It certainly was an out of the ordinary experience! The maximum capacity is 600, and I would say it appeared to be true. We managed to get seats at the bar and the bartender was very friendly to us. He even gave me a postcard, aw, thanks. read more

What an atmosphere this place has. The service was excellent and friendly and we also enjoyed the pastrami sandwich and the ham and cheese. While both were good, that pastrami was maybe the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. Excellent!! read more

This place is worth the hype! My friends and I went in to Temple Bar thinking we'd have 1 drink to say we've been there and then head to a less touristy pub. However, we ended up staying several hours because of how much fun it was! The live music was great, the people were nice, and the service was efficient. The bar was spacious with several rooms and a nice outside area to escape the crowds. If I return to Dublin I will definitely be going back to Temple Bar! read more

The most well known bar in Dublin, and from my understanding, one of the oldest, if not THE oldest, it is a fun atmosphere that is also LOUD, expect to shout here over the lively music and the patrons all having a pint. That being said, the people are very cordial (for the most part), and everything tastes fresh and delicious. The bathrooms are also quite clean, but be careful walking to them as the steps are sticky and tight. Perhaps that is for the best with all the drinking you will do here. No trip to Dublin is complete without stopping here, you must do that. read more

Sure, it's touristy, but isn't that why you came as a tourist to Dublin? Good service, plenty of pints to go around. LOUD, did we say LOUD - so the food is an afterthought, but this is a place you HAVE to put on your Dublin list of places to try. read more

While known as a tourist spot, my wife and I stopped in for a beer and we met the bartender named Gary. We had an amazing time and Gary made our afternoon unforgettable. Gary was so friendly, social , and fun to hang out with. When you stop in make sure to ask for Gary and tell him the other Gary (from US) sent you. read more

This place is historic/legendary - and for very good reason! The vibe was amazing - complete with standing room only and a live band! I cannot tell you how funny it was shoving my backpack and I into this bar flooded with people on a Saturday night, but during my time I met a Czech person, Brazilian person, Manchester person - it's just a melting pot of friendly people and was super fun, even when I wasn't particularly dressed for a night out! It seems like this place is always jam-packed no matter what time you go but I managed to find a seat at one the many bars inside. The bartender was really sweet and super friendly despite how busy he was. Overall, it's just a good experience and I definitely recommend checking it out when you're in town. read more

I respectfully went up to the door sober, I had just landed in Dublin an hour ago. I pulled out my I.D. Because I am clean shaven and offered my the bouncer my I.D. (I am 27 years old) the bouncer told me "No you can't come in, you've had enough to drink tonight lad". Absolutely ridiculous, he couldn't tell sober from drunk. Then proceeded to let a large group of well under 18 years of age in. Don't waste your time, this place is a filthy tourist trap and only accepts young women as part of their primary attraction. Spend your money elsewhere, trust me. Please, it may have been an amazing place 20 years ago, but now it is a horrid place that only young women inside past 9pm. read more

Super cool just to visit The Temple Bar. Shoulder to shoulder crowded at most times though.

Don't listen to all the hate. You need to check out The Temple Bar for sure if you've never been. However, don't go in the evening when it's jammed pack. Go during the day when it's near-empty to explore its decorations and quirks that make it such an iconic place. This way you'll also avoid the throngs of drunkards and pick-pockets. Even during off-peak times, you'll may find some live music and it's just nice to have lots of space to yourself. I know the price of a pint here is ridiculous, but you're paying for the history and atmosphere. Therefore, only get 1 or 2, and be on your way to another awesome Irish pub! read more

As a tourist, my experience at the temple bar was fun. I visited during a busy evening, it was really crowded but worth the struggle. My friend and I were able to grab beers and enjoy the live music. Everyone was enjoying the music, chatting and drinking beers. People looked so happy to be jam packed in this holiday wonderland bar. The photos are from our 2019 visit during the holidays. When planning our tour to Ireland, every Top 10 had The Temple Bar and reasons why you must go there. It really is a fantastic place to go and be surrounded by lively crowds; IF you can get in. We did not spend much time inside on two occasions. We did get to sit outside for a couple of drinks; Irish Coffee for the girls and beers for the boys. So why 5 Stars if I couldn't even spend time inside. Well because The Temple Bar also gives you a lot of street entertainment in the crowds it attracts and the fact that there are plenty of other bars in the area. We found one of our favorite bars and meal around the corner because we just had to do our own bar crawl. It was the epicenter of our evening and I can't dock them for being popular. Again, seeing the Argentinian rugby team loudly chanting after too many beers or seeing the soon to be bride walking with the girls and her sash is a similar ordeal to Fremont Street in Las Vegas or Bourbon Street in New Orleans and the center for all this craziness; which we totally enjoyed, is The Temple Bar. Inside the bathrooms are available and the crew try's their best but with so many people coming in and out, I imagine you will have to wait like we did. A MUST GO location or more accurately, event! read more

