The Temple Bar is famous and honestly it is filled with folks all the time! There is always music and dancing and history everywhere. The try to make sure that service is fast but it wavers. Yes, this is a tourist spot and yes, it's very crowded, but giving it 5 stars because it's such an iconic spot and the bar has a very cool atmosphere. Actually had a great drink menu with some unique options. It was a rainy day so I had a hot whiskey, which I had never tried before, and loved it. Definitely something I will try and make at home. A very cool spot and a large bar with multiple rooms and live music. Also, service was very good. Very lively bar with great live music. We went twice during our visit and both times were so fun. The first time we grabbed a table and had a late lunch. This pub is extremely popular and touristy, but it's a must stop while in Dublin. We walked in on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. There are several rooms to choose from, so we meandered our way through and a server noticed us and took us to an area with 2 chairs. He took our orders right away and was able to bring our pints super fast. It's impressive how they can keep track of 2 people in a massive bar filled with patrons. We landed in Dublin so early in the morning and started walking around, waiting to be able to check into our hotel. We were always told we should check out Temple Bar, so we walked down to see if they were open so we could grab lunch before heading back to the hotel. There is so much to look at inside the bar. They had sections that were "semi-outside," but if it rained, they were able to close the awning to keep everyone dry. I ordered these crab dip sandwiches, and coming from this Maryland girl, it was good but not like home. But I enjoyed it with my pint of Orchard Thieves. The night wr visited the bar was packed from door-to-door, but people were surprisingly accommodating and made space for a few more new friends. The negatives: both food and drinks are expensive compared to other bars (like tourist trap prices). It can get extremely crowded, and you may need to do a lap through the various rooms before you find an open seat/table. When live music is performed, the part of Temple Bar where the stage is located becomes packed with people standing shoulder to shoulder to view the performance, with many people having phones up to record it (as expected with any touristy place). Despite live music being performed throughout the day, it may not be Irish music as some performers did covers of mainstream songs. You won't be among locals, as this place is a tourist/visitor magnet (locals know prices here are inflated). Stopped into the infamous Temple Bar at 10:30 am (opening) on our first day in Dublin. There was already live music and a vast selection of cozy places to sit and have a pint. The Irish coffee was excellent and the service exceptional; both bartenders were friendly and conversational, and both offered us great recommendations for beers and whiskeys and places to visit during our time in Dublin. A fine pub but if you're looking for authenticity this may not be the best option. I was in the area and stopped in for a drink and a snack. The snack ended up being half dozen oysters (€16.50) and a pint (€8). The prices were on the higher side since a pint usually runs about €5-€6 but you go to say you've gone or to listen to the music which they have basically all day, everyday. I imagine this place can be busy so I suggest going early, or late, to avoid the crowds. I was there at an off time, weekday early afternoon and sat at the bar. The service was attentive and I was helped and served quickly. As a solo diner, the music and its volume was not a problem but if you had a group it would be difficult to hear each other. With so many amazing pub options I would suggest venturing out, but if you need a quick pint and want to listen to some music (at any time of the day), this is a solid option. read more

I respectfully went up to the door sober, I had just landed in Dublin an hour ago. I pulled out my I.D. Because I am clean shaven and offered my the bouncer my I.D. (I am 27 years old) the bouncer told me "No you can't come in, you've had enough to drink tonight lad". Absolutely ridiculous, he couldn't tell sober from drunk. Then proceeded to let a large group of well under 18 years of age in. Don't waste your time, this place is a filthy tourist trap and only accepts young women as part of their primary attraction. Spend your money elsewhere, trust me. Please, it may have been an amazing place 20 years ago, but now it is a horrid place that only young women inside past 9pm. read more

This place is historic/legendary - and for very good reason! The vibe was amazing - complete with standing room only and a live band! I cannot tell you how funny it was shoving my backpack and I into this bar flooded with people on a Saturday night, but during my time I met a Czech person, Brazilian person, Manchester person - it's just a melting pot of friendly people and was super fun, even when I wasn't particularly dressed for a night out! It seems like this place is always jam-packed no matter what time you go but I managed to find a seat at one the many bars inside. Came here during October 2024 and they already had holiday decor! The vibe and atmosphere was amazing even on a weekday when I went on a Tuesday. There was live music. It was busy and crowded so it was hard to find seating. There is a QR code on the table where you can order food and drinks but the weird thing is that there aren't any table numbers for you to indicate which table for them to deliver to.
