Very gorgeous! I love the concept and the staff was nice! I'd definitely go back and recommend.

Came to New Haven to visit a friend and the reviews steered me to two choices. Either the Study at Yale or the Blake Hotel. I was drawn to the Study by the pictures so I went with it. I booked a king room with a campus view. Not sure what type of campus I was looking at but it was the view of a random roof. I was not impressed with the view whatsoever. The room was clean and it was a decent size. It had a leather chair with a foot rest in there too. The bed was very comfortable too. The bathroom was a little small but it did the job for our 2 night stay. FYI, they charge $20 for parking overnight. Sunday is free parking on the street so you can save some money if you park after 9pm on Saturday into Sunday. There was plenty of parking on the street. The one good thing about the hotel parking is the elevator goes straight up to your room. I would come back and stay but next time I will make sure I have a better view. Other than that the hotel was solid.

Came for a private dinner in the Penthouse. Started with a mojito first at the bar downstairs. it was nice but paper straws stink and don't work well. Dinner itself was okay. First course- butternut squash soup allegedly served with micro greens but all I could taste was cilantro which makes my stomach turn. Bread was sliced and served with warm butter. Our server actually came around with the bread basket and doled out slices individually. Next course was the branzino which was freaking DELICIOUS. Ended the meal with a chocolate pot de creme that was served with ice cream. Didn't understand that pairing at all. I'd come back for the view and the branzino. Nice space for a private dinner with friends and colleagues. All the servers were nice. Valet parking only but its' free!

I really liked The Study Nice service. Kind front desk. I don't use housekeeping minus towel change and they were attentive. robe, paper thin, no less.....a robe. Clean modern hotel Free lobby coffee in the AM....illy Free water in room Good workout room for a small hotel. Close to hospital Felt safe Was woken by loud noises at 530a but I can't take away stars for that. Would definitely come again

It's 10 pm. On a Sunday. Am I legal to park?

Boutique hotel located on the Yale campus. I was fortunate to have the tab picked up by Yale. Valet parking is $35. (Also comped by Yale for me). Nit sure where you park otherwise. Rooms were small, but they felt homey. It must have been the decor, but I felt more like I was in my own house as opposed to the sterile hotel room vibe I normally get. Nice large walk in glass door shower. With seersucker bathrobes. No refrigerator or microwave or coffee pot. I should really minus 2 stars for that alone. WiFi was terrific.

Recently visited new haven for work and stayed at the Study. Such a nice hotel! My room was so sleek I loved it. And the bed was incredibly comfy. Also had breakfast at Heirloom, the food was fantastic. The hotel is also in such a convenient location and close to everything! The staff was so nice and really speaks to the quality of the hotel. I had a fantastic stay and would recommend the hotel!

Very solid place for brunch. Nice ambience, amazing food - highly recommend the hot caramel apple donuts! Pretty packed on Sundays, prepare for a little wait.

For years, this was just the big brutalist building in the IKEA parking lot, but they've put so much work into making this a gorgeous hotel with comfortable amenities and retro design. The switches to manipulate the blinds were cool and I liked that there were different settings for different times of day. I appreciated the abundant free parking as well. This seemed to be a pretty busy conference / corporate hotel which is not surprising but we definitely didn't feel like an afterthought. The staff were friendly and checked in throughout our stay. I also loved the commitment to sustainability throughout the hotel (e.g., reusable bottles, wooden reusable key cards, energy efficient lighting).

I called the day of booking to confirm the shuttle and they told me it ran until 10:30 PM. That was perfect because I had 8:30 dinner reservations. But I have to warn folks off if they're planning to stay longer or expect more space. Plusses: --employees are super nice. Jaimie was very kind when I arrived carsick and a little dizzy! --cafe in the lobby is great for breakfast --rooms are QUIET (at least in the summer) and clean --the bed was extremely comfortable. So I slept well. Hooray! --location: very convenient for Yale --Bathroom was nicely sized and stylish. Now the Minuses: --OMG, other than the bathroom, my room was TINY. The Hilton name & the website makes the rooms look very fancy - but it's an old small hotel renovated to look cute & instagrammable. So there was barely room in the room for me let alone my suitcase. No room for a dresser. No room on the floor to stretch or do exercises. I was supposed to be here for work for 2 weeks - I got a fabulous rate and it was going to be about the same as an AirBnB (but as "a Hilton", it sounded nicer). But I could not unpack in this room - and I had no breathing room. So I arranged to check out after 5 nights and move to a more spacious hotel. --Also: coffee in the room? Instant. But there was no room really for a coffee pot, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I would still give 4 stars with those caveats - except that sometimes the rate here is $400. I want to make sure people know what they would be getting for that! I slept really well and it was easy to get to meetings - but if I'd known, I would have stayed elsewhere for that amount. I was grateful to get to switch to the Blake later in the week, which was a lot roomier and modern. Hope that's helpful to anyone deciding where to stay!!

