Our server was really friendly and the ambiance is nice. The food was pretty good but I was a bit disappointed that my short rib was mostly fat. I don't mind a fat cap but this was way out of balance. My husband got the steak, he said it was ok, but overcooked. I would give it another try and keep my fingers crossed that the quality would match the price next time.
What could be better than great food, with a great view overlooking the mountains - not much in my opinion! I loved the half serve of the terrace salad, as well as the sweet and spicy wings (they weren't that spicy at all). My husband enjoyed the fish and chips too. We only had to wait about 19 mins on a Friday night. We would definitely recommend visiting if you're in Hanalei for dinner.
Food was delicious, service was fast, and the ambiance is lovely! Especially when it's pouring and you need a place to hide out from the rain! Had the poke nachos, the Brussels sprouts, the ahi burger, the lava cake, the poke bowl.... All phenomenal! Our waitress was wonderful!!! Highly recommend!
Fun happy hour with fair prices on food and drinks. The drinks and food we ordered were delicious! Try the poke nachos, they are very good! The coconut shrimp was just okay. The crab cakes were good. Our service was okay. If you are not in a hurry go here, the views are fantastic!
Quality delicious food and so many options, best happy hour in the area and the service is top notch! Shout out to our server Gage! We come here everytime we're on the island and will continue to do so!
The price and the food were excellent! You can't go wrong with the Terrace or Wagu Burger. The house Veggie Burger was ono (delicious)! We especially loved their fries and a delightful welcoming staff: Tyler. Another reason I loved their burgers was due to the engraved buns- wow! I just loved that personal touch!
Fantastic. When you visit Hawaii you start to get used to how expensive everything is. The worst is when you are already paying high Hawaii prices for a meal at a restaurant and the food and/or service is mediocre so you walk away feeling extra ripped off. NOT HERE! Probably because this isn't in a fancy resort area or with a view of the water. But it has a nice view of across the street to the mountains from the upstairs dining area. All the food was excellent, great portions and surprisingly reasonable prices! Burger was excellent. Best fish sandwich I've ever had in 10 trips to Hawaii, they cooked the fish medium rare and it was a very big piece. Note that it's open air with no A/C so can feel a bit steamy on a hot day. Wish it were easier to find more places like this throughout Hawaii.
This place was really nice it was perfect for a romantic dinner especially with open Mountain View. The wait wasn't long but we did come for early dinner. We got a fish dip which was really yummy and fresh. The chips were stale but they brought out wonton chip to replace them. The drinks were very good I love the ube drink. My husband enjoyed the margaritas.
Nice Asian fusion restaurant located at the Ching Young Village, across from Hanalei Center. Great restaurant for couples and families. My husband enjoyed his braised short ribs and rice. The ribs were delicious and tender. I liked my poke order which was so tasty and filling. I ordered with salad instead of rice and minus wasabi. Our hostess/server was nice and attentive.
Beautiful views and excellent food and cocktails. Our server was very good as well - super courteous, attentive without being overly so. We just popped in for snacks; the wings were so good we got a second order. The smoked fish dips was also very tasty. We had other dinner reservations that night but plan to head back for dinner. The menu looked really good and interesting.
We went a little after sunset so we didn't get to see the light but it was still very nice to be seated on the second floor with open air to see the sights of the mountain side. The workers were very sweet and frequently checking in on us! They gave us a rec too when we asked but too bad they ran out that day! Each bite of food was delicious!!
This place is in the cute little town of Princeville which has some shopping and is a 10 minute walk to a beach when you're done with the shopping! We had a wait of like 30 minutes because we wanted a window seat and it was worth it! The view out the window to what honestly looks like it does in Jurassic Park is so good! Okay to the food... I got the curry and literally amazing. I will be coming back here specifically for the curry. My fiancé was over seafood for a little bit so he ordered the waygu burger and he loved it. Overall, really good place and amazing service! Worth the wait, has an amazing view. What could be better? Will be coming back! read more
Walked in on a Friday night at 5:30 PM and there was no wait for 2 people. I tried: + Ube pina colada + Peruvian style ceviche + Organic greens, beets and goat cheese + Mahi Mahi and tiger shrimp + Lilikoi cheesecake Highlights were the pina colada and cheesecake. Shrimp was also great. Ceviche and salad were solid, though the chips that came with the ceviche were mid. Sit by a window for amazing mountain views! read more
This spot is hard to miss when venturing into the Hanalei Bay Area! Super cool views of the mountains, and a great vibe inside! Sat at the bar area after a day on the beach and were met with great food, prompt service, and well crafted drinks! Had to dine in a second time on the trip to try more of their menu! Veggie curry was my personal favorite. The Burger was a close second! read more

