It is primarily a mail order business in a niche market with 95% of the plants they sell being well rooted cuttings in 3 - 4 inch pots. Variety is great for a plant collector or enthusiast. Most plants will take years before being mature. Plants are in the growing greenhouses with labels having botanica names. There are no fancy displays, photos, or growing information and very few mature plants to view. It is a treasure for those wanting plants not commonly available from majority of nurseries or big box stores. In preparation for my visit, I made sure that I had an appointment (only open a few days or hours a week, only a couple of people allowed at any one time, and only with an appointment) and had looked through their website a couple of times with a list in hand of the plants I was interested in. I arrived on time, consideration and courtesy matter. Rosa greeted me and was very friendly and helpful in orienting me and finding the plants I was interested in. I ended up buying about twice as many that were on my original list. I'm thrilled with the plants I bought and so glad that this unique, privately owned, business exists.

Anyway because it's a small nursery and open 7 days a week, it's a good idea to call if you're planning to make a long journey to visit just to make sure they haven't stepped out. It's usually fine but I see people on other reviews have come in from far away without calling and it's just a good idea to call if it's a mom and pop nursery and you have a long drive. My favorite fruit was white sapote, cherimoya, the bazillions of types of guavas they have, ice cream bean was delicious, and I never knew palms have delicious fruit (what????). I come about twice a year from San Diego and as San Diego nurseries go, this place is in a league of its own. I even just like walking around in there to relax cause it's almost like a fruit botanical garden. Unfortunately, we lived in Encinitas so the climate didn't allow the avocado to thrive but she loved getting Asian/Hawaiian plants, and fruits from this nursery. The scene that will greet you is a dirt path and two-sided parking spaces. Try them, very wooded and dense, like you are in the forest, which I loved since I am from back East and we have huge trees and green wooded areas. The staff are very knowledgeable and the value is great. If your plant doesn't grow, call them, and they guide you or replace the plant. I love this place. If I had a house, I would be here for my roses and fruit plants.

They carry a huge variety of tree, berries, grapes, and although the plants cost more than your big box store but there is a huge difference in quality. Large selection of roses in late May, early June. It's fun to shop here. Some of the nursery has uneven ground or loose gravel so be mindful. The variety, plus all the other cool garden decor and items you can think of, make this place a fan favorite of mine since I was a little kid (and I'm almost 40). When he finally responded, he claimed he didn't have it just to avoid looking into it, then it turned out they did have it. Once I showed interest, he raised the price on the exact same tree ( have proof of the price he gave me in writing he didn't care). Nothing changed except that he knew I wanted it. When I asked him to honor the original price, he got very rude raised his voice called me a crybaby lol. EDIT: when he saw the review called me a liar and bunch of other things. I told Him his competitors had the same tree if he'd price match. He called them liars as well and said they were cheating people.
