Speedometer for a 1996 VW Wolfsburg Jetta

I'll say this much about the operation, it's not a fancy facility but who cares if they get the job done and done right? So a full day after the work was repaired looks like everything is going great although this was an intermittent problem with my speedometer the only thing I can tell at this point is just how smooth the needle is moving Time will tell and I'll update if it goes south or if it goes north. I will say that Todd, Clayton, and Rose great operation there for a small run operation, but the repairs were definitely cheaper than replacing the entire speedometer.

In a God-forsaken industrial park in the hottest part of Santee, there is the Speedo Shop. Now I know that the first thing that comes to mind is a store full of tighty swimwear that European men like to look gross in. But this is a different kind of Speedo Shop. According to their web page, they are "a Speedometer and Tachometer Repair Shop based in Santee, CA. With over 15 years of experience in the field we have worked on Cars, Trucks, Motorhomes, Industrial, and Marine applications. We can recalibrate or repair almost any gauge you bring us, as well as install factory or aftermarket gauges in your vehicle. We have an in house dyno for the most accurate Speedometer Recalibration service possible." In other words The Speedo Shop can help fix just about any kind of gadget in your car that requires calibration. My son just bought a Mustang that had the RPM gauge busted and he took it here for repair. They did a quick job and were pleasant to deal with.. The reason I deducted 1 YELP STAR is because when we were trying to call them in the morning, the business was not answering their phone, even after they were open for business. Later, we tried again and they had managed to turn an answering machine on that takes messages.

One time I came at 7 PM and he immediately helped me and changed my oil. Today I had a flat tire, and Ramon fixed it himself quickly and with care. Also, Fred at the front who took my car information was very polite and helpful -- great customer service from the start. They are both great guys -- please take good care of them, encourage them, and give them the reward they deserve.

I waited nearly TWO HOURS for them to come back and tell me the tire was not repairable, that I needed a replacement. My car hadn't moved an inch in that time. They said they could order a new tire, I could make an appointment to get it changed. I agreed to do it, came back on Tuesday at 4:00 for said appointment. The tech said it would take about a 1.5 hours. I couldn't see adding on even more wait time, so I took the tire and left (took 1/2 hour total). Called Discount Tire, they said sure, they'd install the tire, bring it in. I did so, was told it would take less than an hour (they would see if I needed a new tire or if they could repair the old, then make the call). I went across the street to relax, was called within 25 minutes, job done! They had to replace the tire, said... No charge! Now, that's service!

One of the best decisions I made was taking my 1966 Mustang Coupe to Autoworks Restomod/Autoworks…read moreParts in Santee, CA. I've had my Mustang since 1997 so needless to say, I've been to a fair share of auto shops over the years. I was referred to Autoworks Restomod by another classic Mustang owner, and reached out to them through Instagram asking if they'd be able to help with the issues I was experiencing with my '66. My Mustang has quite a bit of aftermarket work done to it such as a 1989 5.0 EFI motor with an AOD transmission, power disc breaks, coil over suspension, custom wheels/axles, and a custom rear end, so it has been difficult to find a shop that could work on it. Even before ever stepping through the door, or meeting them in person, the level of service that I received from them was impressive. They were quick to respond, seemed genuinely engaged with my situation and the questions I was asking, and they were able to squeeze me into the shop despite the fact that they had a full garage of other classic Mustangs that they were working on. When I brought my '66 to Autoworks Restomod, it was barely drivable. I actually had to trailer it over to the shop because the rear ended had blown, and my car could barely drive above 30 miles per hour. From the start, the owner Matt, was personally involved with not only the initial meet and greet and diagnosing of the problem, but he actually was in contact with me throughout the entire time my mustang was in the shop. Thanks to Matt and his teams' thorough inspection and testing of my car, they were able to not only fix and replace the rear end, they also discovered a faulty break issue that could have been catastrophic if left unrepaired, and ended up troubleshooting and fixing an electrical/computer issue that I had been dealing with for over 10 years!! Words cannot express how happy I was the day Matt called me and told me that all of the issues that I brought the Mustang in for were fixed and it was ready to be picked up. I am so happy with not only the level of service I received but also for the quality of the work they did. All of the work was completed a few months back in 2021, and I have driven the car weekly and sometimes daily without any issues at all! This Mustang is my first car that I got when I was 16 years old, and I'm grateful to have it back on the road and running like it's brand new. Thank you so much Autoworks Team for all the work that you did!!!
