Worth the stop! It's a perfect place to pack your picnic basket! But for the bright, gorgeous front door, you might miss this little gem stationed just to the left of the local cafe. Selection: 10/10 Customer service: 10/10 Quality: 10/10 Vibes: 10/10 I wouldn't normally think to do a review on a little sundry/ convenience shop but this one really had me smiling. First, they've really managed to fit a ton in here: it's a fruit stop, an apothecary (of sorts), a bulk supply, a meat and dairy stop, an eco friendly home supply store, a candy store, and they even had a tiny herb / plant start selection! Second, they get extra points for carrying local options, but they get extra, extra points for carrying such a wide and eclectic variety of things! Every where I looked, there was something new I had never seen and wanted to try. It's very small but they've managed to make it feel very organized and spacious. Will definitely be back to see what's new in stock!

Winning combo: dark chocolate and a cappuccino.

This space includes a cafe and an independent shop/boutique in the back which sources LOCAL ingredients from the Bay Area, SoCal and the Pacific NW. The shop is really incredible though on the pricey side ($20 for a chocolate bar). I loved their mission statement inscribed on the front door (please take the time to read it through!). Even as a longtime Bay Area resident, I have discovered some great independent brands and products on my visits here I didn't know about, like RAD, Ritual chocolates, organic herbal teas, spices/condiments, and more. And other brands that were familiar and of high quality (Fifth Crow Farms, Wise Goat organics), and organic self-care products. This is always the highlight of my visits! The coffee at the cafe (Sightglass), which we always get, is good too and well made. But I agree with other reviews that the barista's service could be friendlier. She seemed a bit annoyed by my questions about the products, and this is how I figured out that they are separate from the shop per se. Warm and welcoming service would have been an added plus.

Beautiful everything, good vibes guaranteed, whimsical small store. You won't leave hand emptied and you won't leave without taking some selfies with the cute mural as background. It is half grocery store old school meet bohemian, meet hippie meet hipster, as well as a grab-and-go store for your immediate needs. Loved the service, the good ambiance and the interesting and unique products they sell. A must visit when in lovely Pescadero.

Great vibes in here! Adorable decor everywhere you look

It is rare to say this, but I promise this treasure of a shop will thrill and delight you! My friend and I entertained ourselves for over 1 hour in here, fascinated by every unique, ethically produced, fabulous item that was for sale. We could not stop placing items in our baskets, because EVERYthing would make the perfect thoughtful gift, stocking stuffer, elevate our picnic lunch or would simply give us a taste of a special local delicacy. The good vibes in here are contagious, too! The lovely lady working here is just as engaging, patient, hard-working and knowledgeable as could be. Prices are higher than at a conventional big store (due to their very special, limited addition, hyper-local qualities) but we left feeling pure bliss. Please support this amazing little shop!

The Sunshine market and grocery is delightfully located across the street from Duarte's Tavern in Pescadero. The Sunshine offers carefully selected cheeses, fruits, meats and even house made soups such as Ramen. Other bulk dry goods and local fish makes for a special stop to gather all the best elements for a weekend dinner. They also offer local honey and chocolate for that perfect picnic on the coast. Knowledgeable staff helps explain where the items are sourced and cooking ideas too. Check out the front door prose about the store vision in the community.

A diamond in the rough...and worth the drive out to Pescadero. They offer everything from artisan salami and fresh local produce to health products and hand crafted cutlery. Delicious prepared food including ramen and healthy desserts are meticulously crafted with both love and precision. Their unique produce selections never fail to "wow" me...everything from local lion's mane mushrooms to jujubes. The owner's vision is written on the door... (see photo) and this shop perfectly embodies her dream. The employees have incredible product knowledge and passion (very rare) and always have a smile...likely because the environment is always radiating love and positivity. Unique businesses like this are a dying breed and we need to support them!!

    Red popcorn. Best ever.

I absolutely loved the slow drive in. I was greeted by a super friendly golden retriever when I stepped out of my car. And otherwise didn't come into contact with anyone else which makes sense since it's on an honor system. I was looking for wreaths that I saw on their Instagram and found beautiful succulent filled pumpkins and other treats instead. I am looking forward to adding this stop to my Pescadero day trip itinerary which includes Fish tacos at the gas station, artichoke bread from the deli, and Harley Farms goat cheese.

