Earlier today I met my family at The B&B for brunch. This was my first time having brunch at this Pub after having had Thanksgiving dinner here - also with my family - the past three years in a row (see my previous reviews below). I arrived just before 12 noon when the venue had quite a few customers present but it wasn't packed. For brunch I believe the three of us picked the same choice: The Simple Breakfast, which consists of two eggs any style (I chose scrambled), Home fries and toast (I chose whole wheat bread) with choice of bacon, ham, sausages or peameal bacon. They give you 3 of whichever you choose and I chose sausages. The portions of practically everything were pretty huge which made for a good deal considering the price, and I found everything quite delicious. In my previous review I noted that we had fairly lengthy waits after our meals were finished at our last visit and I took off half a star in my rating. Today we had kind of a long wait for our bill but not like last time, and due to the quality and quantity of food I received with respect to the price and our friendly server, I decided to 'add back' the half star to restore a perfect rating. My family and I might make it back here for another meal before long, but if not this will likely be our Pub of choice for Thanksgiving dinner once again in October. read more

Food was excellent as always. Door Dash screwed up my order, I sent the delivery guy back to get what was missing, he came back with yet again the wrong thing. I called B&B, and a server said she would deliver it herself on her e-bike, and she did, in the rain. That is way above and beyond, I think her name was Diota, but I'm not sure I heard it correctly. Do you know what Gold you have in this Employee? I was beyond impressed that she corrected it herself, when Door dash, their kitchen, and the delivery guy all got it wrong. you should give her The delivery guys tip, and a gift certificate, very few people care anymore about how they screw up, or piss people off, but she did, and she did that for YOU. Came with a group of 4 friends for brunch at the Bishop and Belcher. Overall, it was a hit - food is reasonably priced, portion size is good and everything was pretty tasty. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict and it did not disappoint. My dining companions all enjoyed their food as well. One thing I would note is that the entrance door is very heavy. I actually thought that the door was locked and I circled around the building to find an alternate entrance until a fellow patron came over to open it for me. Okay! Chicken quinoa salad! You expect chicken, quinoa, tipping.. But the plate came with no quinoa on it. Just arugula and payed 20 bucks for that. They lady was so lovely to bring me quinoa on the side because it wasn't enough. But I don't get why the salad is called chicken quinoa salad if most of it is arugula. Very disappointed! For a large table, we found it difficult to flag down our waiter when we wanted to pay and needed more water. Came here on a random date night. I was at a planner Meetup near by and my boyfriend had to work late. He knew this place was a few streets away so we walked over. The place was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night but we were seated right away. The service the whole time was surprisingly quick. The server was friendly, nice and attentive despite it being busy. Even the server guy Drew, who cleared our plates after our meal was friendly and hilarious to chat with. Drink wise Budweiser and Brickworks cider were on sale so we went with those. Food wise we ordered the jalepeno poppers and the Thai chicken bites. The food was surprisingly good for their cheap prices. The jalepeno poppers we're $9 for 6 good sized poppers. The poppers themselves weren't amazing but they weren't bad either. Just fried pepper and cheese. They came with a sour cream dipping sauce. The Thai chicken bites were really flavorful. Hearty pieces definitely gives you your money's worth for the $11 plate. They had the perfect balance of breading, sauce and chicken. The breading stayed crispy and held up well against the sauce, without getting soggy but somehow still holding all the flavor. I would go back again just for more of those Thai bites. Great food, great service and cheap prices. read more

