My Smokehouse Burger was not only massive, but also dripping with BBQ flavor, with the crisp onion rings adding a delicious texture to the perfectly cooked patty. My wife enjoyed the restaurant's signature Riverwatch Burger -- a more traditional choice that was just as large and almost as delicious. Riverwatch says it serves the best burgers in North Carolina, and it's hard to argue with that claim. There are nearly two dozen different burgers on the menu, and they all look amazing. If burgers aren't your thing, the restaurant also serves salads, sandwiches, hot dogs and other fare. But they're famous for their burgers, so find one that fits your taste and dive in. The beer selection here is also terrific, with a number of local and regional NC crafts on tap and in bottles. And the service on our recent visit was outstanding. Seating is available outside or on the spacious deck overlooking the Broad River, which is a great place to enjoy a good meal and a fantastic view of the Hickory Nut Gorge and the distinctive Chimney Rock, towering high above the valley. Like much of this area, Riverwatch endured traumatic damage during Hurricane Helene, but reopened in September 2025. Well worth the drive from anywhere in North or South Carolina!

When traveling on vacation it's always a bonus when you can meet up with friends 513 miles from…read morehome especially when it's in a setting as cool as the Moose & Goose Lounge located inside the Lake Lure 1927 Hotel. Finding seats at the bar for six is no easy task on a Friday night so whether the stars aligned or knowing Margaret the always friendly and sometimes professional bartender was the reason for it, it was the perfect place to enjoy a few amazing cocktails and a snack after driving the better half of the day. The lounge is easily accessible from the porch or the lobby of the hotel, I won't say it's small but it is cozy. There's an oddly shaped bar along the back wall and a few tables window side otherwise it's standing room only. Margaret runs the show and if you're looking for a little harmless bantering then she'll give you all you want, she'll also pour you legendary cocktails that will have you wanting just one more no matter how long you stay. After finishing my go to summertime drink Redbull & Tito's while the sun set behind the mountains it was time to test the bartender's skill set - nothing's better than a barely dirty Ketel One martini shaken cold, up with a few cheese stuffed olives, well she quickly corrected my description of a cocktail that I've been consuming for decades - I guess the correct term is a slutty martini verses the barely dirty terminology. I may have deserved that since I did ask her if she knew how to make a great martini (see attached photo) I think the photo proved she's made a few and the taste validated any doubt I may have had - it was delicious. There's lots to do in Lake Lure although it may appear otherwise, but one should experience this place if possible...

It's incredible what the owner has done with the place, and the food is awesome. I'm not sure why I'm even writing this review, I'd really rather keep this place quiet and have it all to myself.... But it deserves the five stars.

The location is incredibly quaint--tucked into a cute, woodsy area around Lake Laura. You can't…read moreactually see the lake from the restaurant, but the whole setting still feels peaceful and charming. Today there was even a puppy there, Miguel, who was the sweetest little host/co-host. The hostess was great too--super friendly, patient with all my questions, and just welcoming overall. Another woman, maybe a local or another staff member, also chatted with me while I was waiting, which made the whole experience feel even warmer. The food was outstanding. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection. The rice was fantastic, the salad was delicious, and everything on the plate just hit. I also had the seasonal apple cider margarita, which was phenomenal. They even offered me a free dessert--maybe extras from an event the day before--but it was such a thoughtful touch. Before heading out, I grabbed two bottles of wine to go (they had a special) and took a glass of wine to enjoy in one of their outdoor areas. The grounds are very garden-forward. I visited in the fall, so the foliage wasn't at its peak, but the property is undeniably gorgeous. They have fire pits and outdoor heaters everywhere. I took my glass of wine to the back and sat on a swing--the hostess actually recommended it--and it was the perfect little moment. This is where things got a bit odd: once I moved outside, I didn't really feel acknowledged anymore. Maybe because I didn't have a server at that point, but when I left, there was no "Have a good day," which felt a little off after such a great experience. Still, it doesn't outweigh everything else. Overall, I'll definitely be back. Food: 10/10. Vibes: 10/10. I just wish my exit had felt a bit more appreciated--but it is what it is. Loved this place.

Went to this restaurant for the Brunch on Sunday. Wife and I arrived without reservations and we…read morewere told to wait a few minutes. The host came back and said there wouldn't be a problem as long as it was an inside table. When the waitress arrived with the water we asked her for two Bloody Marys and we went to serve ourselves from the buffet Food was delicious starting with the omelette station and the rest of the items including the prime rib. The drinks never arrived and the waitress never came back with water, she actually never came to our table, we had to ask for water to the busser same for the check. I am not sure what their system is but looks chaotic since you help yourself to the food it should be fairly easy to assign zones or tables to each server. We walked out to the veranda and came back in the building to seat in the lounge where a pianola was on auto play, really nice environment that takes you back a few decades. The Inn is called The 1927 Lake Lure Inn

Margret was our server somehow I don't think this was by accident I had met her a few days earlier at the hotel bar - she has been here for years and years and some of our friends have been enjoying her amazing personality and high level service for a decade or more. Once seated she offered to put our drink orders in while we explored the feast laid out in the adjoining room, the drinks are made at the hotel bar but they have a table set up to allow you to customize your specialty drinks i.e. Bloody Mary's are amazing before any modifications. The food was simple but elegantly displayed, the quality of the product was exceptional and the preparation was very creative and professional. I started at the omelette station two burners and a limited selection of ingredients but all delicious and being I'm not a veggie guy the meats and cheese exceeded my expectations. The neighboring stations were both carving stations, beef and ham both cooked to the perfect temperature and very tender and flavorful - yes I made two trips. I tried a few of the other sides trying my best to stay away for the carbohydrates that most of the side dishes bring with them. Well as much will power and restraint that I have it all slowly eroded away each time I passed the dessert table. The chocolate fountain surround by sliced pineapple, strawberries and cubes of moist cake, lemon and chocolate pies, cheese cake, chocolate cake, cookies and omg peach cobbler - trust me you can gain a few pounds just by being close to this table. The service was spectacular and the total package price is ridiculously reasonable - I don't think you need to lower your expectations to throughly enjoy this brunch but you do need to keep things in perspective this is a small community and this nostalgic hotel / restaurant puts it all out there so enjoy...
