I rarely post Yelp reviews, but I couldn't stay silent about the wonderful experience I had here. I've been in the audiophile Hi-Fi headphone game for about 4 years now, and I'm angry at myself for only discovering The Source AV last week. I wish I had known about them sooner. I was looking to upgrade my headphones, but it was difficult to find places to try on headphones. My previous method was buying a bunch of different headphones online, trying them out, deciding on keeping one, and returning the rest. It was a hassle and extremely time consuming. I would check online and forums to where I could try on headphones All the suggestions were always so far from where I lived or didn't have what I was looking for. Then I discovered The Source AV in Torrance. I am telling you, whether you are an audiophile or not, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. It blew my mind just how much equipment they had for you to demo. And I'm not just talking headphones, they got all kinds of equipment. From DACs to amps to speakers to full blown home theaters; from humble equipment to ultra high end they got it all. They even buy used audio equipment. The staff is also very knowledgeable and not pushy at all. William gave me a tour of the store and gave me a demo of their McIntosh reference home theater. What an experience! Wayne helped me with my headphones needs and was also very helpful helping me make the right choice. The staff is extremely patient and they will let you try out everything for hours if you need it. Audio is a very personal and subjective thing. Everybody has different tastes and different ears. Also Hi-Fi audio is not cheap. It's a big investment, so finding the right product is important. Luckily the staff knows this and will take care of you. They want to find the right product for you, not just upsell. I came last week to do some testing and get a trade in value for my Audeze LCD-X headphones. They got back to me with a quote, so I stopped in today and picked up the Focal Clear MGs. It was a fantastic experience and I couldn't be happier. I will definitely be back for all my future home audio needs.

Every high-end Focal speakers on display including the new Sopra and the $$$$ Grande Utopia.

I was visiting a friend living in SoCal so I wanted check out some Hi-Fi shops during my stay. Credits to Yelp, I found The Source AV. Jason took time to show me around; asked about my system (McIntosh, Focal, Cary Audio) and made me feel welcomed. The store looked immaculate, everything was hooked up and ready to audition. I've been in this hobby since my teens so I've been to many Hi-Fi stores in the last 3 decades. Often times I walk away unimpressed by the products on display or worst, by the staff. Not in this case! During my 2+ hrs. stay I did not feel judged or sold to. I was treated with respect, like an old friend visiting. There were so much high-end products to see and audition I can easily spend a full day here. Lately I have moved to headphones listening so I was happy to learn that they are updating the store to include a "headphones bar". I did not buy anything on that visit, but my experience was so positive I will pick Jason's brain again when I'm in the position to buy. If this store was in my area (San Francisco), I would be in trouble. LOL.....

High five for HiFi Kitchen!…read more Located a block away from the Historic Filipinotown arch, this cozy spot is worth a stop. I finally had the chance to visit this brick-and-mortar after experiencing their food on two occasions. Once was at a catered event at SIPA, and another was at a pop-up at FPAC. During that catered event at SIPA, I had the Vegetarian HiFi Sisig which has tofu, eggplant, & shiitake, onions, peppers, and vegan mayo. I was obsessed with how good this was and was hoping there would be leftover for baon. But I also didn't want to be greedy...lol! Then at FPAC, they offered Veggie Sisig Tacos. Similar ingredients, except in a corn tortilla. Again, obsessed! https://yelp.to/b419aFUgE- Craving that yummy sisig, I walked into HiFI Kitchen's brick-and-mortar, eager to partake once again. Sadly, they were out of tofu. But the gal behind the counter was willing to modify by going extra on the veggies for my Vegetarian HiFi Sisig bowl. At first glance the portion size didn't quite meet my expectation of what I would consider a $17 veggie bowl that lacked tofu and nixed the egg, but it was surprisingly filling! And maraming masarap! https://yelp.to/tW6yKt2uDg Also masarap is the Pandan Horchata Latte. Yum! https://yelp.to/prcFhvC2jO Staff is very helpful. The decor embraces the hifi theme (high fidelity in this case) of old media such as using an audio tape case to store napkins and utensils, or having a VHS tape rewinder mounted on the wall. There's a single table indoors, bar-height counter for extra dining, and a few more tables out front. When I arrived, there was a family of 3 in there. By the time I sat down, three parties of 2 formed a line at the register. Popular spot! Street parking was fairly easy at 1pm on a Saturday. Would easily make a stop here anytime I'm in HiFi. Happy to support a small Filipino business :)

When it came time for the walkthrough, the technician failed to show up during our scheduled window. No call, no text, nothing. When I reached out myself, I was told he had known most of the day he wouldn't make it but no one bothered to let me know. I stayed home from work for the appointment. When I raised the issue and asked for a discount to continue, they chose to terminate the project entirely rather than take any accountability. Weeks of my time wasted. Stan Zeiden, their analog specialist, not only restored it but also restored my appreciation for the unparalleled experience of sitting and listening to a record. He was honest and caring, and he wanted the best for me and my family. Talking to him on the phone felt great - like an old-fashioned telephone conversation seldom experienced these days. He asked what kind of stereo system we have, what kind of music we listen to, and fixed our turntable accordingly, making recommendations for a good cartridge and stylus, and later sold me a brush to care for our records. He also conveyed instructions on how to care for our system long-term. What's more? He managed to get it done before Christmas! My father, an audio engineer, sat with me and listened to Blood Sweat and Tears - it was the best listening experience I'd had in a LONG time. We're quite happy and I have since been back for a great set of cables and a fuse for one of our ADS L810 speakers. All of the staff at Shelley's have taken great care of me. I would highly recommend Shelley's and Stan for any of your high-quality audiophile listening needs.
