This pub is certainly a neighborhood establishment. Many patrons appeared very local, arriving and departing on foot (which my husband and I also did). They seem to have resolved the customer service issues which plagued the earlier yelp reviews, as they had many waitstaff dashing about, and our waitress was quite attentive. She did not hesitate to recommend food specials, although she was clearly unfamiliar with the alcohol selections aside from beer. Neither my husband nor I are beer drinkers, so I stuck with the wine menu, ordering a pleasant Sauvignon Blanc. My husband had a rye and ginger-ale cocktail and then ordered a second (the virtues of the walk-to local pub). My husband ordered a banquet burger with a Caesar Salad. Somewhat mysteriously, the burger came with an egg on it. However, my husband said that it was OK, and same with the Caesar salad (lacked garlic, apparently). I ordered the fish and chips, which featured two pieces of breaded fish with somewhat ponderous breading. Being a fan of fried breaded food, this was not a problem for me, although I could only finish one piece. My husband ordered a coffee with a side of Drambuie (which was on the menu), and the waitress had no clue what this was until he went up to the bar and pointed her in the direction of the bottle in question. However, he did get his beverage of choice, and we had a quite reasonably priced menu for what we had. In short, don't come here expecting a gastropub experience. Rather, it is serviceable, standard pub fare, with a fairly diverse menu. Most people, I noticed, were not eating, and if they were, it was generally wings. Perhaps that's what to order here. Anyway, we will be back, because it is local and convenient. Just don't expect anything more than your basic pub food and beer-oriented selection. Nothing was terrible, but not outstanding either. Perhaps a smaller menu with more specialized fare would elevate the food but, as I observed, most people do not really come here to enjoy a meal. The sports screens are plenteous and diverting. If you live nearby and want a convenient place to have a brew and enjoy the game, then the Stone Corner may be the place for you. read more

Thought we'd try out our local because we had an Ubereats discount. Wow so glad we did. I picked up the food which was ready on time and still hot when we got home. Very impressed with the portion size and the food tasted excellent. I had the beef dip with fries and my husband had the 1 lb medium chicken wings with a side of poutine fries. Awful place. The place is filthy, no one cleans or follows covid protocols. Staff not wearing masks. The young girl who claims to be the manager is about as useful as a poopy flavoured lollipop. I have heard her be rude to customers and to her co workers. Ive also seen the owner yelling at his staff. This place has had a 20 person covid outbreak as well that the owner never reported. Stopped in for drinks. Busy place, but they have a large, free parking lot. Your typical pub: high top, regular table, booth seating and lots of TVs. Pricing on all of the food and drink is very reasonable and they have daily specials as well as live entertainment. Service was friendly and quick, but they had a terrible beer selection. After 20 mins my surf and turf came out - it was a beefsteak patty with 3 tiger shrimps. The Triple Cheeseburger is very different from when I last had one there. I found it to be a lot drier, and the bun-to-burger ratio could have been better. On the bright side, the fries were just as good as they were before. If I return as a customer, I'll order something else. read more

