Sixth Sense Brewing in Jackson turned out to be exactly the kind of place I hoped to stumble into…read moreon a hot early evening, especially after spending time exploring the Jackson County Courthouse. I was thirsty, a little worn out, and definitely ready for air conditioning, so the brewery's name felt almost prophetic. As if some part of me already knew a cold beer was waiting around the corner. And then it really was. I turned the corner, saw the sign and laughed at the coincidence. Weird, eh? Inside, the welcome was immediate. A friendly hostess found me a table with a power outlet, which is always a nice victory when you're traveling and trying to stay charged up. settled in for two hours that were genuinely pleasant. Two light beers hit the spot without knocking me out of ketosis, and the grilled boneless chicken "wings" were exactly the kind of simple, satisfying plate that I wanted after a long hot day. My waitress was lovely, attentive without hovering, and the whole crowd had that upbeat, easygoing energy that makes a brewery restaurant feel like a community space rather than just a place to grab a drink. Between the cold beer, the air conditioning, the friendly vibe, and the chance to unwind after driving all day, Sixth Sense made if feel like they already knew exactly what I needed before I even sat down. One of my friends I met up for dinner worked with me at the Neutral Zone and the other I met there more than 37 years ago. The spot brought back great memories even though it had been totally renovated. The outside still looked the same;) When you walk in you see the bar and several high top tables. There's a dart board at the end of the bar. On the other side are more high top tables a few lower tables and three pool tables. There were lots of tv's as well as a jukebox. On my first visit I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was fresh with light crispy breading. I wasn't a fan of the fries but loved the finely chopped coleslaw. On my second visit I had the reuben sandwhich which was tasty! I didn't want fries and even though a house salad was not on the menu I was served a lovely salad with a boiled egg as a fry substitute. Now that's service deserving of recognition! On both visits my servers were friendly and attentive. On my second visit I was offered a beer sample which I liked and ordered. When I'm in town visiting my family I will definitely be back to try more menu items.

Jerk Riley’s Billiards and Irish Pub - I worked here when I was young. It was a teen nightclub called the Neutral Zone. Pretty cool to check it out after all these years!