It is as the locals try and tell all the tourists - it will be crowded, slightly priced high, tough to get food, and even tougher to get drinks. Try and stop through for a photo and hit it early to have a chance inside. The music was awesome, I'll give credit where it's due. We got ripped off for getting charged for food, followed by them saying they would issue a refund, never came. I'm just telling myself it paid the bands way a bit :( read more

As the center piece to the temple bar area and a major tourist attraction, I was not expecting the best food only the best atmosphere and as it turned out, they both shined on this visit. My choice was the Ruben and the corned beef while not as good as mine, came in a close second with excellent, thinly sliced, tender, not salty and plenty of it. The bread was nicely toasted with fresh sauerkraut and pickles. The place was packed and the music was great, everyone having a good time joining in for the choruses with a few dancing a jig or two. The place was flooded with servers and were efficient and capable. Worthy of 1,2,3 or more visits. read more

If you are visiting Dublin for the first time, you have to pay a visit to The Temple Bar. It's an iconic landmark in the Temple Bar district of Dublin City Centre that has served pints, pours, and food since 1840. Visiting the thoroughfare requires going to this bar, venturing inside into one of the pub rooms or the outdoor patio. We have visited Dublin twice, and both times we make a stop at the Temple Bar. We also like staying at the Morgan down the street, so it's a five-minute walk on Temple Bar to the pub. The first time was before the pandemic, where we enjoyed some pints as some local band performed some music from the stage at 11 in the morning local time. During a regular occasion, you can expect the Temple Bar to be packed from noontime onward, so make sure you come earlier if you're looking to score a table. The second time was when Ireland was only allowing outdoor seating, so we had to sit on stools at one of the available whiskey barrel tables. But still, it was nice to chill outdoors on a day where the skies were blue, and the sun was blazing. The staff was always friendly as we ordered our drinks. If you are in Dublin from the states for any occasion, you need to stop by The Temple Bar. read more

We landed in Dublin, checked in and, Because we're American, headed straight to then Temple bar District. We stopped for a couple drinks and the roast beef sandwich. Our bartender, IAN K was 10/10. Gave us a proper welcome, a proper pint, a proper whiskey, even traded in our leftover $$ from the UK. We laughed he and told us to feck off! Had an amazing time and look forward to hopefully stopping back before we head back to the states. read more

Is this place kitschy and geared towards tourist? Is it loud AF with limited space to get around to ordering your drinks? The answer is yes to all but do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in this loud but iconic bar and get yourself a very overpriced pint of Guinness. What happened at this venue was shocking and completely unacceptable. The bouncers on the door in Temple Bar were violent, aggressive, and utterly unprofessional. A relative of mine, who was doing absolutely nothing untoward, was assaulted by door staff without justification. Instead of de-escalating a situation, they escalated it to violence, punching him and causing serious injuries. This is not "security" -- it is thuggery. No customer should ever fear being physically attacked simply for being present. Temple Bar already has a reputation, and experiences like this only confirm the worst of it. The actions of these bouncers show a total lack of training, accountability, and basic human decency. I would strongly warn anyone to stay well clear of this place if they value their safety. This incident should be properly investigated, because behavior like this has no place anywhere, especially in a busy tourist area. GRUNTS read more

Obviously a must visit while in Dublin so don't be surprised by the prices and large crowds as it is a touristy spot. I appreciated how quickly I was served and the drinks were great. The only caveat I have is that when I went to place an order for some food in one area they told me I'd have to go elsewhere but then a family of 4 went to the same spot about 5min later and was able to place an order for food. The music was great and it's always worth visiting! read more

Music is live, creating a great atmosphere but while you may not worry about pickpockets in here, they will certainly rob you at the bar! €10 for a pint of Guinness AND €17 for a porn star cocktail!!
