Now, my son, did have an experience with the ghosts here. So I don't think we will be going back based on that! But I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to feel like you're staying in the heart of Savannah to stay here. The only complaint I would say was the rooms were not very well cleaned. The bed area especially was a little off putting. But I don't want to discredit the staff or the experience of the hotel for this.

This is my second review. I originally removed my first post after management reached out to…read moreresolve the situation, but after a continuous cycle of shifting timelines and misleading information, I feel compelled to share the full experience. My AirPods were stolen by the staff here on the 17th. While I finally recovered them on the 29th, it was entirely due to my own efforts, not the hotel's. I had to file a police report and track the devices on the Find My app, watching them travel to a private residence before making their way back to the hotel days later. Getting answers from management was incredibly difficult. I was repeatedly promised callbacks--first at 3:00 PM, then at 4:00 PM--only to be completely ghosted for an entire day. Management only took the situation seriously after I posted my initial negative review. Once the review was live, the interim manager called immediately, offering 20k Hilton points as a goodwill gesture and claiming it would cover a night at "most places." Wanting to cooperate and focus on getting my property back, I agreed to take the review down. The poor communication continued with the shipping process. Management promised to overnight my AirPods the next morning, but the Find My tracking showed the AirPods still at the hotel until I followed up yet again to ask why it hadn't been dropped off at FedEx. It has now been a week since the points were promised, and they still have not arrived. When I followed up, the interim manager claimed the system takes two days to process them - meaning the request was never actually submitted when promised last weekend. Furthermore, the information provided about the loyalty program was incorrect: I was told the points do not expire, but Hilton corporate policy states they expire after 24 months of inactivity. The valuation is also incredibly misleading; 20k points does not cover a night at "most places," especially considering a single night at this exact property costs 66k points. While the staff member Michael was pleasant to deal with, the interim management team simply said whatever was necessary to get a negative review removed, with zero genuine follow-through. I highly advise travelers to keep a close eye on their belongings and be wary of management's promises.

The picturesque, stately Eliza Thompson House, sits along the storied Jones St. This street has…read morebeen called The Most Beautiful Street in America for good reason. Lined by majestic oaks draped with Spanish Moss, it is simply impossible to take a bad picture (unless its a selfie --- ooops sorry). After you have climbed your chosen set of stairs on one side of the double staircase, and opened the door of the Inn, you are greeted by an elegant vestibule. The Common Room to the right of the vestibule features a historic vibe and well-appointed decor. The adults-only environment was perfect for us, two vacationing teachers. Add to the mix the Eliza Thompson's reputation as a Haunted Hotel. To all this, I must add that it is quite expensive. I am aware that it may lie beyond the means of many, and grateful for the privilege of my 5-night stay. So, aside from picturesque, elegant, historic, well appointed, child-free, possibly haunted and expensive, what else is there to say about the Eliza Thompson House to justify the 5 stars? If you aren't in the mood for a lengthy descriptive review, then TLDR. Just skip to the last paragraph. Let's start with the location. Located in the North District, this Inn combines the charm of an actual residential neighborhood with the convenience of a ten minute walk to downtown, Southern District and River District. To add to the pluses of the location, count the close proximity to Forsythe Park. A beautiful 15 minute walk through the park will bring you to the Victorian district, which has a strikingly different architectural style. It is so central that my husband and I, who almost always choose to rent a car, chose to have a week of walking trips. In all these respects, the Eliza Thompson was ideally poised for a proper Savannah visit! As to the quality of the rooms, they are the height of urban historical luxury, with 4 poster beds and high ceilings. This is particularly evident in the main house. We stayed in rooms in both the main house and the courtyard wing. We had been aware of this, the staff did the move for us, and we got to see a different side of the Eliza Thompson House. The rooms were so individualized and charming, and it turned out to be a pleasure to stay in both of the rooms. The only thing that I would wish for is a desk and chair suitable for writing. However, I am not going to take off a star for that. be possible for someone with a light appetite to do all of one's eating here. A friendly, courteous and helpful staff energetically offered to help us at every turn. The Inn happily booked trolley tour tickets and taxis for us! They even let us use their computer to pre-book our flights. However, if you are already daunted by the expense at Eliza Thompson, be sure to ask in advance whether there is a charge for these service (more about this later). Actually, I recall seeing a list of charges somewhere in our room, but stupidly ignored this. The staff is so incredibly gracious that it feels that it is all being done from the goodness of their hearts. Certainly, that holds true for many of the kind gestures, but not all. Best to ask. The special little touches certainly help to justify the price tag: wine and cheese in the late afternoon, and sherry and dessert at 9:00, offered very elegant opportunities to meet other guests and compare notes about Savannah. With delicious and ample house prepared breakfasts, the Eliza Thompson House offered so many opportunities for food and refreshment that it would be possible to do all one's eating here. After we arrived home, we discovered $300 in charges that we could not account for. My husband phoned, and they courteously went through it all with him. Remember some of those services, like booking trolley tickets? Not only do you pay for your ticket, but also a gratuity to the hotel for the booking service. Fair enough: we should have asked or read the info. in the hotel room. To sum all this up, if you are looking for a conveniently located, adult-only environment in a historic Inn, in a gorgeous and very historic setting on The Most Beautiful Street in America, and you are able to manage the rates and charges, the Eliza Thompson House may be for you. The Haunted Hotel stories add a certain intrigue, and the full report of paranormal investigations is available for you to read in the common room. However, although we stayed both in the courtyard rooms and the Inn proper, we never had the slightest sense of any paranormal presence. There are so many lovely, elegant things about the Eliza Thompson house that I can't begin to list them all. We usually drive around and camp, and this was a novel experience for me. It all comes with a high price tag which, for us, was worth it. Finally, a shout out to the staff, especially Tess and the chef, for a wonderful stay. I wish that I remember the names of the staff who helped us with our airline reservations, but thank you.