All staff were incredibly nice and did try to solve all of the issues that we had. First room they sent us to reeked of smoke. We literally opened the door and then walked right back out to the front desk. It was terrible. In our 2nd room the tv was broken, maintenance could not fix it so they offered to move us to another room. At this point, we had already unpacked and we were staying for a week so we decided just to stay in the room with no TV. They offered us one free breakfast for the inconvenience. Since the breakfast there is not free. I went to use our free coupon for the breakfast and we were limited with the choices if we had a coupon. If we were just out right paying for breakfast, there were more options but not for the free breakfast with the ticket that we got for the inconvenience. There is no microwave in the room. The bathroom and coffee bar area are very small. Our last night there the AC kept switching itself over to heat. The maintenance guy came and tried to fix it, but he could not. So at that point we had to pack everything up and move to another room at like 1 o'clock in the morning.

Both of my rooms were pretty good my only caveat was that about 7 days into my second day, my batteries in my ac died, and it took more than a day to be fixed. Connecticut in the summer is no joke, so that was a VERY sweaty night. The breakfast each morning was good, and it either featured scrambled eggs or omelettes, with bacon, sausage links/Pattie's, and potatoes. There was fresh coffee, pastries, and cereal, as well as waffles and oatmeal, and various fruit and yogurts. That was the best part of the stay. The elevators were probably the worst part, because one either smelled like too much perfume, or really stinky feet. The carpet in the majority of the hotel was absolutely gross, and they had rolls of new carpet in the first floor hallway, so I think they're gonna update it soon (I took the stairs 12 out of 14 days of my stay). The hotel is located right next to a very popular Texas Roadhouse, and across the street from a Walmart and an Aldi. It's not the best area, but it was somewhere okay to lay my head while in town on business. I'd stay again.

Tried to Keep My $50 Cash Deposit Before Even Inspecting the Room…read more My checkout experience left me extremely uncomfortable and questioning how this hotel handles cash incidental deposits. At check-in, I was required to leave a $50 CASH incidental deposit. The next morning, I left my room and went directly to the front desk to get my deposit back. Before anyone had inspected my room, the woman working the desk immediately told me she would not return my deposit because I had "smoked in the room." I told her very clearly: I DON'T SMOKE. What bothered me most was that she was at the front desk when I came downstairs. If my room had not even been inspected yet, how had she already determined that I smoked in it and that my $50 cash deposit should be forfeited? Only AFTER I challenged the accusation did she go inspect the room herself. She came back and returned my $50 deposit--which tells me there apparently wasn't evidence of smoking that justified keeping it. Yet even while handing my money back, she told me that "if I smoke in the room again" I would be banned from the hotel. Again--I DO NOT SMOKE. The irony? While I was outside waiting for my Lyft after checkout, I watched the same employee outside smoking. I cannot say what her intentions were, but the entire interaction left me seriously questioning why she was so quick to accuse me of smoking and keep a CASH deposit before even inspecting the room. If I had simply accepted what she initially told me instead of challenging it, would I have gotten my $50 back? If the room genuinely smelled like smoke, why was my full deposit returned after the inspection? I would strongly recommend that guests paying a cash incidental deposit get a receipt, document the condition of their room, and make sure the room is actually inspected before accepting any claim that their deposit is being forfeited. The accusation was false, the way it was handled was inappropriate, and even after the inspection apparently showed no reason to keep my money, I was still treated as though I had done something wrong.

(Smooth R&B from the 90s and old school jam.) It took me back. Sometimes I caught myself jamming to the music. The negatives- We were told that coffee or tea would be served in the mornings at the front foyer. They only had water. Anything else had to be bought from the market. There was no continental breakfast. We were there for an extended time and hoped our room would be cleaned. Every time that we left the room for long periods of times, the housekeepers would come in and change the trash cans and place towels in the bathroom, but they never made the beds or tidied up the rooms. Most hotels inform guests about the frequency of room cleaning, whether it's every other day or not. They did not clean our rooms during the entire stay and they were coming into our rooms when we were not there! Leave a note or let us know if the rooms are not going to be cleaned. On Saturday night, we asked the gentleman in the lobby for fresh towels and he told us that he would send someone up in 10 minutes. We waited and waited. No one ever showed up.
