Off we went... we started with a plate of cheesy crinkle fries, cooked perfectly. I was impressed by one thing that many restaurants don't do - they layered the cheese within the fries. So cheesy all over, inside and out, and not just on top. SCORE! I went with just six wings, and that just was the perfect amount to share with others who wanted to taste it. They weren't huge pieces, but plenty juicy, nicely crisp and overall pretty good, with just the right hint of mild buttery buffalo sauce. Service was friendly, and although the dining room was pretty full, we could still hold a decent conversation on our table.

Walking into Lucky's, you're immediately engulfed with the iconic Dive Bar ambiance. This style option defines your experience, good vibe, good food. Our server was very friendly, fit the vibe, explained the menu and seasonal options well. As for the burger, patties cooked perfectly juicy. I must say, one would think that Peanut Butter does not go with burgers. This is an extremely wrong opinion, an old way of thinking if you must. Not really sure how to explain it, peanut butter was a perfect replacement for mayo. Drizzling the Raspberry jelly was truly the best way to go. Just as important, the bun was local and fresh, while holding up to the weight of this sandwich. I can see why this burger and Lucky's won best burger multiple times. No matter what city I'm in, I'm probably looking for wings. We spent some time searching around and eventually I let him make the final call. I'll be honest, at first I wasn't completely sold on the choice. But we were only about five minutes away, so I figured why not give it a shot. That spot ended up being Wolf Burger. We got there sometime around early afternoon, probably between 1 and 2, so it was calm inside. No long waits, no packed tables, just a relaxed atmosphere and quick service. I already knew exactly what I was ordering before we even sat down. Then the wings came out. Right away they looked promising. Good size, evenly coated, and you could tell immediately they were fresh out of the fryer. Some wings look good until you bite into them. These backed it up immediately. First bite, then second, then third, and by that point I already knew these were serious. What stood out most was how balanced everything felt. The wings had a crisp exterior without crossing into being overly hard or dry. Underneath that crunch, the meat stayed tender and juicy all the way through. They were also bigger than your average wing, which gave every bite more substance. Sometimes larger wings lose texture or flavor, but that never happened here. The buffalo sauce isn't trying to reinvent the wheel, and honestly, it doesn't need to. The flavor is familiar in the best way possible. Classic buffalo heat with the right amount of richness, enough to complement the chicken instead of overpowering it. Some places lean too hard into making their sauce unique and forget the wing itself still has to shine. Wolf Burger understood the assignment. The sauce works as an enhancement rather than the entire identity of the wing, and because of that, every part of the wing gets to stand out. One thing that always matters to me is consistency, and this place proved itself there too. A few weeks after my first visit, I happened to be within a couple hours of the area again. Most places I enjoy stay as a good memory and that's it. This one stuck with me enough that I actually made the drive back just to get these wings again. Sometimes the second visit exposes flaws you missed the first time. Not here. They were every bit as good as I remembered. I also appreciated how accommodating they were when I asked for all flats, which is always my preference. Small detail, but details matter when you're serious about wings. Being from the Chicago area, I've had wings from some genuinely elite spots, so I don't hand out praise easily. Wolf Burger absolutely belongs in the conversation. If this place were in Chicago, it would have no problem building a loyal following. These wings don't rely on gimmicks or overcomplicated flavors. They simply execute every important part at a really high level, and sometimes that's exactly what makes a wing memorable. Rating: 8.95/10