Came here for the first time with Kauaian north shore resident Joe K who said this has been here for a long time but changed ownership about a year ago...and he made sure to mention the change of hands was a great improvement. We just planned on a happy hour visit (230 - 500pm daily except wednesdays since they're closed) so ordered a couple of the happy hour margaritas, guava for me and mango for Joe along with a few things from the pupu menu. Joe's been here quite a few times so he insisted we get the Pok'e Nachos, this was really good. There was a good amount of pok'e that tasted fresh and sat atop fried wonton chips. Small cubes of avocado and some pickled red onion topped it all along with sriracha and wasabi aioli. Super tasty for sure and my favorite of the 3 pupus we ordered. Besides the Pok'e nachos we got the Teriyaki chicken skewers and deep fried Calamari. Both of these were good as well with the skewers edging out the calamari...the skewers had a heavy sear which gave both the chicken and the red bell peppers a nice charred hint. Mid-meal we refreshed our drinks with a Mai Tai for me ( they call it a Tai-Mai Bikini ) and Joe got a Lemon Drop. Once again both were really good. I liked that they used Koloa spiced rum as well as a Koloa dark rum float and the traditional orgeat in the Mai tai. Service was friendly and attentive and the server even recognized Joe and thanked him for dining here again. Hours are 11am to 9pm daily except Wednsdays. read more

Would come here again and again and again! Lovely atmosphere and service was great. The food is delicious. I had a poke bowl and my husband had the tuna sandwich. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. I loved the sauce on the poke bowl. Drinks were delicious as well and they had a fabulous drink menu so it was hard to decide what to order! read more
Ended up coming here with some friends and my girlfriend and overall this restaurant seemed to be targeting a nicer, more upscale type of vibe. Not something terribly dressy but definitely a nice place to go to for dinner. Service was good and our waiter was friendly, so no complaints in that department. My party got a few appetizers: Crabcakes, Poke Nachos and Ceviche. Of the three, the crabcakes were my absolutely favorite. They were cooked beautifully and had nice texture, used real crab, and their flavor was not overpowered by the salsa nor the aioli. The ceviche was deliciously refreshing! Unfortunately the nachos were subpar with an imbalanced amount of ingredients provided in the dish. For mains, I got the Braised Beef Short Rib and it was the clearly the best dish in the group. The short ribs were beautiful cooked, tender, and fell off the bone, one hardly had to chew the meat. Flavors overall were on point and played really well with the mashed potatoes. The rest of the party got the Salmon Penne and the Bulgogi Bowl. The bulgogi bowl was not enjoyable at all to me. I felt the bulgogi was on the bland side. The penne was just alright. The salmon was particularly overpowering in flavor, so the flavor of the white sauce got lost. I really enjoyed my food selections but some of the other things I got to try were not on par. Overall I'd rate this place a 3.5/5 average, rounded to 4. read more
When my husband and I arrived, this place was really busy. They told us the wait would be 15 minutes, but it only ended up being about 5. Once we sat down, we were given waters and greeted by our waiter Carlos. He was super kind from the first interaction until the end of the night. We were ready to order our drinks and meals once he got to us. We got a Diet Coke and Sauvignon blanc to drink. The Diet Coke was very good! We ordered the calamari to start, and the seared ahi and the lobster and shrimp raviolis as our mains. My husband got the seared ahi cooked medium rare, and it was absolutely incredible. The Okinawa sweet potatoes on the side came with a great sauce on top and were really unique and delicious. The asparagus was good too! The lobster and shrimp ravioli were perfect. They came in a sage-garlic butter sauce that was out of this world. The garlic bread was a yummy addition. Our drinks came out and then shortly after our entrees. When Carlos saw that those came out before our entrees, he immediately went to the kitchen to make sure the calamari came out quickly. I wasn't planning on mentioning this in the review because it was a nonissue for us, but they ended up comping us the appetizer. This was above and beyond hospitality to us. I absolutely loved the vibes here! Everything from the people to the food was awesome! We hope to be back someday!! read more
The Terrace in Hanalei Bay is such a gem. The food was super yummy -- fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want after a long relaxed day on the North Shore. Our server was incredibly kind and welcoming, the kind of hospitality that immediately puts you at ease. The restaurant itself is cozy and comfortable, with that true North Shore Hawai'i vibe -- breezy, warm, and beautifully laid-back. It feels like you're tucked into the best part of Kaua'i. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, great people, and that unmistakable Hanalei magic. read more
What an expensive place, and not worth the hype!! They give good service, but it's not what I would call perfect or worth 20% tip. They don't even give you the opportunity to reconsider a lower rate; they start right at 20%. Talking about tipping culture going bad. They gave me a curry dish for seafood, which was very salty. I don't think their drinks are that great, and I really resented that tipping so high. I can't even say that you pay for the view, because the view is not that great. The bathroom was dirty, and I had to tell the attendance to keep an eye on it because there were towels everywhere. I would never go back there. read more

