Sometimes you get someone who randomly rubs your face for 10 minutes. Occasionally they will walk away in the middle of your massage. Sometimes they come back. I love foot massages, so we decided to make this a birthday outing for a friend. I made an…read moreappointment for 4 people for foot massages in the afternoon. When we got there, there was ONE person, and as he got us set up another person came out. TWO people for four of us. That means instead of a 1-hour excursion, we were there for TWO HOURS. (This wasn't the main guy's fault, he frantically tried to contact the people who were supposed to be there, I guess the others are flaky.) The main guy was very nice, gave us water, got us seated in comfortable spots, although... we couldn't all sit together and chat, even though there are 4 chairs in the back room, he said it was crowded to work in. But then he was the only one working back there anyway. So I understand, but I don't understand. Once the woman finished up she did not help out with the remaining people. I don't know why. There were NO OTHER clients the whole time. Then when we were paying (cash, extra fee for credit card), they had the audacity to remind us to leave a tip also. I'm afraid we left much too generous a tip as we tried to finish up quickly to get to our next event. The massage itself was pleasant, although actually short. I would say maybe 30 minutes of actual foot massage. It was nice to have a little bit of time on shoulders but I was sad not to have longer on my feet. Also at the very end they have you move to sit facedown on a massage table for a kind of all-body massage, very short, kind of a nice idea... but the table did not have a real head thing, so you stick your face in a towel+pillow combo. Suffocation~! I was extremely disappointed. I suppose my only choice is to go back to Thailand or Taiwan to find decent foot massages.

Pedicure: Autumn knows how to engage with people in a way that puts you at ease. She creates such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The whole experience felt luxurious. On top of that- talk about talented! My nails are beautiful and after seeing some more of her work, I will definitely be coming back for a mani! Facial: McKenna is who did my facial and it was no joke the most relaxed I've ever been. I could tell she put thought and care into every detail of the experience. From the amazing smelling scrub down to the serums that left my skin glowing the next day - it was amazing. Massage: The massage is where I could truly tell that this is a medical spa, not just any spa. I have had neck pain for several years and have even started to get a slight hunchback. After one massage, there is a VISIBLE difference in my neck. I've gotten massages before and a lot of the time they hurt me more than help. That was not the case here. I highly recommend Yesenia if you're looking for an amazing massage therapist. The facility was clean, the atmosphere was warm, and everyone there was incredibly kind. It's a wonderful experience from the minute you walk through the door.

You can walk up from the resort through the pines or catch a short Land Rover ride, and by the time you arrive at what looks like a charming mountain cabin tucked into the trees, the unwinding has already started without you realizing it. Do not let the size fool you. The space is intimate but thoughtfully designed, with warm areas inside and out that invite you to slow down before your treatment even begins. You are handed tea and a complimentary foot soak while you wait, which is exactly the right way to ease someone into what comes next. We both booked massages, at separate times since couples appointments were not available on our visit, a scheduling reality rather than a limitation of the space and worth calling in advance to plan around. Both experiences were handled by different practitioners and both delivered. What stood out most was what did not happen: no unnecessary chit chat, no small talk filling the silence. Each therapist gathered the information they needed upfront to tailor the session and then simply let us rest. The products, the setting, the practitioners, and the unhurried pace all speak the same language. This is a spa that understands what people actually come for. Five stars. Call ahead, block as much time as you can, and let the pines do the rest.

But there were several things wrong that I'm just not used to. First, they massage over the blanket. Normally, the massage is skin to skin. Second, I wasn't asked to turn. Not once. I was on my belly the whole time. Third, the music was so low that I could hear my own breathing and the massage therapist's breathing; the room has a weird light to it, making the light yellowish and feels more like an old house. Lastly, I normally don't care about gender but why assign my husband a male? I think they should ask for preference like other places. All in all, they were quick to get us out to pay. They didn't offer any water or tea afterwards and before paying, we were asked if we wanted to schedule for a future date. Just feels like the opposite of what the experience usually is. I also didn't notice they were a chain. I would highly recommend getting massages at Basalt Day Spa in sugar house. It's the best.
