My first visit was a couple of weeks ago. I was a little apprehensive about it based on other…read morereviews, but wanted a specific begonia that they carry. It is primarily a mail order business in a niche market with 95% of the plants they sell being well rooted cuttings in 3 - 4 inch pots. Variety is great for a plant collector or enthusiast. Most plants will take years before being mature. Plants are in the growing greenhouses with labels having botanica names. There are no fancy displays, photos, or growing information and very few mature plants to view. It is a treasure for those wanting plants not commonly available from majority of nurseries or big box stores. In preparation for my visit, I made sure that I had an appointment (only open a few days or hours a week, only a couple of people allowed at any one time, and only with an appointment) and had looked through their website a couple of times with a list in hand of the plants I was interested in. I arrived on time, consideration and courtesy matter. Rosa greeted me and was very friendly and helpful in orienting me and finding the plants I was interested in. I ended up buying about twice as many that were on my original list. I'm thrilled with the plants I bought and so glad that this unique, privately owned, business exists.

If you're a foodie or if you enjoy rare or tropical fruit or even if you're a fan of botanical gardens, this place is amazing It's a mom and pop place (actually just a pop place cause I think the owner Steve who started it still runs it by himself). The sign said they have been here since the 80s. Anyway because it's a small nursery and open 7 days a week, it's a good idea to call if you're planning to make a long journey to visit just to make sure they haven't stepped out. It's usually fine but I see people on other reviews have come in from far away without calling and it's just a good idea to call if it's a mom and pop nursery and you have a long drive. My favorite fruit was white sapote, cherimoya, the bazillions of types of guavas they have, ice cream bean was delicious, and I never knew palms have delicious fruit (what????). I come about twice a year from San Diego and as San Diego nurseries go, this place is in a league of its own. I even just like walking around in there to relax cause it's almost like a fruit botanical garden. And some of the small stuff is very affordable Highly recommend if you have a few hours free to explore this place. It's a great nursery -- kinda like the Garden of Eden!

We've had some of our plants from them in our yard for years, and they flourish! The variety, plus all the other cool garden decor and items you can think of, make this place a fan favorite of mine since I was a little kid (and I'm almost 40). When he finally responded, he claimed he didn't have it just to avoid looking into it, then it turned out they did have it. Once I showed interest, he raised the price on the exact same tree ( have proof of the price he gave me in writing he didn't care). Nothing changed except that he knew I wanted it. When I asked him to honor the original price, he got very rude raised his voice called me a crybaby lol. EDIT: when he saw the review called me a liar and bunch of other things. I told Him his competitors had the same tree if he'd price match. He called them liars as well and said they were cheating people. Had to block his number to get him to stop spamming me....Weird guy.

I love that they have a greeter here at the door to direct you to where you need to go. Most of the time when I'm here I know what I want so it's a quick trip in and out. Being able to immediately ask where the specific item is located is so helpful and time saving. What I dislike is the vendors they sometimes have inside at the front of the store. While I get they are promoting their businesses, I have encountered some that are quite aggressive and do not take a simple "no thank you" for an answer. I have had to uncomfortably walk away while they are still pushing their info on numerous occasions. Often times it's for solar, but the last one was for water filtration. I don't need either. Otherwise, I love wandering through the gardening area. They have some beautiful plants/flowers. The staff is helpful and usually says hi. The store is clean and organized. They almost always have what I need and if it's something I can wait on, they are happy to order. I much prefer this company to the other big box store, as I find them much more willing to help. Overall the staff seem happier in their positions. Next time I will enter through the garden area to avoid the sales pitches.
