Of course I had to come here to check out that espresso martini because I've been hearing about it. Super cool location in downtown Black Mountain on the corner. They did such a good job in appearance and aesthetics. Inside is very beautiful and they really made the space work. It feels modern and hip and fun. Spacious which makes it seem a little more like drop by/bar hop and not very cozy so I wouldn't wanna make this my neighborhood spot. More like a little happy hour drop by. But that's certainly serves a purpose too. Great windows for epic people watching. I love their signage and what they offer. It is mostly just some simple cocktails, as well as beers on draft. Quite expensive, but that's on par for this part of town. The espresso martini was absolutely delicious. The fresh pulled espresso really made it an absolute hit. Victoria (the "manager") is EXTREMELY rude. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We visited from out of town with three dogs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a coffee, beer, & a martini & took them outside with our dogs. Victoria came out & told us that we were not supposed to have alcoholic drinks outside & there were signs on the tables. We told her we didn't know because the table we were sitting at did not have a sign. She said it was ok & she "would let it slide" this once. She went back in & then proceeded to run her mouth & talk dirty about us to other customers sitting at her bar. We could hear EVERYTHING she was saying to all of her customers! She accused us of "ripping the sign off the table"! After listening to her bash us for two minutes my husband went in & confronted her, she started apologizing & said there were signs on the tables. My husband urged her to go look at our table; her response was "the signs were there when I opened today." Victoria is too rude & very unprofessional to be talking trash about customers, especially where they can hear her. We took our unfinished drinks back in & gave them back to her, demanded a refund of our drinks & her 30% tip that we left her. To Randy M - A common sense approach would be to politely ask the family to quieten down the baby or walk outside with him first and continue enjoying your drinks. That did not happen. It's my choice as a parent if I decide to bring my child into a coffee/bar establishment at 5 pm. If you do not want children in your establishment then put a sign up saying you must be 21 to enter and no children allowed. You'll understand that when you have children one day. Black Mountain promotes a family type atmosphere. This establishment is definitely not family friendly. They will need local support in the winter months to survive. read more
