The Tasting Room in Hochatown needs to learn the federal laws! After we entered and the bartender saw we had a service dog with us she ran outside and said she would be "right back". Five minutes later the most unprofessional manager I have ever met walks out and tells us "we need to go outside because they are super busy inside" (which was fine because that is where we were going anyway even though they had tables and bar space open in several areas) and then adds "oh but stay away from everyone" and right as we are out the door and the manager thinks we are out of ear shot she starts to tell the entire bar area something about us and our dog that she didn't mention to us. So we go to the outside bar to try and order drinks finally and I also ask the bartender about what I heard and if that is why we were the only ones asked to go outside and she starts to stumble around her words and says "umm no not really, we just didn't want drunk people bothering your dog, but not really anything to do with your dog exactly", I can tell she's hesitating and not telling the complete truth. That's when the manager comes back out, so I ask again why we were asked to come out and the manager finally said that the owner had been mauled a few months or weeks ago by another service animal and didn't want us inside now. Well... first off I am so sorry that happened to you because it sounds like you encountered a pet and not a trained service dog, however I hate to inform you it is still illegal to separate us from other guest or patrons. Our dog wasn't being out of control or using the bathroom on your premises, and when I informed the manager that is still illegal to do that and that if they wanted us to leave they should have just said that, and that's when she said "well maybe you should".
Long story short, if you would have been honest and upfront in the beginning we would have told you straight up no worries we understood why you were hesitant and not to worry because we were already planning on going outside. Instead the manager decided to be unprofessional and make comments behind our back to the rest of the bar and then lie to us multiple times. You have lost business and better be thankful that I won't take further action. I have never been treated so poorly at a place of business, shame on you. I hope you treat the next person in need of a service animal better than you treated us tonight! In case you need a few resources I have dropped some links to websites that can hopefully help educate you.
