Father and son duo! Best service, honest, friendly. Highly recommended for having smoke detectors serviced.

Didn't fix the problem with our smoke/ozone detector problem. About 10 weeks ago before we were to go on a long summer vacation in the Colorado high country we contacted this company to fix our smoke and ozone detectors. When we came home 2 ozone detectors were chirping and 2 smoke detectors chiming in. Ozone sectors are crazy loud at 95 db or so and smokers were somewhat quieter. 8 Other smoke detectors are working fine so this goes down as a mixed bag. No problem with the service but unfortunately vendor used some bad product I'm afraid... read more

If these 5-star reviews aren't enough to get you to call Dan I'm not sure what will! Like everyone else, Dan responded to my inquiry quickly and was able to get our 10 smoke detectors replaced very quickly. We decided to upgrade a couple to carbon monoxide/smoke detectors since we've never had them before. Dan took the time to give us tips for care and maintenance before leaving. He is great! read more

I think I'll be telling stories about Dan for the rest of my life. We are absolutely blown away but him and his level of customer service. Truly never had a more genuine human enter our home. A couple years back our alarms started going off in the home seemingly out of the blue and due to vaulted ceilings, we had the fire department come out. One of the crew referred us to call Dan, sharing that he was a former firefighter who started his own business working with detectors. Upon calling, Dan asked us to check how many detectors we had so he could replace them (they were originals with our house) and we foolishly counted 5. When Dan came out, he found a sneaky (not so sneaky) 6th detector, but replaced it for us FOR FREE! We were blown away. About a year and a half later, our alarms started unexpectedly going on again. We knew who to call. Dan advised us to get them all cleaned and put in new batteries. When he came out, he showed us how much dust and bugs had already been accumulated in them just in that short time. However, a couple days after his visit, the alarms began going off again. And then again with a different one! Dan offered to come out and replace the ones that had gone off in the hopes it would remedy the problem. However, shortly after... ANOTHER alarm went off. It was really starting to become a very stressful situation with two kids! Dan made mention that he thought it could be our humidifier emiting a white dust that could be affecting them. He called the manufacturer of the detectors who gave him a couple other possibilities but none of them seemed like they could be the culprit. Dan came back out to the house to change the remaining smoke detectors out. And then surprised us more than we could have ever anticipated. Dan bought us a new humidifier. A very high end one that did not emit the white dust. He told us to be his guinea pigs to see if it would remedy our situation. It's been a couple of weeks now and so far so good. Whether it be from the new detectors or from this incredible humidifier/air purifier, we are so grateful to have Dan. We are referring EVERYONE we know to Dan! Cannot say enough good things. He's a great family man who truly wants to be the best representative for his business. Thanks so much Dan! read more

Highly recommend the Smoke Detector Man ! Josh provided expert top quality service, at a fair and very reasonable price and he got all the work done right the first time ! Josh was punctual (arrived right on time as promised), polite and honest, he didn't try to "up sell" or overcharge us for work or parts, he also made sure everything was clean and in order before final inspections and completing the job, he is a true professional. Provided us peace of mind for our safety and protection that our home has newly installed, modern and integrated smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. We have lived in the valley 40 years and we had lots of service providers, the Smoke Detector Man is our smoke alarm and detector guy because we trust him. Thanks owner Dan and Josh for doing business the good old fashion way ! read more

GREAT company! We get the annual service to change out the batteries in all our smoke detectors, some of which are on high cathedral ceilings, so we don't have to deal with the beeping (and the ladder) when one goes out in the middle of the night. Great value! read more

Dan and one of his technicians were working at my neighbors house and I happened to have a broken smoke detector. After they finished up my neighbors house they came over and gave me a good assessment of what I needed along with a very reasonable price. The broken one needed to be replaced and they let me know I still had a few years of life left on my other two in the house. I decided to have them replace all three smoke detectors. They finished up in less than 30 minutes and did a great job educating me on how they work and upkeep. Dan and his employee were super professional, clean, and honest. I usually hate when people have to come into my house to work but these guys know what they are doing, have a true understanding for good customer service, and are pleasant to interact with. Thanks for the help Dan! read more