I want to first start off by saying that 3 stars were not because this place was absolutely…read moreterrible, but there were some things that were probably deal breakers. I saw a lot of common themes in what we experienced vs. other reviews and some people hate giving lower than 5 or 4 stars, because they hate to be "mean". I just want people to know what they are considering before they book... Keep in mind - this is a bed and breakfast (how they market it) so I am going to comment based on my expectations for a true Bed and Breakfast... First, the good! The location is amazing! It's in a great area of the historic district. If you are going to celebrate an anniversary or whatever, this is a great location and surrounded by beautiful homes and trees... and whatever you think Savannah should look like! It was great. Having a garden was so great! Here's where I think they could do better... this is supposed to be a Bed and Breakfast... have a little more ambiance... no candles at night??? Encourage people to sit in the garden and enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail. None of this was offered in that garden at night. It was offered in the room in the house which was very nice, but I think it should be both places... some people enjoy sitting in the garden with candles and enjoying such a pretty place. Make it more inviting! The front desk was polite and helped when asked, but they did not go out of there way at all to suggest things, help, sometimes you felt like you were bothering them. The rooms were older which gave the perfect vibe, but I could say they could be a bit cleaner... a little more attention to detail. The parking is a known issue, but even so, we got excellent parking out front. We did have to pay for a pass, but this is just the way they do things there. No dings for that at all. Just know, parking can be challenging, we were super lucky! But we also never left our spot the entire time we were there! We walked or Uber'd. Now let's talk about what deserves ZERO stars... the breakfast. Holy cow! The food itself was comically terrible. A bed and breakfast should first of all have a bit more options, but none of it would matter if the quality was beyond disgusting. We only ate breakfast 2 out of the 3 days - but each day was not good at all. Eggs were tasteless, grits were just gross, the biscuit they gave was hard as a rock and burned on the bottom. They did not care at all what they served us. Is it that hard to make quality food? and have quality pastries and a fruit bowl that had good fruit cut up? Not a bowl of almost rotten bananas, orange, etc. It was so very disappointing. Now let's discuss the servers... the lack of hospitality and the rudeness by one truly took me completely off guard. I had no silverware and asked for it... I was given a dirty look, got a grunt, he came back and tossed it down and walked away. Like really? They do not belong serving people. For that alone, I would not revisit. It was such a deal breaker. But truly... do better at training your staff to be kind or at least polite. It was like they hated the guests. And the quality of the food... oh my gosh... do so so much better for the guests! Here's the thing - this place is pretty... they should be making it truly special for the people that come to stay. Don't make it seem like we're tourists and deserve less... I felt that in the town... a lot of locals that work in the town do not like the tourists... I get it... we live in a touristy area too, but don't treat people badly.... we bring money to your city! Just as the tourists bring money to ours! Hopefully they read and this and try to up their game a bit. They've got a really nice place and should be making it a place that people can't stop talking about... in a good way. All we will remember is the way we were treated at breakfast and how absolutely terrible it was... not a great thing to walk away with!

It's clear that the hosts take tremendous pride in maintaining the space. Our GPS found the parking spot with no issues and leaving the car in it's spot the entire trip was perfection. The location is hands-down the best in the city. You can walk to everything, and being right in the heart of Savannah makes the experience even more magical. You are a few blocks from City Market, Broughton and directly across from the river. I am not sure I would stay anywhere else. Plus the amount of space! We stayed in 903 and the stairs up and down weren't too bad (really more like 2 flights than 3). However, if you have mobility issues, I would not suggest staying up here. On top of that, the host has truly thought of everything. Every detail, amenity, and little touch made the stay easy, comfortable, and welcoming. One thing I did want to mention- we were supposed to get the code the morning of the arrival and around noon still had not heard. I sent a quick email (only had this email address because I switched the card on file and received a confirmation from a specific person rather than the generic email address). Had I not had this email address, I would have been very concerned because no one answered when I called the number. So this was a non issue because I received a response in a few short minutes, but otherwise, I'm not too sure what would have happened. I will recommend this place to everyone staying in Savannah!
