Tried this place to get some smoothies on a hot Summer day. I was greeted by the preparer and ordered a peanut butter smoothie and a banana strawberry smoothie. Alll was refreshing and delicous! It was prepared in great fashion. Good presentation and good friendly service. Plenty of selections to choose from. If you want some quality smoothies, come by for some great smoothies or cup of delight. Plenty of street parking. Definitely come back here for some refreshments.
I actulaly like their products but I have a few gripes about the establishment itself. 1. Inconsistency in serving size - this is probably the one that upsets me the most. I came bright and early on Saturday morning with my best friend for a Yelp Elite event in which she was able to get a monkey bowl. I bought a tropical smoothie that day which tasted of real fruit in it with that signature acidic and slightly bitter taste of pineapple at the end. I was happy with that visit. I came again that following Monday and tell me why my monkey bowl during this visit was barely filled up unlike the Yelp Elite visit. Do I get less of an intentional effort and quality of product because I'm a regular shmegular customer instead of a Yelp Elite customer who will likely leave a review on the place? Is that what is required of customers to get a consistent quality product? It really grinds my gears when I go to an establishment and the product is not the same quality and portion size as the previous visit. It especially grinds my gears even more when you think of the context in which one bowl was prepared vs the other. 2. Pricing on menu. The menu is so unclear how they charge you. The menu doesn't clearly state that for add-ons you will be charged and even more so, there's no price. I don't mind paying for add-ons, but could you at least make it clear on the menu?? I paid almost $17 for a monkey bowl that was barely full while all I added was vanilla whey and strawberries. The vanilla whey was almost $2 to add on and that wasn't even made clear in the pricing on the menu. For me, the value of $17 is not worth this teeny bowl. It really sucks cause it does taste really good but it's the little things that aren't really little imo such as PRICING on a MENU where you expect to see the cost of things BEFORE you order, not once the bill is all rung up and you're forced to do the awkward social backpedaling of canceling something in your order cause you weren't expecting it to cost that much. It really sucks but idk if I'd come back just for these two reasons. They get 3 stars instead of 2 because their product is actually good. But a good product doesn't really mean anything if you're not consistent in how you make and serve it and clearly show pricing and additional pricing for non-standard items.
Really enjoyed my first visit to The Sunrise Shack. This place is great and definitely a new favorite local spot for me. I ordered the small açaí bowl, which had a ton of flavor. I particularly enjoyed the granola and shaved coconut because it paired really well with the açaí and bananas by giving it the perfect crunch. The shop is small, but it has a great feel and doesn't feel crowded at all. The staff was friendly, the vibe was relaxed, and it's just a really chill place to stop by. As a local, I'm always happy to find spots like this that are worth coming back to. Definitely adding The Sunrise Shack to my list of go-to places, especially on those hot days when you're looking for something refreshing.
The store was clean, warm, and inviting, and the young woman who greeted us and took our order was very polite and professional! We started with a few specialty toasts and sandwiches-avocado toast, smoked salmon toast, and turkey avo aioli. Everything tasted fresh and the bread had a great chew and crust! We then had each of the smoothie bowls except the monkey bowl and they all tasted great! Our favorite was the Paradise Punch Bowl, as the citrus gave it a nice, bright flavor. Would definitely come back again!
For a refreshing treat to cool off from the heat go to THE SUNRISE SHACK. I had the pleasure of checking out this spot last week and I love that a little of Hawaii is in LBC. I ordered the I LAVA YOU Acai smoothie bowl and it was delicious and just what I needed to escape the heat. My nephew ordered the smoothie drink BLUE DREAM. I loved the freshness of how everything tasted. The service is made to order but was worth the little wait. The staff was very welcoming and attentive to customers. You can read about the story of how the brothers and friend started the business and they have cute merchandise to buy. I do recommend checking them out. They are close to LBCC and LBX. It brought back memories to be in that neighborhood.
Conclusion first: did I like this place? Yes! Would I come again? Yes! Here's what was off. Smoothies: We tried to order a smoothie with no mango (pineapple instead) and they couldn't because everything was "pre-made". What about people with certain fruit aversions? The smoothie was still good I will say. Coffee drinks: although they have a blender for the smoothies, they don't offer blended coffee drinks - weird. I got an iced caramel latte extra sweet and although it had no frills, it was pretty good. I call it a lazy-latte because they really don't seem to customize them too much. Overall we liked what we got and will try it again. Parking and location are pretty good. There is parking in the back as well. Good addition to the area and the shop inside is super cute.
Friends were hyping this place up because it came from Hawaii but it didnt hit the mark. The place is very cutely decorated and vibrant. However not a lot of seating if it's busy and it was very busy. The service was nice and friendly however. We were told about 15 min wait but it became about a 30 wait, I wasn't in a hurry but when you wait that long and the food doesn't come out great you feel a bit sad. I got the blue dream small, it's the perfect amount for a single person but it is expensive. My main complaint was with the base and it was that the consistency was off. My blue dream was very icey. Whereas my friends parasise punch one was super watery. I also got the salmon toast, it was just okay. Overall I've felt I had better acai places.
Take me back to Hawaii! The infamous Sunrise Shack is on the mainland and I'm all for their Long Beach location bringing the Hawaiian vibes. Came here on opening day and also a few weeks after. The service is very fast and the bowls taste amazingly sweet. They have bowls, smoothies, coffee, sandwiches and toast. I tried their classic Tropical Bowl and Acai bowl. I think I enjoyed their acai bowl a little bit more, the tropical one was too sweet for me. For me personally, I think their pitaya sauce is what separates them from other places. It looks pretty wild because its pinkish purple but tastes great. As for parking, there's parking nearby near all the other businesses. Also street parking as well. Inside there's limited seating too! It's bright inside with colorful walls that will uplift your vibes. Also theres vibey Hawaiian music too!
Sunrise shack is a yummy alternative to Jamba juice. Using all real fruits instead of sorbets which is great! The smoothies and bowls are not too sweet. The I Lava You smoothie has similar ingredients to the Hailey Bieber smoothie at Erewhon but has less of a strawberry flavor. Still good though!

