Nicely surprised by interior. Clean with comfortable spaces for eating and hanging out. Table games were available to grab and play in addition to the pool table, and also an outdoor seating area. This place was the best!!! Stopped in to eat during a road trip and wasn't expecting much based off the name and outside, but I'm so glad we tried it. My wife said she heard that The Local is a good place to eat and it has a pool table. I'm thinking it's just a bar with a few drunks. I decided to check it out on my own before I took my wife there. I was surprise when I walked in. It does have a bar, but also several tables. The barmaid/waitress said I could sit anywhere and she brought me a menu. I ordered 2 hotdogs with everything on it and Coke. The hotdogs were very good and the waitress was very pleasant. A family, with young children came in and they had their dinner there. I will definitely take my wife there next time. Maybe even play a little pool. :-) read more

I stopped at The Local for an early lunch while driving through Summersville. I travel for business and like to try the "local" flair...and I was not disappointed! The Local burger was wonderful... but as everyone else opines, the staff are amazing! As I was early, I was the only one there and Jordan and Bailey were fantastic! Stopped in on a whim, driving through with the kids. Bar atmosphere, but not smoky or loud. We started with the fried pickles and enjoyed them. We decided to give this place a try on our trip throughout the Mountain State and we were not disappointed. We started with the street corn. It's my understanding that it tasted great, because my wife ate the entire order faster than I could retrieve her purse from the car. As I sat there, hungry and obviously aggravated that she hadn't even saved me a scrap of the bacon used to wrap the corn, I began to look around the restaurant. The main section of the place has dining tables while the back, behind the bar has a couple of pool tables. I'm assuming this is for late night fun for the local crowd. As I sat and remembered how much fun life was before children sucked every ounce of energy out of my soul, our food arrived. I had ordered the WV burger. As I closed my eyes and bit down, the satisfaction was instant. The juicy, but not greasy burger seemed to melt in my mouth. The homemade kettle chips that accompanied the meal was amazing. I wish I could get them in bags to take home with me. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. I plan on returning if I ever drive through again without my wife so I can try the street corn. read more

Saw the menu posted at the Marina and decided to check out this place with our family of 4. We were pleasantly surprised with very friendly and efficient service and yummy, decently quality bar food. The vegetarian options were totally on point if that's your thing: we loved the house-made veggie burgers and veggie dogs. The chicken club and Mac-n-cheese burger were big hits with our teenagers as well. It has a definite bar-vibe, with pool tables, a stage, and a couple big TVs. read more

The wings have good flavor but always seem very dry and overdone. Side dishes leave a lot to be desired except for the fries-those are great!
