Stopped into this place on a Sunday evening while doing a little road trip by myself. The exterior…read morereminded me of one of the better dive-bars in Philly (that's where I'm from)--homey and comfortable. Andy, the bartender and maybe owner, was very relaxed and friendly. If I recall, we even shared the same birthday. Place itself had a cool bunker vibe, very underground. Big brick walls, almost claustrophobic with small little rooms housing pool tables and a beautiful fireplace, which I'm sure would be cozy as fuck throughout some cold winter months. The infrastructure reminded me of an underground club in NY called Basement, which is the basement of an old glass mill. The locals (Patty in particular) were as friendly and amicable as possible. I told them I was from Philly, and we talked a little about politics. I was a bit worried that I'd be seen as an outsider, but those worries subsided after they bought me a drink. Shame I had to hit the road so quickly (six hour drive ahead of me). In the wake of the election and the shit show that is the U.S. culture-wars, I think we found a moment of kinship in each other's company. I wish more moments in life could be like my experience at Mid-Town Lounge.

Don't let the outside fool you kinda looks sketchy and underground but they make sure your safe and have fun!

Probably the best burger in West Virginia. I always get the name wrong and say "Fairmont Yacht…read moreClub" which would be a lot further away!! Anyway, they have amazing food here and really unique vibe. Outside you'll find a ton of locals who ride in on their side by sides. Right next door is an authentic Appalachian Moonshine Distillery so you can hit up two great places at once. They do a burger of the month here which is what I get almost every time and boy does it smack! One time they had a burger with a crab cake on top...amazing. Another time it had melted cheese and Frito's...also amazing. Even their regular plain Jane burgers are amazing. I would pair the burger of the month with one of the drinks of the month. Once they had this Apple Butter Old Fashioned and I've never had anything quite like it before or since...it was outstanding and even better that it used locally made apple butter. The fried pickle chips are my favorite appetizer. Wings are also a favorite. Fries or onion rings are both great options as sides for your burgers. I really haven't explored much else on the menu past the burgers since I can't get over how fantastic they are. I love all of the boat themed decor inside. The place is absolutely massive and I've never had to wait for a table. I have eaten at both a table and the bar, great service at either. The parking lot is gravel and on a hill. It might be hard to traverse in the winter with a lot of snow and in the summer if you arrive on a motorcycle just be aware that a lot of the gravel is loose on the hill so it might be a little squirrely getting down to the parking lot. I do plan on starting a Best of WV list and this will definitely make the cut.

Our Saturday was busy, he mowed most of the day and after errands I joined my 2 beautiful nieces from Charleston at the Ripley Pool!! We definitely had some fun in the sun!! Instead of cooking out, which was our original plan, we decided to go to the Fairplains Yacht Club and arrived about 6pm. We had to wait about 15 minutes, so I went to the bar and purchased him a Budweiser in a bottle. They were out of PBR due to strike at the Beverage delivering company! I had to purchase it there, due to fact they can't transfer to the table. Our waitress was Erin, she is so nice, sweet and attentive! Tony already had his bar beer, so I ordered a Half-Cut Tea w Lemon & Lime! Tony went with the Half Rack of Smoked Ribs with a Baked Potato w Butter & Sour Cream & Wilbur Beans *Baked Beans w Pulled Pork Bits Baked in it! (Very delicious )it also came with a roll... I ordered 6 Bone-In Smoked Wings w a side of Buffalo Ranch for dipping and also Blue Cheese for me and Ranch for Tony! We only had to wait about 20 minutes, so we chatted (which is hard due to noise level) and people hilarious The food was amazing!! Not a fan of Roll, its reheated in microwave so very hard and rubbery after about 6 minutes, they should be kept in warming oven or something...it was undesirable!! But hey, not judging whole meal on just that rubber ball !! The Ribs were amazing and a generous portion! I took a small section for myself and gave him 3 of my 6 wings. I also took a bite or 4 of his amazing Wilbur Beans...they are KILLER!! The Baked Potato was so delicious so I took about 1/3 of the potato and wish I had ordered my own, but my appetite is so crappy lately!! I hate to waste food and over order!! We are definitely going back! Highly recommend and if you are there on Saturday evening after 5pm...the Ribs are simply devine!!! Our check was $42 w taxes and all and left her 23% tip...it was a great relaxing dinner at the Yacht Club w cold beer and delicious food with OUTSTANDING Service from Erin!
