Now they are different! They are so thin - one more than the other. She was on the phone the whole time, talking on her ear piece. As an esthetician myself, I know better than to get my eyebrows threaded in the middle of a busy mall and a state I don't even live in. So you can tell me I told you so and I'll stand take it. But desperate times calls for desperate measures! It was 8:30 PM Saturday night the mall is closing in half an hour and I realize that I had NOT done my brows. And I had a really important event the next day. I stopped in and said the cliché-ish "I just want them cleaned up" and I even said please don't thin them out. I got the standard "sure, sure" and I sat down putting all faith and trust in this woman who I'm not even sure understood me now that I see my eyebrows. Quite a few things happened here. First, it was indeed the most painful threading I have ever had. Now I realize it's because she heard so much hair. Second, my eyebrows are half the size that used to be. I'm one of those people who don't grow eyebrows very fast and it takes months for it to come back in. Customer service is terrible. I asked her to clean up the ends of my eyebrows and she took off half of my eyebrow. When I complained and asked for a coupon off for my next service she just told me no. I would understand if I asked for a refund but she clearly took off my eyebrow and refused to do anything to rectify the problem. I have been going here for years but Pami moved a few months ago and I've been trying new people . Today was the worst , Manjit, did my eyebrows and completely thinned them out. I showed her a photo and was very clear that I do not want them thin, just clean them up with my current shape. She got rid of my arch and thinned out the bottom. I'm a guy, I like to get in and get out real quick without any problems. I haven't had a bad experience and I have been going here before they even leased this section in the mall. They never went overboard on my brows and I've been satisfied with the quality and price of the work. I'm relatively new to the whole eyebrow upkeep routine but I've let people experiment with wax and plucking on me before and threading seems so much more comfortable and quick. I brought my little sister here who has never had her eyebrows done and dear god, did she need them done. They were extremely full and overgrown, so I made sure to tell the tech that I didn't even really want her to shape them, just clean them up and keep them full. Side note: my sister cannot tolerate pain or even the thought of pain; she passed out at the eye doctor trying to put contact lenses in. So I also told the tech that she was nervous and she made sure to periodically ask my sister how she was holding up which I thought was nice of her. But for the people that think threading is an unbearable pain-- it's not. It lasts no more than five minutes, and if you go in there expecting it to hurt like hell, then it will. Take deep breaths and think about how beauteous you're going to look after. I always comapre it to getting a tattoo: it doesn't hurt, per say, its just a really annoying nuisance, like someone pinching you over and over in the same spot. It doesn't hurt much, but it's annoying as hell. I definitely recommend the threading spa. my sister's brows came out beautiful, not thin at all; nice, clean, natural looking brows. I gave them 4 stars because there isn't anyone in there with decent conversational english. It's very broken and sometimes hard to understand. but overall very pleased. read more

Threading in a mall. To me, that's all kinds of weird, particularly because people are walking by watching. But I was desperate and it was on the way to where we were going. So I took the mall threading plunge. And so glad I did! I've done threading a few times in the Boston area and really just left unimpressed. Double the price for half as good a job as anywhere in NYC. No, thank you! So I barely threaded in Boston. If you're a transplant like me, take heed, though. This place is fantastic! Yeah, it's typical Boston prices but they did an absolutely phenomenal job that reminded me of the best I've had in NYC. I had the middle age to older lady do my eyes. I was getting tossed around in that chair left and right. I felt like a sack of potatoes. I was worried that my brows were gonna look terrible but they ended up looking great. The Threading Spa saved my life. Okay, maybe not my life, but certainly my eyebrows. Prior to discovering The Threading Spa, I was a wax-er, and then I pluck for maintenance until the shaping gets a bit funky, and then I go back for another wax. Here's the deal, there's a booth with 3 seats. You sit in a chair, lean back, and close your eyes. They do their thread thing, comb your brows and train a bit. You sit up. Voila. Perfectly shaped brows all in about 5-10 minutes. It is NOT weird that it's in the middle of a mall. There's a half wall, so it's not completely exposed. Either way - you won't even notice it. Get over yourself, no one is going to stare and/or judge you. If anything, they'll be curious and then jealous that your brows look fantastic. At $12 (cash only), it's average for threading. I will never, ever go back to waxing. Love these ladies. read more

I chanced upon this push cart stall at South Shore Plaza near Crate and Barrel. Only $12 bucks for eye brow threading! It is more expensive than what I did back in Willowbrook Mall Rt46, NJ, but it is not bad! The only thing is u have to use your fingers to hold your forehead skin a little while when she works on your brow with the thread, so make sure u have those armpits plucked if you are wearing sleeveless. I dunno which lady is the better one but I will try the ones whom bite the thread instead of the one not. I had mine done by the one not biting the thread and I think one brow is slightly higher than the other one. Slighly :P But I will go back again for sure. cos no appt required and its cheap. read more

