Very cool spot! Had the peach cider - so good, especially if you're GF. Great atmosphere and they had live music. Fun night!

Great atmosphere and location but the prices are STEEP. $35 for 2 margaritas of average quality.

I really wanted to like this place, especially since I try wings everywhere and was hoping to find…read morea new watering hole. Unfortunately, the wings were dry and tasted like day-old KFC wings, basically overcooked, dried out, and day-old. The chipotle chicken sandwich was also dry, and the ciabatta bun didn't help. It was dry as well. My hungry teenager didn't even want to finish it. On the positive side, the salads were fresh and nicely done. Fried mushrooms and cheese curds were pretty good and probably the highlight of the meal. Service was okay, nothing memorable. It was my husband's birthday, and that was barely acknowledged, which was disappointing.

Best way to describe? Better than OK. Service was good, very attentive. Food was good but just ok…read moredepending on what you ordered. Started with jalapeño poppers. Small but the Cajun spice in the breading gave them a good kick. Wife had trout with rice and vegetable medley which she enjoyed. Veggies were fresh and seasoned very well. I had full rack of ribs which comes pre sliced. Nice meaty, semi pull off the bone and a real Smokey flavor.,. A little too grizzly in the middle for my liking, but I enjoyed. We had a group of 6 and they divided check with no problem. A couple said it was ok but won't be back. One major problem was the bartenders not knowing recipes for their own cocktail recipes. Server came back twice asking questions about drinks off their own menu. They do not stock regular Jim Beam, only apple and peach flavor. We were told because non of their custom drinks has regular Beam. An old fashioned is $15 with Bullitt Bourbon, but was not made correctly.

Appalachia - Fried green tomatoes. Yum.

Top shelf cocktails and craft beers with a view, we met friends here for a few drinks before dinner…read morebeing we had previously made dinner reservations at a different restaurant. This is a very upscale restaurant and bar set high above Lake Lure, I was told the original structure was built in the 1940's so there's lots of history here and the owner's stick to the historic culture that may seem pretentious to some. There are no can or bottled beers, only crafted beers on tap, they are served in chilled glassware and are ice cold and delicious, the alcohol pours are very generous but are limited to the higher end brands no Jim Beam or Jack Daniel's here the lower end would be Buffalo Trace hey I'm not complaining just saying. Tonight our Bartender was Jenn friendly and a professional mixologist watching her work creating cocktails was pretty amazing. No one in our group had any complaints and probably would of stayed for a few more if time had allowed. The only challenge I experienced was getting here, the narrow drive is somewhat hidden and it was daylight when we arrived, I can't imagine after the sun sets behind the mountains. I did look at the menu and it's quite eclectic and it clearly states no substitutions so for my taste I may have struggled with some of the pairing. I'd definitely return...

All I can say is WOW. The food at Appalachia left me speechless! We arrived with a reservation, and…read moreour server was friendly and efficient. She offered the daily specials and made some excellent recommendations for our group. We ordered: -Little Gem "Wedge" Salad (pickled shallot, applewood slab bacon, herb oil, "everything bagel" crunchy stuff, confit tomato, house blue cheese dressing.) -Toasted Ciabatta for the Table (garlic confit, whipped butter, garden herbs, balsamic reduction) -Charcuterie (Chef's selection of two cured meats and two local cheeses, pepper jelly, mustard butter, grilled sourdough + accompaniments) -Chicken Liver & Black Truffle Pâté (cherry mostarda, cornichon, crostini, smoked Maldon salt, whole grain mustard) -Braised Beef Short Rib (grilled wild mushrooms, natural jus, orange gremolata, creamy couscous) -Gemelli (duck confit, toasted pecan, balsamic-brown butter, local apple, Calabrian chili-whipped ricotta, chive) -Steak Du Jour (Chef's daily preparation. charred broccolini, duck-fat fried fingerling potatoes, roasted garlic aioli) The standouts were the charcuterie and the braised beef short rib. The short rib was served over a couscous that was reminiscent of an alfredo, and all 6 of us fought over who got scrape the plate clean! All of the food was immensely flavorful and satisfying. Most of our party had dined at Appalachia before and noted that the quality was consistent. They had looked forward to coming back and said it exceeded their expectations; I agree! I look forward to returning.