The staff were really friendly, and even though there's no restroom, we had a lovely time eating outside where the breeze made everything feel even more enjoyable. Finding parking was a bit tricky, and we kept driving past the place. Lol Overall, it was a great experience and we will be back.

I missed out on The Sunrise Shack during my last visit to Oahu, so I was really excited to try it out as a local! I went around 9:30 AM on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. Food/Drinks/Merch: My group & I came mainly for coffee. I was recommended the Hazelnut Latte with the macadamia nut milk by the staff and my sister & brother in law tried their bullet coffees. I thought the latte was just okay & slightly watered down and my sister thought it was too sweet. The bullet coffees weren't strong enough for their liking. They did however really enjoy the Turkey Avo Aioli, which came with chips. They have a great menu & I'm definitely coming back to try the smoothies & açaí! They looked so good. Their merch collection is impressive. They had stickers, baby onesies, mugs, shirts, hats, & hoodies. Location/Safety/Parking: The location is safe (close to LBX) and parking is usually easy on Norse Way, with limited curbside parking right at the front too. Service/Ambiance/Vibe: The staff was really friendly & helpful with my questions. Decent seating inside & some tables outside. Vibe definitely felt like I was back in Hawaii & they played hawaiian music too. Also, the mural is amazing! You can really see all of the details on it.

Niceeeeee! I'm in the area often but this spot is outside the triangle of businesses if ykwim. It faces outside the Main Street on Carson so I was kinda surprised this existed. When you step inside you're immediately hit with aloha vibes--large mural to the left and some island music. The staff are really nice, helpful with the menu, and good recommendations. Pricing: $$$ a little on the pricier side. We paid about $40 for 1 açaí bowl and 2 smoothies. Talk about inflation pricing. Plain coffee is $7 But you know I didn't come here to complain. Our order: Monkey bowl and Monkey smoothie are similar. They probably used the same based. Both are good! Rich, dense, and filling. Tropical smoothie was okay. I felt it was too watery for my liking. I like my smoothies thicc. Overall would go again. Better acais elsewhere but it's good and the place brings the vibes. Pet friendly too--saw many pups with their owner. read more

