I think their patio is closed in winter, so keep that in mind, but they have indoor seating in the shop. I wish they were dog friendly but they are not (at least not inside). They have lots of different traditional Greek and Mediterranean food options on the menu. Portion sizes are also quite generous. The wine list was extensive, but if you're looking for by the glass it's a bit smaller. They do have a corkage fee for any bottles. The service was helpful as we asked about which wines by the glass might pair well with our snacks. This shop seems to function uniquely well as small and cozy bar and as a depot for dropping in to grab wine and accompaniments. We would come back again! read more

My husband and I were heading to the Comedy Club and stumbled across this gem. It at first looks like maybe a Greek store with groceries and wine. Then I spotted a small (but perfect) menu on the window. We risked it as we had only 30 minutes until our show started and opened the door. The smell of Greece instantly surrounded us and I knew we had to make it work! We sat at the small bar with a couple of locals who seem to call this place their second home. We ordered all of dour favorite Greek foods (my husband is Greek)... chicken souvlaki with tzatziki, red giant beans, and a gyro salad. Everything was fresh and ready within 10 minutes! The food is out of this World delicious. Absolute perfection. Giant beans are my favorite dish when visiting Greece and these didn't disappoint! They were served with pita and I enjoyed every bite. We were introduced to Nicos, the owner, and we're delighted by his hospitality. I wanted to go out and have some light fare for my sunday. I saw this place had lentil soup which sounded perfect for my afternoon. And perfect it was! The lentils were tender and cooked to perfection, and the whole dish had this nice umami flavor which was complimented by the light feta cheese they put on top. I mixed it with the tzatziki for extra tartness and creaminess. For dessert I tried their baklava. It was somewhat thick to spoon into my mouth but it was still very flaky and delicious, I just think it could have used less oil. I was also served a Smith Wodehouse porto with the baklava, which had this really nice fruity flavor to it. What a little gem of a place. While my partner enjoyed his pour, I ogled all of the delicious food emerging from the kitchen. They also have a great deli case filled with cheeses, olives, spreads and other goodness. I've lived in Capitol Hill for almost two years and I've never wandered into this little diamond in the rough until just the other day while in search for some spicy olive oil. They have wines, oils, and an amazing assortment of Greek goods, but more importantly they have a secret restaurant in the back that left us jumping for joy! We had literally just eaten dinner and had only planned on one extra beverage before we ended our evening but we jumped down the rabbit hole and couldn't stop! This place is just so good. The staff is so kind and gracious and interested in getting to know you ( not in an annoying way at all). The food is so good. I love the lamb gyro. It's different than other gyros I've had but so so good. The pita is fluffy and toasted and the flavors are so delicious. The spanikopita is also super good and the avglolemono soup rad. The sampler plate is also so good. I highly recommend it. It's real small and quaint inside so it won't work for a big party. Lots of other fun things too like wines and gourmet foods. Stopped in after a brunch at Smiths. There was an inviting sign on the sidewalk that offered a free wine tasting. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted with a welcome and an invite to taste wine. So we did! They had 6 wines that we tasted as we browsed the shop. Lots of ethnic foods, a cheese case and lots of of great choices of wine that you won't see at the grocery store. And best of all, they were very reasonably priced! We brought home a $12 bottle and can't wait to try it. There was also a small seating area in the back of the shop. Although we had just eaten, looking at the menu, it looks like sandwiches and cheese plates for the most part. We decided we definitely need to come back and have a try! read more

I had a Groupon so decided to pop into this place and see what I could find. I love Mediterranean/Italian anything, so it seemed I should have no difficulty spending my Groupon and more. The terms of the Groupon itself, however, were pretty limiting and that made it harder to shop than I would normally expect. I did, however, succeed in buying some delicious balsamic vinegar, some pretty tasty truffle butter, and a not-so-impressive piece of baklava (on the plus side, it was really big). The shop is cute and well-arranged, and it's a fun place to poke around and see what's available. I'm not much of a wine drinker but their selection seemed decent. There's a little bar/eating area in the back which I'd like to try sometime. The gal who rang me up was nice and handled the Groupon without any issues. I have been a frequent customer of Agora's Phinney Ridge location, and I was so excited about the opening of the 15th Ave shop. I was thrilled to be there for opening on Friday night. We were immediately met at the door with the smell of the delicious French Onion soup, an array of sample hummus, truffle popcorn and pita, and above all, a roomy, beautiful and cozy bar where we could take a load off and enjoy ourselves. Hannah and I each tried a couple of the red wines offered by the glass, and we each went home with a bottle of the St. George. I love the larger array of specialty cheeses and deli items at this store. I am also excited to have more freshly made food options. Even though I live across the street from the Phinney store, I have already started making dates with friends to meet up at the 15th Avenue location. Above all, what makes Agora special is the personal touch that Nikos and Alexis bring to the shop. So so disappointed in the Shop Agora. Recently - I picked up some soup, 10 pack of pita, za'tar, sumac and cookies - and the spices turned out to have gone bad, and pita had fungus. Boxed cookies were incredibly stale. The owner is friendly and on occasion I get a fancy bottle or olive oil or vinegar as a gift, but stay away form most other things. read more

After my first visit, I'm almost embarrassed to say I've been in back 4 or 5 times in a week. I'm a bad planner, the shelves here are full of delicious treats, and I only live 2 blocks away, so ... SHOPPIN'! The selection of pastas, pestos, cheeses, spices, etc. to take home and cook with are one thing, the selection of delicious bites at the bar are something else. They are warm, not pestery or fake, and the other night when I popped in to shop for dinner, Nikos (sp?) knocked my socks off. I noticed the cafe had pancetta-wrapped dates on the menu. Since they have a little deli case, I asked if they had pancetta for sale, as I was planning to pick some up at the QFC next door, but would much rather have bought it there. Nikos said, "We don't have any packaged for sale yet, but do you want me to see if the chef is willing to spare you a little? How much do you need?" 10 minutes later I was out the door with a little chunk of gold that turned my dinner into a little dream come true. I been to this shop twice and although it may look like a cute local shop the customer service has always been non existent. Without a flaw the moment I go in, I have no one helping me out although I clearly look like I'm indecisive about something, or debating btw bottles. Truth be told for that kind of customer service I would rather give my money to Whole Foods or even Trader Joe's.
