We recently visited this restaurant with our infant. While we were at our table, I began feeding our baby breast milk. Two different staff members approached us and aggressively told us we were not allowed to feed our baby inside. They instructed us to either stop feeding her or move outside, claiming that breast milk violated their kosher rules. Worse, they didn't approach us from a place of miss-understanding or trying to have a open, constructive conversation. They were pushy, rude, and immediately spoke down to us as though we had committed some grave offense for trying to feed our baby. We left feeling intimidated and entirely unwelcome. Management should be aware that under Washington State law (RCW 49.60.030), individuals have the protected civil right to breastfeed or feed breast milk in any place of public accommodation, and staff cannot legally ask patrons to stop or move outside. Furthermore, human breast milk is pareve and does not violate kosher dietary laws. We hope the restaurant takes this opportunity to educate its staff on state civil rights laws and correct religious guidelines to ensure no other family experiences this. read more

I expected a tart lemon slushy with a sprig of mint, but the fresh mint flavor really permeated this drink. Definitely not a throwaway ingredient. I got the falafel plate with some fries (cheeps). Looking at their online menu I see 10 other things I would have tried (I think online pics are better than what I saw that day), but this one is still probably the most balanced. It brings super fresh and crisp veg, tart pickles for a burst of flavor, hot crisp but moist falafel...eaten separately or stuffed in the pita, either way. I'd probably skip the fries next time and try something else new. Oh, and these falafel are a lot smaller than ones you get elsewhere, so don't think you can't eat 7 of them. I am late to this, I know, but I just discovered shakshuka this year in Thailand, of all places. But I fell in love with it. I also love hummus and falafel and all the things like that. I got the hummus basar (shawarma spiced ground beef topped with toasted pine nuts) and pita with 2 falafels, and my friend got the falafel pita. The hummus was beyond fresh and delicious, and the pita was doughy, thick, and fluffy to perfection. Truly no notes about taste. Once I'd finished the pita, I found myself wanting more of the hummus but no vessel to eat it with. I wish they had some veggies or something to dip in the hummus without having to consume more pita. But if my main complaint is that I wanted to eat more of it, I think that's a good problem to have. The falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, so good! Today I sat at the bar near closing on a Tuesday afternoon and watched as the chef prepared combinations of the namesake hummus, fresh falafel balls, fried eggplant slices, marinated boiled eggs, and spreads. A customer was cozily working in their journal with a cleaned bowl of hummus on the table behind me. My sabich (eggplant) pita sandwich, which pocketed a little of nearly everything into a pillowy pita and topped with a complimentary falafel, packed so much flavor. Pita was pillowy fluffy, hummus was smooth and well seasoned, falafel was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, very well seasoned. The eggplant was delicious as well, oily and rich. Service is minimal, order via QR code at the table. There is very limited seating so not good for large groups - mostly 4 person tables and a bar. Parking is a pain, it is Capitol Hill, and I would say the surrounding areas can be dicey, as Seattle is. Vibe is very casual. Maybe not the most baby/toddler friendly spot. As someone who lived in Israel and has eaten/made a lot of hummus from dried, soaked, boiled organic chickpeas (and saw the famed Abu Shukri in the Old City decades ago), both of us found the hummus unappealing. It was a thick paste that tasted predominately of salt. There was no taste of lemon or other ingredients, which can be added, such as garlic or cumin. We ordered $60 worth of food (a platter and hummus bowl - a little bit of everything) and I was hungry an hour later. I ordered online and went to get pickup; they were running a bit behind so I waited about 5 mins more than expected for my food. I thought the order was a bit expensive at $30 but the quality was worth it! I got the hummus mashausha since it sounded very unique. They only give one piece of pita for a HUGE bowl of hummus, definitely not enough. I recommend getting extra pita and also pouring the lemon sauce in from the start. I got a side order of shakshuka which was small, only a couple bites. I thought it was alright. My falafel sandwich had wonderfully crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside falafels with lots of tahina sauce and chopped pickles, cabbage, cucumbers and tomato. The ingredients were very fresh --- and the sandwich was very filling. I'm a big fan of falafel sandwiches and this one is first rate. My wife, daughter and son's sabich had humus, fried eggplant, boiled egg, chopped cabbage, onions, scallions, tomato, cucumber and parsley with tahina. They loved their sabich sandwiches.