This place is EXCELLENT! We came in on a Friday at 10am and were definitely prepared to wait. There wasn't much of a wait! The workers were stacked and ready. Everyone greeted us, the guy taking our order was helpful and polite. Smoothie was excellent!!! I enjoyed every taste. It's definitely not like "any other smoothie place". It was refreshing, not too sweet and essentially, perfectly balanced. Their sandwiches are excellent! Flavor is 10/10 and unlike any other place I've had a sandwich from. Bowl was also great! My husband had that and said it was good so that's a good sign. Any negative reviews seem like extreme critics. They just opened. Obviously they're adjusting. I have been wanting to try this place since I saw that it opened. I walked in late on a Saturday morning. Ordered right away and they had my bowl ready really quickly!! It's a cute location that is really bright and clean. Parking is pretty easy as well -- lots of street parking and parking spots in front of adjoining businesses. My bowl was great :) next time I stop in I will for sure get a smoothie. Congrats on opening in LB! read more

If you're charging $10+ for a smoothie you should have a restroom for customers to use. I know this place is new and they're still working out the kinks of everything but they should have had a soft opening to where they could train their employees versus now. The woman training, the girl at the register was a little rude and demeaning to her, which I definitely didn't like and again they should have trained these employees before fully opening. Lastly, this place does not give off the vibes like the one in Hawaii, and I definitely won't be returning to this location. read more

We waited in line for almost an hour around 9:00 this morning. They had a special for the I Lava you smoothie, buy one get one free. Once we finally got to the counter they told us they were out of that smoothie. We asked if we could get another smoothie buy one get one free, and we were told that we couldn't do that. The smoothies were good but they were about $11 a piece. I understand it is their opening day and there would be a line, but I was disappointed that I waited that long for the special that they ran out of before 11:00 and were unwilling to give us a discount on another smoothie. Not sure I'll be back since the smoothies were so expensive and didn't taste that much different than what you could get at another smoothie place. read more
I go to Hawaii a lot. Someone i follow on instagram was really blowing this place up. I got a drink that didn't have bananas in it because all of their drinks have bananas in them. Should be renamed banana shack. So after spending a lot for this small drink. It was meh. The person who explained some of the ingredients I had questions about was very nice. I'm guessing this place is only popular because it's located in a very touristy spot in Hawaii. Idk how long this place is going to last because its only customers are kids from the community college next door. Friendly service with island vibes! We love Hawaii, and Sunrise Shack in Long Beach gives us a taste of the natural flavors and colors we adore so much. My girls tried the Blue Dream Bowl and Blue Dream Smoothie. The texture was perfect - so refreshing on an oddly hot spring day. Not too sweet, and chock full of healthy ingredients. Stop by after hitting the gym. Cute vibes and staff was friendly. I got the tropical smoothie and I lava you bowl. I felt like the flavors were very muted. For the smoothie I expected a fruity/tropical flavor but didn't taste too much of anything just looked pretty. The granola and crumbs really made the bowl. That added lots of flavor. Also side note: THE MERCH is so good! My daughter and I tried a variety of things and it did not disappoint. Both Monkey Toast and Avo Toast are a perfect snack: one savory and one sweet! Blue Dream Bowl was perfect (although if it were up to me I would've changed up the toppings, but the teen won). The Pesto Chicken Sandwich: OH MY! So fresh, and so so yummy! And really original, it's like a chicken salad, but with pesto, a nice greens mix and on super fresh multi grain bread: DEF A FAN! Also tried the Iced Almond Coconut Bullet.... Seriously AMAZINGGGG!! What a great little addition to our Norse Way neighborhood! We walked in and were greeted with such warmth and smiles. A girl named Hope and a gentleman (whose name I didn't get) helped us with questions we had about the bowls. Great service! They have an assortment of smoothie bowls, smoothies, coffee, specialty toasts and sandwiches. We got the salmon toast and a lava you bowl. Both looked and tasted delicious. I LAVA YOU BOWL - SIZE SMALL Base: 2/5 Toppings: 5/5 ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: - The bowls are definitely on the smaller side compared to other shops. It's priced higher, too. - The base ingredients turned out very... watery? By the time we picked it up and took it to our table (5 feet away) the consistency was like soup, so that was quite disappointing. I wasn't expecting it to be that way as a bowl. If I wanted that consistency, I would have opted for the smoothie cup which actually costs a little less, and would have offered more. THE POSITIVES: - Staff were welcoming and service was prompt. Kudos to the team for their sunshine despite the heavy raining outside. - Toppings were fresh and delicious. The cacao nibs paired with the honey were exceptional! Overall, I would give this shop another chance. Hopefully they adjust the consistency of their bowls. read more