I'm not one to write bad reviews but I have been coming to this place for 6 years and the quality has been fine but today I got the worst eye brow job ever. I went in asking for a clean up and she took off nearly have of my left eyebrow. These are so uneven and I'm embarrassed to even post a picture here to show you all or step outside of my house. It's so bad not even filling them in helps. All of my friends noticed how on even and choppy the looked and my parents noticed the second I walked through the door. I don't know what got in to me but I decided to try my luck with threading this month. I've always waxed and before that I stood staring at myself in the mirror for hours with a pair of tweezers and a mission. The tweezing hours got old fast so I figured waxing would be less time consuming even if it was money out of my wallet. Last month my best guy friend texted me as I was sitting in a waiting area waiting for an eyebrow wax asking what I was doing. I was honest and he suggested I try threading because "he heard" it was better. He also said he "heard that there was an inexpensive place in the SSP" to get said threading. I'll try anything once within reason... This is a little kiosk in the middle of the mall right outside Macy's and Aldo. There is a Bank of America ATM right next to it which is convenient since they only accept cash. I was prepared thanks to my fellow yelpers. :) The process itself was pretty quick. It wasn't painless but it wasn't horrendously painful either. I mean I'm still alive to yelp about it. They woman that did my eyebrows for me was really nice and asked me if I was ok since my eyes were watering. In my defense, she asked me to hold my skin taught with my hands and I pressed alittle on my closed eye lid which caused the tearing. She also put aloe on it when she was done which is always nice. I do wear glasses so I didn't notice that she missed a spot that I later tweezed when I got home. I'll probably go back again since it's pretty cheap and its not that bad and my eyes weren't nearly as puffy and red afterwards. And I don't care about people seeing me getting my eyebrows done but I guess others might so just know there is no privacy. It's literally in the middle of the mall walkway. read more

I have always been very particular and picky with who I let touch my eyebrows. Since the first time I got my eyebrows threaded at SSP in their little kiosk before they had their own shop, ive been hooked. The ladies in here are all very nice and they all do a great job, I have never left disappointed (i have natural arched eyebrows so i only get a clean up). In my opinion the pain level is basically the same as waxing (my eyebrows are thick so either way it hurts slightly) but threading is quick and they put aloe on after. I have no shame walking through the mall back to my car because I know my eyebrows are flawless and it was totally worth it. Threading does cost me a couple dollars more than waxing ($12) plus the tip, but I am always more than happy to pay the extra $$ read more

So, I hate pain. No tattoos, no kids, I'm a wimp. When I got married 5 years ago, I got my first professional eyebrow shaping. I did it in Watertown mall and it looked fabulous. The only thing, the pain was incomprehensible!! I was so embarrassed shrieking and yelping in the chair in the middle of the mall. Although it was spectacular, I couldn't manage going ever again to have my brows tamed. Fast forward to today! Well, I finally washed off some of my fears and figured I try this again. I went to thread spa this morning and explained my fear of pain to the lady, I think her name is Cecelia, she was calm and patient. It did hurt some, but not nearly as much as it did the first time. In under two minutes, she showed me what the first brow looked like.....perfection! In under five minutes, she made my brows shapely and smooth. I'm so happy! Maybe I can keep this up now that the pain is tolerable. We'll worth the 12 bucks and a tip. read more

I prefer the standalone in Braintree Square but the hours at the mall make it more convenient for a post work pop in and all locations are the same price ($12 for brows). I would give this place no stars if I could. I've been threaded before other places, its always painful for me but this was the worst experience ever. It hurt worse than I could ever remember. My eyes were streaming. And I had to keep reminding the technician what I wanted. I was getting my face done minus the brows (they never do what I want so I just do them myself) She would leave spots. She was like oh you want that too? No I want a small patch of hair in the middle of cheek or chin rme.. Afterwards my face was literally bleeding, not a spot but a whole patch! I didn't notice right away or I wouldn't have paid. I have been itching to go here for the last year, but my timing was always off. They went up to $12 + tip, but boy, it's worth a trip to the South Shore Plaza (or if you're there anyway). For a "clean-up," she went a little thinner on the brows than I usually do, but the shape is so excellent I'm not complaining. The whole process took about 10 minutes. So disappointed! My eyebrows were thick and full until I got them threaded. Now they're soo thin and skinny. One is square and the other is round. Also the lady's hands smelled bad! I went here today because I'm trying to find a place closer to home. I used to go in Boston but since I moved, it's not as convenient. Overall my brows look great and it was very quick. Very nice people and I'd go there again and I'm sure I will many times in the future. They have a half-wall around their section so the privacy issue is reduced (if you were worried about that). And, there is an ATM right next to them so you can stop and get cash easily if you don't have any handy (I never do). read more