I loved the arrangements, the prices very affordable, the simplicity and elegance and the pretty factor of the cute stand with the (of course) super cute florist dressed in what I suspect and adorable modelito from Anthropology store (I might be wrong but she looked like from one of their catalogs). Even her tattoos were a total match in this ensemble. No wonder there is always a long line of people trying to get their bouquets there and by the end of the farmers' market time (around 8 pm) you don't find anything left. Go visit and see from yourself and...I would never say no from flowers coming from anyone! (especially if they look as fresh and good as the Forever Bloom).

But it was invisible to me. Until today, anyway. I am so happy I finally found it. Because Gourmet Works is much more than a store that sells candy and chocolate. In fact, as the name would suggest, it's more of a Gourmet food store and Gift Shop than a Chocolate Shop. But it's also a hella cool chocolate shop and that's the main reason I will be sure to return. Right when you walk in the door you are surrounded by an astonishingly large variety of items that would make the perfect gift for a loved one, or for yourself. Because, I ain't gonna lie, there were at least a dozen items that I considered buying for myself. I thought to myself, you know, I do so much for me, and it seems I rarely properly thank myself for my devoted patronage and self care. If you are interested in high quality gourmet gifts, Gourmet Works is definitely the place to go! They carry so many products you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Gourmet Salts, Dried Herbs, Pasta Sauces, Dried Pasta, Curry Sauces, Masala Simmer Sauce, Special Preserves and Jams. An impressive, well-curated selection. Then, at the back of the store you find the kind of Chocolate display case that dreams are made of. Oh my Lord! Just the Truffle side alone would be enough to melt anyone's heart. But the other side, with the astonishing variety of hand dipped chocolates is where I lost it. I saw the Almond Bark and stopped dead in my tracks. I stared at that Almond Bark. The Almond Bark stared back at me. We were locked into that stare down for what seemed like an eternity. I was sure neither of us would ever give in. But then I blinked. Somehow I became aware that the wonderful woman behind the counter was asking me if she could help me. As I regained my senses, suddenly I felt so embarrassed. How long had I been staring at that Almond Bark? How many times had she tried to get my attention? I had no idea. I tried to play it off like there was nothing going on between me and that Almond Bark. I casually inquired about some Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt on a totally different shelf in the display case. Then, of course, I had to buy a couple of those Chocolate Covered Carmels with Sea Salt, to cover up the whole situation with me and the Almond Bark. I purchased a couple ordinary, un-chocolate covered Caramels with Sea Salt too. The woman behind the counter couldn't have been more gracious. She didn't let on that she knew exactly what was happening and I wasn't fooling anyone with the whole Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt charade. So, my thanks to Gourmet Works, and the gracious woman behind the counter, Padmaja (her family owns Gourmet Works). It was such a pleasure to shop at your wonderful store! Mikey C says: I'm coming back for you, Almond Bark!

As I was paying for my groceries, Baron (gentleman with a rose tattoo on his ear) accused me of throwing my grocery bags in the bagging area. He asked me, "Would you like me to bag your groceries?" To which I said, "Yes please". He then said "Okay, well you threw your bags. Don't throw your bags if you want us to bag them because we are providing a service for you." I was confused because I 100% didn't think I threw my bags and also, it was 100% unintentional if it did seem aggressive. What Baron doesn't know is that I'm a big fan of Sprouts. I am friends with an ex-Sprouts store manager. I also recommended to the Mayor of Hayward himself that we should get a grocery store like Sprouts in Hayward. And I'm also friends with current Sprouts employees. I would never, ever be rude to a Sprouts employee. After I clarified with Baron how exactly I should place my bags, he then said, "There are cameras in the store." As if to threaten further action if I did this again. What was most embarrassing was there was another customer right next to me while this was going on. The good thing was that the other customer was smiling at me as if to say that he knew Baron was overreacting. I called the store manager on duty (Thomas) shortly after to report this behavior. I'm writing this review to ensure Baron gets this feedback.
