This is a divey little neighborhood bar and grill where locals meet to enjoy a bite to eat and a drink. The food is nothing fancy but is cooked nicely and made with fresh ingredients. My only complaint was that they make their BLAT (bacon, lettuce. Avocado and tomato) sandwhich on a roll. The bread was very fresh but I prefer a BLT on regular toasted bread. Used to love this place, haven't been in months and there was a blonde bartender I've never seen. I ordered a mixed shot and this bartender said "this bitch" and rolled her eyes. Atleast walk away if you're gonna talk crap. So naturally we left her no tip and as we're walking out she wants to start talking crap. I agree with previous posters. I came in for the first time with somewhat limited expectations. I've been to a bunch of Phoenix "dive bars" and really none of them have fit the bill. This place is too clean and has somewhat updated furniture to truly be considered an actual dive bar but they have phenomenal food, service, and cheap drinks. The sign on the wall near the dart board helps add to the appeal to the place but it does seem to lack some personality. I'm glad it's a stand alone business and not like the majority of the strip mall bars we have. It's a smaller place but it wasn't too busy while I was there. read more

Finally came to check this place out. What a gem of a find! Taylor behind the bar is awesome. She is friendly, attentive and actually seems to care about her guests!! My husband and I have been looking for a friendly neighborhood bar and I am happy to say we have found it. I am excited about this place and can't wait to come back. If you're young and hot DONT GO HERE YOU WILL BE TREATED POORLY I have noticed a trend of the bartenders kicking out girls in their 20s for no reason or barely valid ones like being loud (read reviews below)! The first time I tried going here the bartender who was in my opinion drunk, messy hair, and was wearing someone's happy birthday sash kicked us out because she didn't like my friend ID. She's 22 had the brand new AZ ID and we did nothing except sit down. After refusing service they refused to give her ID back we called the police on them and as soon as we told them they made us stand outside like fully kicked us out while we waited for law enforcement to show up and afterwards were told not to come back at all! (As if we'd want to?!) When all we did was ask for a drink and present LEGAL IDs! Aka the bartenders don't like competition/ sharing attention of pretty girls in the bar because if you read the reviews it's always pretty girls getting kicked out for doing nothing not girls girls and a truly trashy establishment! (maybe it takes from their tips??!? First time at Tav. Met a few guys for a bite and brews. Arrived at 5:30 PM on a Friday and it was 1/2 full. Tina greeted me after a while. The beer selection was very limited, unless she just didn't want to cover them all. There were standard pool tables, some video games and a few TV's around the place. Pretty dive-ey really but I didn't pick the place. I ordered a beer (on happy hour) and wings (no happy hour between 5-8 PM). Weird. The wings were not breaded, yay. They were not very tasty though, boo. They weren't really crisp and were way too over sauced, creating a quagmire in my tray. You can't replace good flavor with a lot of sauce. Tina had a bit of trouble keeping up with the orders and we had to seek her out twice just to get service, despite the owner coming to our table and chatting with us for quite a while. We stopped in Wednesday for a quick bite. We ordered the Chicken Philly with tots. Our bartender misunderstood so when we were brought a beef Philly I mentioned it and she was so apologetic and immediately wanted to make it right. I offered to just accept what was brought (no biggie, I just wanted chicken). She insisted we get what we ordered. I was concerned we were going to get so-so food and re-fried or microwaved tots. I visited on a Sunday afternoon (NFL playoffs). It was recommended as a place to check out from a bartender at CAPS. Everyone I engaged with - bartenders and patrons - was great. I had no intention of eating there, but a regular convinced me to try the food, and I did. I got the French Dip to go, and was pleasantly surprised. I really wanted to love this place, it's a local dive bar with trivia night on Thursdays, good bar selection, and decent food too. However, I've been there 4 times and here are my observations: first visit, the toilets were not functioning and rather than call in an emergency plumber they just let it be on a very busy Thursday night; second visit was good; third visit, AC was out in one half of the bar and it was hot as hell in there; and lastly, fourth visit, just 4 days after my third visit, the AC was still out, for a packed house on trivia Thursday there was ONE waitress and ONE bartender, and I wasn't once offered a food menu after waiting for over 15 minutes for the waitress' first visit to our table. Needless to say, yes, we left and took our business elsewhere I've worked in the restaurant/bar industry and get that it is a lot of work, but it's not hard to figure out your customers want timely service, properly working restrokms, and a bit of AC. read more