Every since the new ownership has taken over the food and service has gone progressively downhill. The food is very inconsistent, staff is always changing, certain products they are cheaping out on such as napkins and peanut butter. I've been here about 3 times with my boyfriend, the last was what made me not want to go back again. The first two were decent, it's just a restaurant that sells regular pub food, nothing special ..they USED to have amazing chicken fingers & fries that didn't seem to taste frozen at all (we found out yesterday they were). So yesterday, we decided to get the chicken fingers & fries again ..this time I remembered them tasting a lot better, they didn't seem to taste like what I remembered. The first time I got the ranch chicken wrap which was good but tasted a little too charred. With our 2 orders of chicken fingers and fries we also ordered an order of Mac & cheese to share ..it was pretty good but they forgot the Panko crumbs when the menu specifically said it was topped with that. The waitress came and sent it back to the kitchen to get it remade. She came back about 10-15 minutes later with a new dish & this time instead of Panko crumbs there was COCONUT! Who in the world puts coconut on Mac & cheese! What if I was allergic to coconut? So at this point I was highly annoyed, not only were they messing up our food our waitress was no where to be found so my boyfriend had to get up & get her. We explained to her how there was coconut in our mac & cheese & she immediately said she would take it off our bill so that was good. Since this experience I don't think I'll be going back. I had been to this place around 3 times and was never really impressed with the service. I do however really enjoy the jerk wings with Caesar dressing. I convinced one of my best friends to join me one night for the wings. We were greeted promptly at the door, seated, and our drink order taken. It was not very busy that night. Our drinks came right away and menus were presented to us. We knew what we wanted so it didn't take us very long to decide. We placed the menus on the other side of the table hoping that the server would realize we were ready to order. We had to ask someone to send our server over. This took a while. My buddy ordered first, his order was the jerk wings with Caesar dressing, an order of fries with gravy. When the sever turned to me, I said "I will have exactly the same". We enjoyed our drinks and awaited our food. My friend's order arrived soon but mine did not, I figured my food was on its way shortly. I waited and finished my beer. I had to flag the waitress down to ask about my food. She had the nerve to ask me if I had ordered anything, I told her that I had specifically said I would have the exact same thing as my friend. Her response was "I must have not heard you, I will place a rush on your order" and quickly went into the kitchen. My beer was empty and I tried to flag someone down to get another one, you would figure the the server would have noticed this and asked if I wanted another one while I waited for my food. This was another process that took a while. My drink came with my wings. As I am a little OCD, I have my food in sections. I waited for my fries to arrive as I eat them first. After a short while, I had to flag the server down again and asked about my fries.. Her response was "I didn't know you had ordered fries, I will get a rush order in". The fries arrived shortly without the gravy, again her comment was "I didn't know you had ordered gravy, I will get you some" not sure what part of "I will have exactly the same" she didn't understand throughout this visit. New pub night. more like new pub not! My husband and I wanted to mix things up and try a new pub, I wish we used Yelp instead of google maps to choose the location. The Stone Corner Pub, from the website and menu (they advertise gluten free and veg friendly items) appeared to be a great choice. Situated in the corner of a strip mall the exterior was nothing to write home about, but the interior was comfortable enough. Save the extra low booth seats/high tables (you might want to request a phone book to sit on) and the oddly positioned televisions (they all face the door). The food, however was something to write about. It was Tapas night at the pub, so you can try a variety of app items for only 5.99. Mistakenly, we ordered the mussels in a coconut curry sauce. If you like extremely fishy and off tasting seafood, this ones for you. Dinner was not much better. My husband ordered the Jerk Chicken Sandwich which was supposed to include chicken, but was just a sloppy pile of extra creamy coleslaw and avocado on a brioche bun. After looking closely, we did find one scrap of chicken about the size of a quarter. I ordered the vegetarian burger. Housemade patty (i'm guessing) that was overly abundant with sage and thyme and squishier than the bun. Both our plates went back to the kitchen full, but out server didn't bother to ask if the food was ok or even if we wanted to take it home. I'm shocked to see that the reviews are so low. I discovered this place via Stone Cottage, the much more run down sister pub in Scarborough. I've been here about ten times and each time try something new on the menu and it's always great. The Monday special is $3 cocktails which is great. The staff is a hit or miss and sometimes it can feel you're not getting the best service you could if you were spending more. It's not a big place but I would recommend stopping in to give their food a try before trusting all of the 1 stars reviews. read more

This place is what you would expect your local pub to be, nothing special, simple food, quickly seated as it's often fairly empty, little pub atmosphere. It's our local watering hole and we never had high expectations for the food, it's more like a place to grab a cold beer and if you want food they have it. Nachos are pretty good just ask for the chilli or sauce on the side or they will get soggy. They have great daily specials. Monday's they have a $5 burger and fresh cut fries combo and usually a $5 pint of Guinness $10 for a big burger, fresh fries and beer... That's better than McDonalds! Tuesday's they have cheap wings and they are pretty good as far as pubs go. Get them dusted. My fav is the mild or honey BBQ and add a side of fresh cut fries for $3. We usually get their Cajun Caesar wrap or BBQ chicken wrap, those have yet to disappoint. As for the weekend breakfast, super cheap and actually really good. The eggs Benny is better than some breakfast joints I've been to. Give it a try just don't expect high quality dining, expect cheap pub food, good drinks and often good live bands on Fridays. One last note, they are often under staffed which sucks so it can be slow service at times but we've come to expect that, it's just nice and cheap and so close to home we don't seem to mind anymore haha. read more

