My technician and I were accosted by police that was called upon us today for merely shopping for…read moresimple components (ram/ssd/cpu/psu) for our laptops and desktops, which they stocked at a fair price. It's 2am, and both of us have been traumatized and have been crying all night about it. The extra hour wasted by the store owners having police taking pictures of our computers to "make sure they aren't stolen" was unwarranted as we were detained for no reason for an hour and also followed to our car. These people must be mentally unstable to label computer technicians as criminals. We weren't selling these computers and told them they were ours as gifts. The clerk took our laptops to the back without permission and forced my technician to fill out a form asking him for his passwords, when he was only asking to buy a power cord. They wasted an hour of our client's time who was waiting ($65/hr) to which we were reprimanded with negative metrics and remarks on my technician's new profile. This also delayed our dinner plans. We didn't steal our computers, one was kindly given to us by DigiTech down the street, while the others came from a medical doctor that retired last week. I do not feel comfortable to ever return or recommend your store. I was implied they treated other customers this way. I am a former Radioshack employee who ranked top 5 in 5 districts over 8 years. I would have never called detectives to take photos of 'suspected' customers just because this store believed our new gear didn't belong to us. Nothing in our conversations gave this away, only that we were missing power supplies we came there to buy. I will be returning the gifts that were given to me and my technician will also leave his version of a review. You should have never treated your customers this way. This is insane, I'm still crying as to why you called the cops, saying we were possible criminals. I've lost faith in humanity. Please delete our information from your databases. The turnaround time is fast and the prices are more than fair. A few years back, I was renting some gear to a well-known touring band. One of the amps, a solid state one chosen by the rhythm guitarist, needed some serious work. It just wouldn't start up! I took it to Don @ Phil's and had it back 3 days and less than $50 later. I was so impressed, I took another amp, a 4x10 Fender tube amp, in to get the speakers looked at. They were shot. Don was going to re-cone them...but called me later with a surprise. He came across a new-in-box set of original replacements. Parts and labor? $200. That's nothing for a job like this! I've since taken a few amps there. Need an organ fixed? He can do that too. A friend had a Hammond C3 redone there. Cool old TV or Hi Fi or antique radio? He can fix those. Need that impossible to find vintage tube or capacitor? Chances are he has it...possibly a box of them. Its like stepping back to the mid 60s walking in there. Its not flashy at all. Just lots of shelves with tubes and stuff. Tube testers. Stacks of projects lined up. It's a gear-head's dream in there. This place is the real deal and best of all, Don is as honest as they come. His prices are unbelievably fair.