My first time getting my eyebrows threaded and all I can say is.. OUCH. Okay that was an exaggeration, it wasn't THAT bad. However I did mention that word a couple times as the lady was ripping my hairs with thin threads. The lady was was friendly and knew what she was doing. She did one eyebrow, handed me a mirror, get my approval, and went on to the other eyebrow. After five minutes (seriously!) of sitting in the chair, the results are clean, well groomed eyebrows and a happy camper! If you like your eyebrows done precisely, then I recommend threading. I've never waxed my eyebrows before because I have the fear of having them ripped all off by accident, which has happened to a couple of my friends. Waxing causes wrinkles anyways so stick to threading!! The only bad things I would have to say is the pain.. and the redness afterward. I'm a big baby when it comes to tweezing so I managed to suck it up that time. It did hurt to a point where I had to express my pain verbally.. hence the "ouches" (that's good I was at the store, not the booth) but it was over before I knew it. They put aloe on them after they were done but the redness stayed for a good 2 hours while i was shopping, which made me sorta paranoid as I was walking around the mall. I also don't recommend getting it done at the Cambridge Galleria. My friend got hers done there and it took half an hour AND she was in tears. Luckily she went the day before me so I was warned about it! Lastly, the cost was only $12 (jaw dropper). Oh and the lady promised me it wouldn't hurt as much next time since that was my first time (YAY). Okay threading spa, you'll see me and my eyebrows soon! read more

What is threading like? The lady uses an actual piece of white thread, she ties it into a circle then twists it into a figure 8 shape. She then expertly slides the twists up and down the thread to remove hairs. For eyebrow shaping I'm not sure if I like waxing or threading better. Threading is more painful than waxing imo. On the other hand I have had my skin damaged by waxing before. In the end I think the most important thing is the shape of the brows. In the 2 times I have gone here, one time the shape was really good/even and the other time a little uneven. At $12 it's a little pricey. I like that the lady uses hand sanitizer gel between customers. This is a South Shore Plaza push cart near The Limited, Macy's and the escalator. read more

Threading is amazing. I think its a little weird that its in the middle of the mall, but I havent found a place here that does threading. They are quick and it always comes out cleaner then waxing in my opinion. It is def worth trying out and its inexpensive. I always get my eyebrows threaded, have been for 10 years, I love the shape and the outcome. I went to the store front, normally I go to the kiosk in the middle of the mall. I went to the girl who is always there, middle chair off to the right. I know better than to see her. She destroyed my eyebrows and my skin. It has been two weeks since I've gotten them done, my eyebrows literally have welts all around them, I look like a teenager hitting puberty for the first time. They will not go away I don't know what she did or what she used but don't go see her. I have to wait until this all heals to try again but I am so not happy. read more

I was at the South Shore Plaza last month and I saw this so I thought why the heck not. The lady that was the only one there immediately say me down once I walked in. She was very nice and talked to me throughout the threading. She showed me how to hold my hands above my eyebrow and applied aloe on it afterwards. It was quick and she did an excellent job. My eyebrows looked so great. It was my first time doing anything to my eyebrows and the sweet lady really made it a nice experience. However, I went again today and I'm extremely disappointed. I still cannot believe how bad it was. First of all, when I walked in no one addressed me or welcomed me. I just stood there and stared around until a woman later on lead me to a chair. She looked very unhappy and took a long time to set up. She told me to hold my hand above my eyebrow and began threading it. After she was finished I looked like a mess. She didn't take her time and rushed through it. One of my eyebrows were a lot larger and bushier than my other. I payed and left. Later on I realized how horrible my eyebrows were and decided to go back and ask her to fix it. So I explained how it was uneven and I didn't like it. I don't know why but she didn't apologize and she acted even more rude than she was before if that's even possible. She to me to hold my eyebrow and I did as she told. Then she kept saying "You're holding it wrong" over and over again. I told her "I don't know how to hold it" but she kept telling me that I was "holding it wrong" until finally she grabbed my hand and placed it where it should be. As soon as she was finished I said thank you and left. All I know is that I'm never going back there again. I don't want to take that chance. I guess I just got lucky the first time I came.