I've been to this pub about 4 times now and I am determined to try everything on the menu! Pickering has not seen a place like this in years! I was SHOCKED to see these awful reviews as I spend a lot of my time raving about this place. When you walk in you are greeted like you are family and the colours and décor are very warm and welcoming. Every time I have been so far I have had the pleasure of experiencing a different server all of whom have been extremely attentive and clearly love working there. So if you haven't checked out this place yet please do!!!!!!!!! Lets make this place out own little "cheers" in Pickering. I'm going tonight to watch one of my favourite bands Marc Joseph Band!! Dropped in with hubby so he could try the all you eat wings. I'm a vegetarian so I was enticed by their online menu with vege items. the meal was on point. He really enjoyed his wings and my black bean soup and vege sandwich was delicious best I've had in Durham. I would return for my exact meal. It was delicious. My only complaint, seemed like only 2 ladies were working the bar and serving which made service a little slow. I went to stone corner for the second time in my life. First time was for my best friends 26th birthday, a month ago (terrible service a.k.a none). That time, we had to ask other people we knew to buy us drinks because the bartenders only served people they knew. This time we attended after the jays game ( myself and my best friend who celebrated her birthday last month). We had ONE drink, sang two karaoke songs when the security guard approached myself (27) and my best friend (26, that celebrated her birthday the month before). He asked for IDs after we had already been there for half an hour and had already provided them upon entrance to the bar. We provided him with our driver licenses. He disappeared and we found him back at the front. I asked him for my ID back when he decided to ask me for my zodiac sign name street name age etc. Then he proceeds to ask for a second piece of ID. I provided him with my health card and he said ok. He did the same with my friend and she didn't bring a second piece as she is 26 years old. The security guard repeated over and over that she is lying and she is not 26, and after drinking our drinks we both had to leave. Very strange to allow two "underage girls" to finish their drinks before kicking them out. I asked why I had to leave as I provided him with two pieces of ID and he said that I did not.....I showed him my two pieces AGAIN , and he said that I could stay and my friend could not. We got upset and left as we didn't like the treatment. As we were standing outside, the bartender then told my friend she was NOT going back inside and the OWNER said she is under age. They should maybe invest in an ID scanner or not let people in and then accuse them of being underage especially when they are not. The stone is known for having bad service, and now this is the last straw. I know the owner won't care about this review because he clearly has no customer service skills, but maybe people can be warned about this sad bar in Pickering. read more

Have been there about once a month since opening. In that time I've had several conversations with staff and management who seem very receptive to suggestions. With that, and I'm not trying to take full credit, I've seen many improvements. Their wings have gone from average to excellent (apparently they've changed the cooking process and supplier). Their fish and chips have gone from a tempura batter to a beer batter - much better. I've had the pizza - amazing and my wife had the pork , incredible. Overall I'm seeing huge improvements in the food and wouldn't hesitate recommending to a friend (or yulp). In respect to service, every experience has been A1. In reading the other reviews I'm having a hard time understanding what happened. I'll I can say is that they really seem very customer focused and are trying hard to make the place a friendly neighborhood pub. I really like the "Corner" and will be back this month. read more

Would NEVER go there again. Food is brutal, comparable to a sub-par roadhouse. We waited over 20 min to be served, and when we asked the bartender if we could order a drink, she snipped that she would send someone over, and then went back to chatting with a customer. We were told we would have to move, as the DJ was setting up where we were, and we waited for a table at the bar to open and moved. We ordered a drink and appetizer and after an hour, were told we would have to move again - we asked why we hadn't been told before we'd moved twice already, and why there wasn't a reserved sign on the table, and she promptly walked behind the bar and dropped a Reserved sign in the middle of our table. The waitress, manager and bartender were so rude, we couldn't believe it. We told her to bring our bill and we'd leave when we finished our drinks. I should write this restaurant off however the food was good. Service was terrible and it didn't seem like they cared to do anything about. Dinner started off by being seated at a table that was reserved but without a sign and we were asked to move 5 minutes later. We were then seated by the entrance door with winter draft and were everyone stands when they come in waiting to be seated. Then we waited longer to find out if an empty booth was available. Crab cakes came cold and when we sent them back, we never seen them again. Side salad came as a full size salad. Charged for full size salad. Server thought he was doing something big for not charger for disappearing crab cakes. Never asked if we wanted another drink. Poor management! read more

This is a GREAT PLACE for food, drink and fun! Every time I've been to the Corner, there is a good sized crowd at the bar, and the dining tables are usually always full. (...which probably means people ENJOY THE FOOD...I SURE DO! comments below are surprising to me as I have heard nothing but good things from people that have been there). The menu is great, something for everyone. Butter Chicken Pizza is a must-try!! My experience with the service has been nothing but PLEASENT. If things do go wrong, (which is normal sometimes, because that's LIFE!) the staff is there to quickly fix it and make sure you have what you need to enjoy yourself. Great live music on different evenings of the week and weekend! With space being limited, the staff does their best to accommodate everyone (reservations and walk-in traffic) so that we can all enjoy the amazing talent that they bring into Corner.