Dan & his son, Josh, both retired Firefighters, came to our house within one day after requesting services. Our Smoke Alarms were failing after 8 years and 3 of them began "chirping" every couple of days, usually in the middle of the night. We asked for Dan's help on 11/16/22 & an appointment was scheduled for the next day, 11/17/22. Dan & Josh arrived on time & installed 8 new alarms, explaining what they were doing as they installed the alarms. Dan gave tips on maintaining the alarms in good working condition & answered every question we asked. Both Dan & Josh were very professional, efficient and extremely friendly. They cleaned up the work areas before leaving & charged a very reasonable rate for their services. Both were two of the friendliest & easiest to work with contractors we have ever had in our home! read more

Dan did an awesome job at our house installing our smoke detectors! He was well versed in Tempe fire regulations and gave me input on the specific placement of the detectors to be most visibly appealing. I was initially concerned about the installation since we have 20 foot high ceilings-but Dan is incredibly competent and confident which put my mind at ease as he stood on top of crazy tall ladders! Thanks Dan! read more

Dan was super friendly, very knowledgeable, and helped us replace a number of 20yr old smoke detectors efficiently.

Dan's our hero! We had one older smoke alarm that was chirping and keeping us up all night. This one alarm was too high over the stairs for us to deal with. We called Dan mid-day and he was able to come by within a few hours and replaced it with a new detector in less time than it took us to find someone on Yelp... and a really nice guy! I highly recommend The Smoke Detector Man. Problem solved! read more

I was not able to use him as they do not refill fire extinguishers, but I am giving 5 stars because even though he couldn't help me, he still took the time to respond to my request AND referred me to someone who can. (Gave me a name and directions) He could've just not responded to my email at all since he couldn't help. I appreciate the referral and wanted to repay your kindness with a good review. We reached out to Dan to replace our smoke detectors. He made the process turnkey from beginning to end. We had an initial phone call to cover the basics and what to expect. He arrived on time and systematically replaced our units, as expected. He recorded a 5 min best practices video for our future reference to ensure smooth sailing for years to come. Well done, Dan! read more

From schedule through to onsite and even follow up, Dan was outstanding. He is knowledgeable, quick to respond, easy to communicate with, stuck to his commitment and timing for arrival, and did what it took to get the job done. The price was more than fair as well. He even followed up that evening after replacing my old smoke detectors just to make sure everything was working correctly. Dan's colleague, Josh, was equally as great. I would give these guys more than 5 stars if I could! read more

Our bedroom smoke alarm sounded off at 4:30 this morning and after blowing it out and replacing the battery it still was chirping and going off. I called the smoke detector man at 6am and left a message. He called me back and walked us thru how to disconnect it from ceiling. Turns out our detectors were 10 years old and we decided to replace them all. Dan came out this afternoon and replaced them and walked us thru the procedures. Great price and great owner I would definitely recommended Dan and his service. read more

Just throwing out a recommendation for Dan Reynolds, the smoke detector man. Our smoke detectors were doing funky things, and I know all of them were over 10 years old. I'm not good with heights and we have vaulted ceilings, so I heard about this guy and called him up yesterday. He came out this morning and changed out all 8 of our detectors, and ran through things to do to make sure everything works well with no problems, took his time talking so I was crystal clear on what to do when stuff happens. for example I asked him about those 10 year battery sealed smoke detectors, he said they work, but I could buy an energizer 9v lithium battery from amazon for about 7 bucks and next time I change batteries put the lithium one in, and that would do the same thing. all in all I was very satisfied with him and would recommend him. I hired Dan to install two wired Nest smoke detectors, and had a great experience with him. He arrived on time, was courteous and professional, and installed my new products in a quick but detail-oriented fashion. Because my old smoke detectors were a different size and shape than the new ones, a small strip of unpainted wall was visible after the new detectors were installed, as was a small gap in the wall behind one of the detectors. Dan patched up the wall and touched up my paint so that no one could tell, which was above and beyond what I was paying him for! Scheduling was easy and his prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend him. read more

My experience with Dan was the most pleasant experience I've ever had with any service provider.
