I've had meals at the star on more than a few occasions and have celebrated many birthdays and parties of both friends and family there. Its a classic small village pub with as much gossip and trivial rivalries as an episode of east enders so long as your a local. The pub itself is a popular stop off point for walkers in need of a cup of tea and some lunch, as well as a break from the weather, and unlike some places of these kind, the regular patrons leave visitors be and keep the village drama to the village. Meals there are perhaps on the slightly pricey side for a pub meal although I can highly recommend choosing from the 'something special' section of the menu, I particularly enjoy the Grafton belly pork which is farmed, along with all other pork dishes on the menu, just round the corner. One piece of advice I would give to any of you that decide to taste the food there, be quite insistent on the cooking of the vegetables. I have a particular bug bear against under cooked peas, peas should not be aldante, its just wrong, and it is common practice by the chef to seemingly dabble the veg in hot water for a brief moment and presume that means their cooked. That however is the only thing preventing my lovely local pub from getting a 5 star rating read more
