History
Established in 2024.
Growing up, my house was always filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals and freshly baked treats. My dad is a phenomenal cook, and my mom is an exceptional baker — nobody in my family EVER had a store-bought birthday cake. When I moved into my first apartment in college, I realized how much their passion for good food had rubbed off on me. Baking became a hobby, and was a wonderful way to bring joy to others. I continued this pastime into adulthood, sharing my home-baked sweets with friends, neighbors, and colleagues.
It became clear why I was drawn to music and baking: they both require precision (hooray for being a perfectionist), yet allow me to be creative, and they also reflect my desire to spread happiness. Music brings people together. Dessert brings people together. And thus, The Sweet Note was born.
Meet the Business Owner: Jessica K.
Hello! I'm Jessica, the founder of The Sweet Note Bakeshop. By day (or actually mostly by night) I'm a classical flutist, performing on Broadway, in orchestras, chamber groups, and as a session musician throughout NYC. I am also an avid dessert maker and enthusiast.
Music and baking both require precision, yet allow me to be creative, and they also reflect my desire to spread happiness. Music brings people together. Dessert brings people together.
Much like my love for classical music and timeless musical theater, I embrace somewhat of an old-fashioned approach to baking. My treats are reminiscent of what one's mother or grandmother might have made, filled with warmth and nostalgia. From muffins and cakes to cookies and granola bars, my goal is to use classic flavors that are comforting and family-friendly, and that appeal to a wide range of tastes and preferences.
My hope is that my baked goods bring a bit of sweetness to your day. That they "hit all the right notes."
