River at high tide.

We had a great time at The White Cross pub. The food & drink were good, the service and location were great. Be prepared, when it's high tide you can get stuck because of the river water level.

such a fun ambiance this past weekend! it was getting a bit chilly and the heaters came on outside and everyone was talking and drinking and eating in harmony. i wish the pub flooded that night but the restaurant can't control the tides haha. pints were on the pricier side but given the location, that makes sense. the sunday roast was one of the better one's i've had. i loved the yorkshire pudding the most, it was super fluffy yet moist and flavorful. was a great vessel to soak up the rich gravy from the roast. i wish there were a few more slices of beef and the carrot was a bit under. overall fun end to a day out in richmond

Had a great pub lunch, it's been 30 years since we spent a summer here with our children, absolutely loved Richmond. When we saw this beautiful city featured on Ted Lasso it made us smile, and we decided to spend a day here when we were in London. Went to The White Cross for lunch and enjoyed it. Was it the best pub lunch we have had? No, but we enjoyed it. I had the Cumberland Sausage and it was ok but not as flavorful as Mother Mash.

First time visiting Richmond and I found this pub right on the river Thames. Traditional English pub with inside and outside areas to eat or drink. We quickly grabbed a few pints and went outside to sit down. For food we had the fish pie, lemon sole and ox cheek with blue cheese croquettes. Both main dishes were good and the chips were cooked perfectly. The croquettes were the low point, just mushy on the inside with no blue cheese flavor. All of the servers were friendly and quick. Side note, the pub is stuck in a COVID mode, and you can only order drinks and food from a QR code. But you also have to download their app.

The riverside view is quite nice, close, pleasant patio dining area, views from all the floors. The food is delicious. Reasonably priced. (£6.50 for a chicken sandwich, £5.50 for chips and smashed avocado). Good selection of wines and beer. See photos of menu. Be sure to order at the bar unless your seated in the dining room upstairs. Service is prompt and friendly.

This was the second pub that I visited in Richmond, and one of the reasons is that it happens to be on the banks on the Thames. Okay, not strictly on the banks because there is a path between the pub and the river, however there is a decent garden out the back which offers a pretty decent view of the river and the parks thereabout. Not a huge selection of beers available though, which was a bit of a shame, but it still has a decent character about it, and the beer garden was also quite relaxing. While not a pub to go out of your way to check out, it is a decent one for the area.

The beer was great the service was better. There was a drink the ladies had called "Pims" - we had meat 2 pitchers.

I can't say too much about this place as I never even entered the establishment! It was such a nice sunny winter day we stood out the front enjoying the weather and fantastic views of the Thames and Richmond bridge. You also get to enjoy the steady flow of people walking along the river and as we had our dogs with us everyone was stopping for a pat of the dogs and a friendly chat. They had three youngs ales and I had a winter warmer which was a nice dark ale. I've heard the food is really good too, but be weary of high tide as you can get cut off! But I can think of worse places to be stranded!

Nice place right on the river in Richmond. They have a nice outdoor area, where you can sit and watch the day go by. Quick trip inside to order drinks and food.... we had the lamb burger, which came with some fries (chips). Everything was good and fresh. Definitely a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Located on the Riverside at Richmond along side 4 or 5 other "national" pubs this is a Young's pub that retains it's character and is more of a pub than the others it resides with. This area is the place to be in the summer and get's very busy with the "Richmond" set who want to be down on the river having fun and generally hanging out, drinking and being seen. With an o.k. but not large enough garden for you to sit in you will generally find it hard to get into and get served during those summer months but it also attracts custom in the colder months with people stooping here after a walk along the river for a pint and some food. Food is typical pub grub ranging from baguettes, wraps and baked potatoes from a fiver to soups, sharing platters. Salads and banger and mash, cottage pie for circa £9. If you fancy some fresh air and a walk, do stop off here and have a bite, alternatively it is a great place to people watch in the summer and chill out with friends.

The White Cross has possibly the best location of any pub in the UK. Richmond riverside in the summer is lovely, and you can sit out in the beer garden as the water laps up over your feet at high tide. This place used to be blighted by a terrible landlord, but the recent change of management has really sorted out the decor and the service, and the food is excellent now. Young's ales always on tap - not the cheapest pub around, but worth paying for. Try to get a seat on the tiny balcony upstairs!

Great location, if a little odd in shape the White Cross is a refreshing alternative to the Pitchers & Slugs in or around Richmond. Right on the banks of the River Thames (it is not uncommon for the front to suffer from tidal flooding and swans!), the pub is 2 mins walk from Richmond High Street and serves a variety of beers as well as good, traditional pub nosh at lunch times. One to try if you want something slightly different.

Recently, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was in desperate need of a last minute venue for my birthday party. In less than a week, the staff at the Richmond Vault helped us pull off a successful birthday party for just under 20 people. Along with the manager, the floor manager, and the chef, they cornered off an area of the restaurant downstairs just for us, put together a super delicious and dietary diverse canapé buffet-style menu (at a very reasonable price per head), allowed us to bring in a birthday cake from an outside caterer, were attentive to and served our guests well all evening, managed the open tab seamlessly and professionally... and all of this with friendliness and smiles from A to Z! These guys went the extra mile! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice dinner out in Richmond or for anyone looking for a place to have a small party of any kind. Thank you guys for making my birthday memorable!

A tiny bit more expensive and some other local places, but from what we could see from the outside of the others we saw, well worth the difference. The lady serving behind the bar was very friendly and nice, without the usual self important and arrogance often seen restaurant and pub staff. The guy working there was also very nice and treated us like a friend. The food that came with seemed freshly grilled and chips that were not soggy. There is no sign of the warmed up frozen food that often comes for this price, as a result we were very impressed. The layout of the food was also pleasantly done. It has nice decor, like a riverside pub, but nicely done and not too parochial. There is some outside seating, but not a huge amount, which is why other places may be a bit more popular on a sunny day. However there were plenty of chairs and tables free for everyone to be able to sit outside in the sun. There were only two down sides, for Wi-Fi data they do not just give you a password, you have to go to thir WiFi and fill in a long online form that asks for your name, date of birth etc. Also the locked toilet roll holder was empty and the toilet roll was on a ledge 9 inches above the ground, which is probably not fantastically hygienic. A good pub restaurant if you are in the area. Everybody there seems happy and those with we saw leaving seemed happy with their choice. Well not at an extremely high level with micro brewery beer and so on, it is a perfectly nice place for those that live and are walking nearby.

The food is well priced and I haven't had any reason to complain or moan about the quality. Has a very good outside area for smokers and non-smokers alike, with tables at the front (non-smoking if I recall) of the pub and newer decked area at the back (50/50 mix of smoking tables). A bit of a mixed crowd from the young to the old, however everyone always seems well to do and simply therefore a drink / some food / chat. Since it's small it can get rather busy in there & I have ended up having to stand a couple of times in there. So if the Angler's doesn't do the type of beer you fancy or the hoards of children are annoying you there, this place is only a 60 second walk up the road and the walk should be well worth it.
