I went to the 10 Spot today for a friends birthday to get gel manicures with her. They were a few minutes late getting started but that was no big deal as we were not in a hurry. Their tools were clean and so was the entire salon. This was my first manicure since I was 14 years old and I am now 28 so yes it has been a very long time. LOL! I was very happy with how my manicure turned out. The colours I picked were called Emerald lights and sir teal to you. These two colours gave my nails a sort of mermaid look which I absolutely love! The Ten Spot is a trendy nail and wax bar in trendy Westboro. It has a great atmosphere and is super clean and the staff are all very pleasant. Cool, yet relaxed vibes at this place I have been with a group, to do manicures as part of a bachelorette party. Everyone's manicure turned out great and we were all really happy with the service. Great colours too! Our hands all felt nice and relaxed afterward. We were all offered beverages and they put on Bridesmaids for us to watch while we enjoyed a bit of pampering, which just added a little bit to the experience. I also had my very first pedicure here. I went with a friend and we both enjoyed ourselves with a bit of super yummy David's tea. Fabulous first experience, my toes were so sparkly and pretty after! I've also had my eyebrows waxed, which was a super quick and easy experience. I actually really liked the chairs they used for this service, they tilt all the way back and are pretty comfortable. Even though I was only going in for a super quick, 10 min service, they took my coat and offered me a drink. Overall great service from all members of staff and I love-love that I can book appointments online and even select who performs my service. read more

I'm very disappointed in the Ten Spot now. I've been going here for years and always received great service - I've had mani-pedis and waxing done here. But the quality of service has gone down severely in the past couple of years. My last two brazilians were embarrassing and uncomfortable, even though I had made sure to get different aestheticians. The first kept commenting on my bikini line (I had told her not to worry about that as I shaved it myself, but she insisted on tweezing and saying 'this isn't even a waxing appointment anymore'). The second was clearly an inexperienced waxer and I left with a giant bruise. Especially given the vulnerable position you're in during a waxing, I expect more care and professionalism. I was honestly so excited to try this place. I've been getting gel nails done for years and was looking for a new nail tech since my regular girl moved away. From the moment I walked into the ten spot I was unimpressed, first by the girl at the front desk who barely looked up from her phone to greet me. Next, I came in with a specific nail design that I wanted from my university convocation (solid blue with marble accents). I've gone to countless nail salons where being able to do nail art is the standard and based off of the ten spots social media account they are capable. So I show the nail tech (don't know her name) an exact picture of what I want, and she continuously says "I can try" in an unconfident tone. I explained that this was for my graduation ceremony so I wanted them to look perfect, given her lack of confidence I opted for something more simple (again disappointed since I could've gone else to get what I wanted). Next, I paid for the manicure gel nails, plus removal. I've never heard of a salon charging extra for removal when you are getting shellac put back on! But anyways, the whole point of paying the extra money for the manicure is to not have cuticles, or hang nails, I still had both.. and she didn't put the nail polish all the way up to where my cuticles are so it already looks like my nails have grown out about 1 week. Needless to say, I was super unimpressed, I ended up soaking them off myself and redoing them the following morning because they looked so rough. All in all, I ended up paying 70$ for absolutely nothing which is a ridiculous price to begin with. I will not be returning here or to any other salons in this chain, and will also be warning my friends to stay away. PS: go to divine nails on Merivale and ask for Lyne, she's incredible! read more

Holy shit man! I had no idea waxing could be so painless and still beautiful! Petra did my eyebrows in a natural way, something no one has done for me ever. I have bushy Persian/Arab eyebrows and I've always wanted to have clean but natural looking eyebrows and she did that! They look soooooo good right now i wanna take selfies at work I've never been happier honestly and the price is as good as any other place (20$). The area is gorrrrrgeous so it's worth the trip. I am definitely coming back when I have special occasions because I know I can trust them with my eyebrows. She only waxed the area once and then plucked and cut and they looked amaaaaazing. Normally I have had great experiences here but this last time I had an esthetician named Jessica she got mad when I asked her to take away hairs on my brow wax and because she was pissy she went super rough on my upper lip and tore skin now I have this scab on my face.
