Popped in on a rainy day as we were in the area looking for a pub. There are a ton of options nearby, so it was hard to choose but ultimately this had the most homey vibe to it. The beer options were not my favorite, but I think they're pretty standard for the local pubs. The bartenders were lovely and inviting, clearly they enjoy where they work and each other. Not a ton of spots but it wasn't full by any means midday when we went. And the prices for drinks were very reasonable. For a tall person the bathroom was an adventure, beware! If you're in the area, worth coming in for a pint midday. read more

Horrible experience a few days ago. While eating lunch at this SoHo location I took my phone out of my purse to take a picture. I put it on the table for one second and it was stolen by a guy who walked in mumbling and put a paper over my phone. He picked the paper up with my phone and ran out. Staff couldn't care less. Ventured here twice on our only 2 days trip in London! Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the aesthetics of the pub are amazing on the outside and the beer is great! I was warned that London was not known for their food, but that the fish & chips were good. So on my first night in London, I set out on a quest to find some fish & chips. We walked around Oxford Circus and somehow ended up in Soho. We passed by lots of pubs that advertised fish & chips, but all of them had people spewing out. We spotted The Three Greyhounds, and it was busy, but still had some room for us to squeeze in. We ended up ordering fish & chips and a chicken & mushroom pie. I was definitely not disappointed. The piece of fish was huge! The batter was crispy and the fish was still moist inside. The chicken & mushroom pie looked huge, so I thought there was a ton of filling. But it ended up being a big puffy pastry with the filling on the bottom. The filling was still delicious, though. Nice and creamy and satisfied my tummy. Stopped for beer before Alladin. It is right across from the Prince Edward theater. It was busy as expected on a Saturday but fun times.

I should confess at the outset that I'm not a great fan of the Old Compton street area, which always seems frenetically busy, and is full of over-priced bars serving fizzy lager and alcopops. The Three Greyhounds is one of the few pubs in the area that serves decent real ale, with usually four or five choices (although nothing out of the ordinary - Fuller's London Pride, Greene King IPA, Timothy Taylor Landlord, that sort of thing). The interior is very small (and much smaller than it looks from the outside), and seating is limited, so it packs out quickly. The appearance inside and out is traditional, and they do a range of bar food (although why eat average pub grub in an area surrounded by restaurants?). There's also an outside seating area. (NB - watch your bags etc. in this very busy area). Unfortunately, in my experience the service has not always been up to scratch - sometimes friendly, sometimes not - hence the rating. Fine for a quick beer in an area with a shortage of pubs. read more

It's a tiny pub that knows how to serve a decent pint and where we recently managed to get a bottle of wine for less than £10 and, honestly, it wasn't half bad! There are seats provided outside for great people watching during the summer months whilst inside their area a few uncomfortable stools. Still, it has a nice atmosphere and is quite relaxed and offers something slightly different for Old Compton Street. read more

It is nice to find such a local pub in a tourist centric packed area of town. We went on a Tuesday night so it was very quiet but a nice place to settle and relax with a fine ale for a good ol' natter. Agree with the service comments - I had a Pimms, but they don't have straws so I had to try not to swallow the mint while I drank! And the barmen were quite short with us. Not to mention the lights went out several times which left us talking to each other in the dark. It's a nice small place to escape the crowds outside, but don't expect anything great from it. read more

Wow. Happened upon this place while visiting London. I typically won't step foot in a place that is not at least a 4.2 but my phone wasn't working so we rolled the dice. SO glad we did. Cool atmosphere. Great service. Tasty cider. And OMG the food. Delicious. The fish and chips were divine. The pork belly melted in our mouths. And the ribeye was cooked perfectly. Can't tell much about this bar. I had a couple of beers with friends, lovely place crowded with nice people and the waitress is a nice person. Even afterhours they have packed peanuts or almonds you can buy to eat while drinking your beer, frankly they could serve complimentry beer-nuts. read more

If you find a place to sit in here, you are lucky. Good selection of beers, wines and spirits. They play good music. We haven't tried any food here so cannot say anything about that. It gest crowded on weekends. I would come back when next time in SoHo. read more