Great ambience in this restaurant and bar. We went on Fathers Day so the place was packed. My sister in law had called to make a reservation and asked for a window seat and yes we were seated by the window with a beautiful view. Our server Sol was great very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious great wings and fries. My brother in law had a steak mushroom and pasta dish which was delicious and plentiful. I had a "Terrace" salad - grilled romaine with olives tomatoes and avocado it was fantastic. Im giing to try making it at home. Hubby had a burger he liked it but to me it was dry. Only disappointment was they ran out of the smoked ono dip. Would definitely go back when visiting again. read more

5 stars for service and the best server you could ask for! Noah was so pleasant, friendly, happy and genuinely interested in us. He was the highlight of our meal here. 4 stars for the view and ambience. We were seated at the front so we could view and mountains and have the lovely Kauai air on us. 3 stars for the food. We ordered the grilled Terrace Salad. Not great, but loved the generous topping of tomatoes and olives, but really bland lettuce as not much dressing to speak of. I had a topping of fresh grilled mahi-mahi mani, but it was seriously over cooked and dry. Thank you manager for removing the charge for the dried out fish. Go here for the cocktails and view, stay for the bar food if you choose. read more
In a blind taste test of the food between here and Kalypso down the street you and no one else would be able to tell the difference. Both places serve about the same genre of bar food. Ordinary recipes and quality even at their best. What makes The Terrace here more enjoyable than Kalypso is the 2nd floor location and the far superior service. Bambie and I got a front row seat at the edge of the lanai with the view of glorious downtown Hanalei. The evening breeze was gentle. We also won the experience jackpot with Noah as our server. He's friendly, engaging, authentic, cheerful, helpful honest and true. In my many, many years of visiting Kauai he's among the nicest persons I've ever met here. Bambie ordered a cooked romaine heart salad with a piece of grilled mahi-mahi on top. The fish was overcooked so much that she left 1/2 uneaten of it on the plate. Management did take the charge off the bill. My fish and chips were unremarkable. Same overcooked mahi mahi in a batter coated and fried version. I liked the crispy french fries. I shared the romaine salad. Didn't like it much. The cooked head of lettuce was not enjoyable. The bar has plenty of featured drinks. The wine list is short. I did drink two different glasses of wine, both European and decent. The Terrace benefits of elevated ratings by dint of location. Everyone loves the restaurants in an exotic vacationland. I call it the halo effect. Everything glows a little brighter when you're visiting a pretty place far from home. Indeed, only a person with a stone cold dead heart would loudly complain about The Terrace when it is smack dab in the middle of this Hawaiian paradise. So, if you are a food snob reign in your culinary expectations. Just arrive hungry and thirsty, consume thoughtfully. Enjoy the ambience. Aloha! read more

Delicious food, great views (if you get a table in the main area), and fast service. We didn't have a reservation and it was about a 15-20 min wait time to get a table. The menu is varied - you get a mix of pastas, currys, burgers etc so they had something for everyone - and vegetarian/pescatarian options too. The food took a while to come out but it was very busy so it was understandable. We tried the seafood curry (very flavorful), mahi mahi with tiger shrimp (the mango sauce was a very delicious pairing with this fish), and the veggies penne pasta that came in a avocado coconut sauce which was the favorite dish for everyone on our table. We also really enjoyed the furikake fries. Overall - a great dining experience, prices are kauai standard so definitely on the higher side. read more

Decided to do the puppy platters and we were not disappointed! Started with the Brussels sprouts- A+, then the furikaki fries- yummy salty crunchy, and the poke nachos. We were full and happy. Our server Sol was so sweet, she gave us recommendations based on what we were looking for, she was attentive and timely and even took the time to take our picture for us. She really had a wonderful demeanor and made our experience very pleasant. read more
Finally, a solid meal while on this island! Having been disappointed multiple times since arriving three days ago, we gave The Terrace a try thanks to the recommendation of our shuttle driver. She said, "They have a good burger," and she was right. They also have the only good iced tea I've had since arriving here. I don't understand how it can be so hard to brew tea. The Cubano was not as good as the burger, thanks to the pork being a bit on the tough side. We asked for salads on the side, rather than fries. The greens were fresh, but all they did was throw some grated carrots on top and tack on a $3.00 up charge. Good grief. Service was absolutely outstanding, and we were fortunate enough to be seated at the window , which was appreciated. The place was clean, comfortable, and easily accessible. I'd go back for that burger and tea. read more

We stopped here for lunch last week and we enjoyed it very much. My husband had Cuban sandwich and the Pussy Grabs Back pale ale. He wanted to order that beer just so he could say that out loud. Lol I had the salmon and it was excellent. We would dine there again next time we're in Kauai. read more
