Kehoes consistently came up on searches as one of the pubs to visit while in Dublin. We went to Kehoes twice, but our first visit wasn't successful. It was wall-to-wall packed on a Tuesday, which was absolutely mad. It was so crowded that we decided to ditch the place and go elsewhere. On our last night in Dublin, we checked out Kehoes again and was able to get a corner at the upstairs bar. Kehoes really lived up to its reputation. I had a blast drinking, chatting, and laughing away with friends. I could've sworn I heard someone playing guitar the night before, but I was told by the bartender that Kehoes is a talking bar and has been for years and years. That being said, you won't find live music there if that's what you're going for. Kehoes is as classic of a Irish pub as it gets. Don't miss it when you're in Dublin! read more

Our favorite pub in Dublin- first stop and last stop in the city. Has toasties but not sure if any other food but they have snugs, and some of the best in the city. It's a really small spot but service is fantastic and the Guinness tastes amazing. Beautiful pub that attracts more locals than tourists. Ultimately a nice blend and of the two. Bartenders are v quick and courteous. Plenty of tucked away spots inside if you're inclined to sit down. Went there for a pint, first time in Ireland. Asked if they could do a half and half, they allowed they could. When I asked for a combination of Irish ale and guiness they crapped all over me. If you decide to go here, make sure they'll approve of what you're going to ask for. It would have saved some time if they'd simply said "no" when I asked for my drink. I wasn't at all fascinated by anything about the bar; in fact this is one of the most disappointing bars that I had been to in Dublin The drinks were overpriced and everything that I had asked for, they didn't have-so they just kept suggesting beer. Yes, there were a bunch of stools and some chairs outside, but when I sat outside with a glass of Prosecco and they gave me the cheapest Prosecco on the planet- I saw a sign that said number one rated bar in Dublin by publicans? How was that?! I couldn't think of why that bar was so special. Your choices were gin and tonic or beer on tap! it seemed to me, the only redeeming quality was the fact that they sold some champagne and $90 a bottle which is reasonable but my stomach was just not in the mood for it. I'd come from dinner down the street at Pierre Marco. It only had this one drink and all of a sudden my stomach was killing me the food was delicious but I think they're pretty Prosecco mixed with my food just made me feel unwell so I left the bar I guess this is where the snobby people hang out after work or something but I wasn't impressed at all The patrons reminded me of Londoners; they look like they came from England they didn't look Irish did it and speak like they were from Ireland and it was a massive letdown this particular bar. As a result of visiting Kehoe's (heaving with people on a Sunday night, if you must know) I have a new appreciation for the joy that is a properly poured pint of Guinness. Next time I'll snuggle up in one of the tiny, curtained off areas at the side (where I'm told they used to hide thirsty women and their drinks, when it wasn't appropriate for them to be all out in the open with such habits.) What a pub! there it is nestled off grafton street among all the fancy new shop fronts and pubs that felt the need to refurbish every corner of their establishment to justify their being off grafton. Kehoes is not like these guys at all, it looks just like it diid a hundred years ago ( i imagine!) all the furniture looks ancient, the upstairs still looks like a sitting room and a bathroom and maybe that other room is a bedroom. The norm is to pre drink here after work or before a club at the weekend but I've spent many a night outside drinking on the street in this old style traditional pub til the early hours. What's unique is that it caters to pretty much all ages and all kinds of people from all walks of life. You could easily go here on a night out with the girls, in a big group, or for a few pints with the lads. One thing though - it is ALWAYS busy. So if you're looking for a quiet drink then maybe this isn't the place for you. I do love the "old man pub" in Dublin. I would pick it over any trendy joint every time. That being said, despite the fantastic atmosphere and pints that assure you there is a God, I often feel that an ould visit to Des Kelly's carpets wouldn't go a miss. I'm certain James Plunkett and the lads had their first pints on the very same carpet. I'm certain that it wasn't due to the amount of Guinness I had but the carpets are walking. By replacing them or even just hoovering them, it would take nothing away from its character and charm yet reduce the risk of for customers of contracting tuberculosis by touching them. All that being said...one of Dublin finer establishments and worth a visit. Just don't play the five seconds rule if ya drop anything on the floor read more

One word; institution. Kehoe's, put simply, is the business. An old school pub with a brilliantly mixed crowd. The groundfloor can be packed from as early as 4:30 in the afternoon but if you're smart about it there's always a seat to be found. Ideally this would be in the snug, which is private, roomy and only 3 feet from the bar at all times. But if that's occupied you can always go upstairs and listen to the drunks dribble out notes on the piano. You simply cannot beat kehoes for an evening pint! The place is always jammers of a thursday and friday evening. If there is rugby on during the weekend then the place is flat out again! The staff are great and service is always pretty quick. Upstairs they often have a irish trad band or some form of live music. The pub is big enough over the two floors and if you dont fancy going for a smoke in the smoking area on the 2nd floor then they are happy enough to drink out on the street which gets pretty crowded with its customers and adds to the experience.
