wine bar with some excellent tapas in Grants Pass, Oregon... I recommend you check the Toasted Barrel out! By the way... The owner retired from the crazy corporate world. She fell in love with this old 1930's barn and turned this community gem of a building into a delightful place to sample whisky and taste wine all the while enjoying your friends! What a cool place! Friendly neighborhood vibe. The parking lot gets a little full but what a great problem for a small business to have. The food was great, we tried a fish sandwich, chicken sandwich and Caesar salad and drinks haha lots of different drinks. Their menu is generous with lots of drink options and nice variety of sandwiches, salads and other things. It took a little while to get someone to come over to the table but honestly it didn't really matter, the rest of the experience was great. read more

I think I would give it a solid 4.5 as restaurant/bar.. food choices where simple and very good, great presentation, the bar was on the 4 side I think the bar whiskey was a little rough for an old fashion but as a whole it was a great experience! Definitely going to try it again! read more

The toasted barrel is a cute bar to hang out at. It can get crowded on the weekends but if you're into a crowd, music, and outdoor space that generally has live music, it will be the place for you. If you wish to beat the crowd early afternoon is my go to. Drinks are good and food is ok. read more

It is unfortunate that a local winery owner had to ruin my afternoon by bashing this place, because the Barrel would not carry her wine. I have tried several of the Augustino Estate wines, and just did not care for them. That being said, this is one of the nicest pubs I have been to in a long time. The perfect place for an after work drink! Bartenders are great, and the owner is very welcoming! Talented cooks are fast and take pride in what they prepare. The interior is warm and inviting, and the patio area is great for outdoor fun! Highly recommended! read more

Nice place to have a glass of wine, with a large selection to choose from. The whiskey selection also is very nice. Seating is relaxed, with a bar, lounging chairs, couches outdoor seating in back with tv for game days. Have outdoor kids seating in front for food until 9 pm. Bartender bri was unwelcoming and gave everyone a death stare as if she didn't want to be there. The owner herself was at the bar as well and was just as unwelcoming. One of the most laid back karaoke nights I've ever been to yet it was too much for them. I think they may be in the wrong business. read more

Just went for the alcohol and conversation. Have a very large selection of whiskeys and bourbons. Nice atmosphere, owner very nice and sat down at are table. Played some ping pong and enjoyed some shots. Only negative is a little pricey for some of the whiskey shots. Would be nice to add a pool table. read more

Confused as to why the service and attitude of the staff here is so poor? Seems like the new ownership is confused about how to run a hospitable business. Our group was accused of bringing in alcohol when none of us did. We also got accused of doing drugs for hitting a nicotine vape in the parking lot. The erratic behavior from ownership and staff alike has left us disappointed. There are plenty of other places to drink in this town, so please avoid this one! read more

Bartenders are accusatory without evidence, escalate easily, and power trip in a way that is unreasonable and ugly. The place is unwelcoming are already building themselves a negative reputation in this town. I'd rather drink with a crocodile on menopause than have to walk back into this dump. Met a friend for the first time here. Decor inside is fabulous. Leather couch and chairs beside tables. So glad they kept the outdoor back area with games, seating, fire pit and a large bar and tv. We each had a cocktail off the menu which was good and flat bread margherita plenty enough to serve 2. Server Kelly was very friendly and made a point to spend time getting to know us by name. Food was great, VERY hard to have a conversation with about 20 people on the patio and amplified musical noise last night. The parking lot need to be repainted with more spaces had to park around the block 10 minutes away. If you're not into drinking hard liquor this is not a place to be. read more