A decent pub to go to if you're looking for a more quiet and peaceful place to eat. It's a lot less rowdy than most of the busier pubs around the area and in the summer there is a nice patio outside to have your meals as well. They have daily specials and usually a special for drinks as well. It's usually a bit busier in the spring/summer, but it seems fairly easy to get seating most of the time. The food is your typical pub menu, but they have a lot of specials you won't find at Jack Astors or Earls. I've had the liver, bacon and onion meal here and it was great. Even having it the day after as leftovers was quite delicious as it's a fair bit to eat in one sitting. Their wings are also pretty decent, although not as crispy as I would like, they get the job done. There are also various kinds of Asian inspired foods and of course burgers, sandwiches and various appetizers. Normally pubs really don't have much to write home about, but with recent closures in the nearby area due to construction, upcoming developments, and the rest, Bishop has survived and become quite popular! Their menu is extensive and cover all the comfort food needs - pastas, salads, burgers, poutines, wings, soups, and more! They've got a decent selection of beers on tap and specials every night of the week, making them perfect for those late night dinners after a long day's work, or happy hour, or laziness... The place itself isn't much to write about. It's a little squishy, the place is a little old, but they have a sizeable patio tucked off to a side street and far enough from any nearby construction. Lots of umbrellas for shade, even water bowls for your canine friends. The biggest plus is that most of their food is priced quite generously for Yonge/Bloor area, and it actually tastes pretty good! Down Bloor you can find other pubs with different fare, but their taste and wait times are horrible in comparison. There hasn't been anything of the menu that's been disappointing, and the price is always so reasonable. They've also got great lunch deals that are great portion sizes - though it could get busy and mean a longer lunchtime. All in all, no major complaints - aside this always becoming the default spot after a long day's work at the office! I won't be returning to the Bishop and Belcher. We had a group dinner there, and my friend ordered a martini. It was not drinkable so we advised the waitress, Anna. My friend ordered an orange juice to improve the martini and Anna returned with a slice of orange BY HER FINGERS (no plate or anything) and gave it like a dangly worm to my friend. In goodwill, my friend took the dangly orange and submerged it into the martini, still undrinkable not only to her but some of us who tried it as well. Zero compassion and reaction in fact from the blank-look unfriendly and unprofessional waitress. My friend ordered another drink. She was charged for both drinks although the waitress gave us the impression that it was a replacement for the undrinkable martini. When it was bill paying time. I myself gave a 12% tip because, to be honest, I know from my waitress friends that waitressing is not easy but this service was not worth even 1% I have to say. Some others in the group gave 15% and even 20% tip but she was demanding 18% from the whole group. We called and spoke to the restaurant but the manager didn't call back. read more

I have lived a block away from this pub for years, but it always seemed so hidden and ....well, I will be honest....run down, that I stalled on checking them out. Until last Saturday night. My friend and I met here for dinner, and on Saturdays they have a platter special: wings, fries, onion rings, cheese bread, chicken fingers and fried pickles for $19.95. It's a great deal actually, and more than enough for two people. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because not all the items in the platter were good. We were not fans of the cheese bread and fried pickles, and the wing flavors were so so (the soy one literally tasted like the wings were drowned in pure soy sauce - yuck). The service was really good, and the daily beer specials are not bad - on certain days they have good beers on special ($4.50 for a pint). And surprisingly, the inside is actually quite bright, and not as run down as I expected it to be (sorry for being so judgmental!) Will return. :) read more

I had been to this place many times before with no issue, however this time the service was so terrible we had to leave before we even ordered anything. The server was very unprofessional, mistaking my friend in an accusatory tone for being a patron they had problems with before. Even though my friend insisted it was his first time there, she made us feel very unwelcome and we didn't feel comfortable staying. Had she approached it in a friendly way, we might have just laughed the whole thing off but instead she doubled down on the accusation and we were confused and shocked by her attitude. Met up with some friends last evening for a birthday gathering, the food was very disappointing and the service was not much better. The waitress couldn't be bothered to even provide decent service. When asked for water for the table, she didn't even bother to provide enough glasses for everyone. When asked what beer she had in bottles , her response, it on the menu And walked away.I had ordered the California club, the bread was soggy, no mayo. I asked for mayo, her response, that's an extra dollar, which I proceeded to show on the menu that the club is supposed to have a side of mayo. She apologized and then tried to charge me regardless. Came in here after work one night for dinner. It was a Wednesday night but the place was pretty full. Upon entry there is an array of board games that you can feel free to take to back to your seat and enjoy. The hostess told us to sit wherever we liked and she'd be over. Our small dark wood table was located in a cozy corner backing a window. The table had a box of trivial pursuit cards from the 60's perhaps? We couldn't answer any of the questions though. After sometime our friendly waiter finally greeted us, took drink orders and left us with the menus. The menu consists of typical pub fare plus a whole section of Indian & Asian fare plus they have nightly specials. Roast Beef Dip + kettle chips - Shaved oven roasted sirloin beef on a kaiser with aus jus dip The bun was really nice with ample sesame seeds and did not fall apart or get soggy but the beef was super dry. A little too dry but at least the au jus helped rescue the sandwich. The real winner of the entree was the kettle chips! Definitely get them as a side, warm, golden, crunchy, and super addictive. Butter Chicken Tali - Served with curried veggies, salad, raita, mango chutney, vegetable samosa & jasmin rice. Beautiful presentation and great assortment! My sister asked for it to be extra hot and they definitely did kick up the heat. It didn't come with naan but we asked for a side ($1 more) but it turned out to be pita bread. Dessert Chocolate Fudge Brownie - A silky fudge brownie with chopped walnuts, topped with carmel and chocolate sauce served with vanilla ice crem. So that was the description, and the brownie definitely looked yummy but taste wise it was very disappointing. The brownie was soo hard and cold not warm at all (stale?) and they dusted it with cinnamon, I have no clue why but it just tasted awful the whole thing had a funny tast. I liked the tea bags though, they were Tetley but came with a drawstring, I've never seen this before! I live very close to the bishop and belcher and have never been disappointed by the food, service or atmosphere. This place is packed after work and for games. The menu is surprisingly huge and they have a great feature on every night (my favourite is their Thursday nacho night where they do their spin on Asian nachos). All of the food I had has been great, they have some cool salads that don't lack flavour or excitement. The wings are good as well as their burgers. Definitely a great place to grab a quick bite to eat and watch the game or to come with a group for a cheaper night out! Family friendly as well:) read more