This is a fairly standard Nicholson's pub that due to its location cannot help but be busy of an evening. Unfortunately the layout doesn't really help in times of congestion. Had a strange beer. Not a bad one, just unusually nutty. Like someone too lazy to eat and drink put beer and nuts in a blender. Named after the time when dogs used to chase hares in the area. You can see a similar phenomenon occurring on a weekend, late at night! read more

One of the few traditional English pubs on Old Compton street. Not a hint of them trying to be anything other than a standard, solid place. Reasonably priced drinks, friendly people. Very cozy inside. A lovely escape from the cold, as I recall. Living in the area it was nice to have a non-pretentious place to go to. I just love that corner table by the window looking out onto the street - a good place to sit. And surprisingly quiet during the day. read more

It's a strange pub, this one. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I think I like it. This is unfortunately dampened by the fact that I was once dumped by a very handsome Scottish man in here. It's harder to like a pub after that. But, they do a good rose, and it's a pretty cheap place - £4.20 for a large glass, £3 for a beer. on the corner of Soho that's pretty good. I do think that's where the problem with this pub lies. As it's on the corner of Soho, you don't really know where you are with it. It's very close to Charing Cross and all of those middle of the road places around there. It's not the worst pub ever, and if you can get a table outside then it's great for crazy people watching. I'm just not sure I'd make a point of coming here. If i was in the area and there was a free table outside I'd stop though. read more

The pub itself is very pretty. Dark inside with a cute little bar upstairs, and cosy tails and booths. Cannot comment on the food, as I didn't try the menu (which did look quite diverse), after paying £9.75 for a double vodka and orange juice and a glass of water. The girl tending the bar was unable to tell me why it cost me the equivalent of a meal for two drinks (one of which was, presumably, free), when I double was only meant to be an additional £1.50. I couldn't be bothered arguing over a few quid, but I drank my two pricey drinks and finished my night off elsewhere. Very disappointing. read more

Stopped in here on a day when I had nothing to do in London back in 1998. Felt like just drinking pints in an old old London pub. This hit the spot. Someone in there told me that it was a pub that Shakespeare drank in, who am I to argue with them?, it sure looked old enough to have been around 1000 years before WS. As a California kid, I loved every minute of it. The food was the perfect pub food that I wanted. I went back a couple years later and had the same experience. Nothing had changed. Stumbled into this place after considering and dismissing several others as being too touristy. I'm glad we did. There's a good (and presumably ever-changing) selection of beers and ciders on tap, and the food was solid. I had a wild boar burger with chorizo, which was awesome. Chips were good too. The staff here were very nice and the ales were great. The standard selection is there, but with a changing guest ale as well. If I wasn't into ale I probably wouldn't have given a 3*. This is an ok pub. I didn't find the staff particularly friendly, and my bag of crisps cost £1.25 (we were starving) which were then knocked straight on the floor and they asked if we wanted more then tried to charge us, so we obviously said we didn't want some anymore. I'd only been in London a week. If I were at home and needed a pick-me-up, I'd head down to the local for a drink and some good nosh. After walking from Bayswater the Three Greyhounds looked like the perfect spot. Even though I've found the food to be of varying quality, the one thing that has been consistently fantastic is the sparkling wine, which always seems to be prosecco. This was no exception. As a traveller on a budget, I decided to go for the pulled pork and chorizo burger as it was on special. OH MY GOD!!! The best food I'd had all week. The pork was tender and flavourful, with the chorizo adding the right amount of spice. A side of a onion rings was the perfect accompaniment. My only criticism was there was a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl when the onion rings were finished, it the were deep fried, so what can you expect? I guess the four stars is a reflection on my poor (yet tasty!) judgment than the taste of the food itself. Well done, guys! read more

While we had a round of drinks at the three greyhounds we overheard that the bartender was very rude to this lady next to us when he served her drink and she told him that it wasn't what she had ordered. We thought it would be an exception until the same thing happened with our next round of drinks, he poured a wrong drink and we told him we hadn't ordered that. He got really rude immediately and lost his temper and wouldn't consider he was at fault even though we all heard exactly what one of us had ordered and knew he was wrong. He shouted at us: "why didn't you stop me when I poured this then? Now I have to waste a pint!?" I told him that we don't go to bars to babysit bartenders and because he was incredibly rude we chose to leave. Don't come here unless you really want to attentively watch the bartender to make sure he pours the right drink! There is really no excuse for being SO RUDE to customers. read more