I occasionally come here to meet friends for lunch since they work in the area. Service is usually friendly and efficient, but at times can be slow. Food is standard pub fare with a variety of other cultural food items and they have many beers on tap. Certainly something for everyone's palate and all reasonably priced. Plus they have daily specials available. Today being St. Patrick's Day they had a lot of tables reserved. Luckily, my friends came early around 11:40am and had no issue being seated in the nook by the entrance. The server we had must be new as she seemed flustered when taking our orders and this was only the start of the lunch rush when the place wasn't even busy yet. Service was beyond slow today. My friends only received their beers shortly before I arrived and they told me it took over 15 minutes. I ordered my beer and it took just as long as well. We were a table of three and everyone seated around us were tables of twos. Somehow they all received their food and finished it before our food arrived. We waited almost an hour for our food! We didn't order anything fancy....burgers and Sheppard's Pie which are standard pub fare. Our server did come by once to apologize for the delay with our food blaming it on the printer being out of paper? In addition, my second pint arrived well after my meal was served. Just astonished that everyone around us finished their meals when we just received ours, plus the fact we arrived before they did. Why did our food take extra long? I did take a peek into the main dining room and it wasn't busy as I expected for being St. Patrick's Day. Thankfully, my friends weren't in a rush to get back to the office except one of them had a meeting at 2pm. Since we were extremely famish when the food arrived, we ate rather quickly. Good thing there weren't any issues with the food or else we would have given up and just had our liquid diet for lunch. No attempt to reduce our food bill or compensate us for our long food wait, but our bill did arrive extra quick. Overall, good place for standard pub food in the area. Am sure this was just a one off, so I will dismiss it because service is usually pretty good since we're in and out of the pub within an hour. The second last time I came here, the waitress couldn't separate the bill and it took close to 30 minutes to get separate bills. Although there was one person in our party who kept on insisting they change the bill, but still, it should have taken 15 minutes and not more than that. I came again today and we wanted a simple lunch and be in and out within an hour. We arrived at 12, didn't get drinks until 12:25 and then was served at 12:45, so we had to rush our meals and still didn't finish until 1:30. It was very average at best. The only reason I come here is because it is across the street from work and our company thinks it'll be quick, when in reality, it takes forever and it'd be faster walking an extra 5 minutes and getting better service and food. You find that you hit the chain pubs when there's nothing else really around that tickles the fancy and you're just looking for the softer option. The Bishop & Belcher is a decent enough pub if you're in the area and are looking for the soft option. As British as you can be while being built into an office building, the B&B provides your basics in British fare, a good run of taps, and friendly enough staff. The food quality is decent enough, neither offending nor exciting in equal measure. There are tons of other pubs that provide similar fare. There's TVs you can watch sports on if a particular game catches your fancy. It's adequate enough. No special trip necessary, but okay to go to if you're in the hood. read more
