Good boutique hotel! The Shelley is smack dab in the middle of the Miami Beach strip and well within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, the beach, bars etc. my stay here was great. I really enjoyed the pantry they have available for guests. I was able to get some good tea at nights and in the am. Though the rooms are gigantic they had all the amenities I needed for a short stay. The beds were cozy and even thought my room was on the first floor, there was no noise issues. They held my luggage after checkout which was also a plus. read more

This is the worst hotel I have ever had to deal with. The manager is rude and uncaring of her guests. There is no parking for your car within miles over spring break periods and they will keep all your money even if you paid for several nights and will not refund a dime if you cannot stay there. The people at this hotel only care about your money not you and offer no service. There are so many other quality places to stay at in the area that are customer friendly, so BEWARE! read more

The best thing about this hotel is it's location in South Beach. We could walk to everything - beach, bars, clubs, restaurants, you name it! I would definitely stay here again, and the price was very reasonable. The hotel itself is clean, and staff were lovely. There's an outdoor seating area in the front where you can chill or eat a to go meal. We got a double room to share with another couple. Floor space is a little tight, especially if you have luggage, but definitely manageable. The beds were comfortable and AC worked well. The bathroom was a good size but the sink is really small and there wasn't a lot of shelf space to put toiletries. Shower was great. Breakfast is included - deli meats, some pastries and cheese. Good coffee. There is a fridge with water and you can also store stuff in it. Beach towels are provided. Will be back! read more

DO NOT BOOK a reservation at this hotel. I made a reservation and showed up 5 hours after making the reservation only to find out that this hotel HAS NO PARKING!!! It was a busy time and the city of Miami Beach had closed all the parking ramps and closed the street parking and the hotel knew this over a month before but never advised me of that fact. They refused to give me any type of refund for my 2 night stay even though their no-show policy was only a one night charge. Just like the other yelp reviews like this, this hotel keeps your money and also rebooks the room and gets paid two times for the same room!! What a scam!!!!! The manager Gabby does not return phone calls or emails. It took me 3 months 6 phone messages and 5 emails in order to get back a response of "we don't care, we are not refunding your money no matter what". I was supposed to stay here for one night, and was well aware of their 3pm cancellation policy. Due to a completely crazy series of events involving a flat tire on the way to the airport and a missed flight we had to no show. It was my first trip in months because, well, pandemic, and the whole day was just terrible. We explained all this to the Shepley and they absolutely would not make an exception and refund us - the front desk lady I talked to was honestly outright rude to me and it was just the cherry on top of an obviously terrible day. I understand there are policies, but good customer service involves having understanding and sympathy - in this situation we received none. I travel to destinations like Miami often, and I cannot say that I will ever consider this hotel again. read more

The rooms do not resemble the pictures shown online and the rate is overpriced. Very old and dated! The hotel staff Gus is inappropriate and does not respect women. The noise in the hotel carries and sounds like you are in a college dorm(I asked for a quiet room). After complaining to Expedia my intention was to drop the matter and enjoy the rest of my stay but when I arrived to the hotel after stroll i was approached by Gus the hotel staff with hostility in front of other hotel guest for complaining to Expedia. Unfortunately, this was my experience but In the end its my fault because i selected the hotel. Don't be fooled by the reviews from 5-7 years ago. I missed that small detail!! I noticed the manager's defensive response to my review. Instead of Just apologizing for the mistreatment from the hotel staff i.e. Gus and Jerry she deflects the matter with "we don't deceive our guest". Wow! A genuine apology Considering you are a woman and should know by now what happened during my stay. Pictures are not fake, Veronica. And neither is your hotel staff. I wish your hotel staff would have acted accordingly but it seemed like I was being discriminated against for being a woman of color. Ask Jerry - he said in Spanish "that woman is going to give us problems during her stay". He didn't know I am latino and understood what he said: I was kicked off the patio by him as well without being asked if I was a guest at the hotel. Gus is another story and I am not the only person who has complained to you. He has been with the hotel for over 16 years and nothing has been done about his bad behavior. I'm sorry that a few bad seeds ruin it for all but everyone that is considering booking with you should read my review before booking. This is real Veronica! Check your hotel staff and room. Recently visited Miami South Beach and found this little gem on Expedia when booking hotels. The reviews are what sold me and I am glad i listed to them because this hotel was amazing. Small hotel but very friendly and hospitable. The front manager, Jorge was so great with my group and myself. I would ask him for places to visit and every spot he recommended was great. The rooms are small but you feel very comfortable in them. Bathroom is spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The front porch is a nice touch as my group and I sat down one evening, ate and drank outside with music. Very close to the beach and to many other spots that are worth visiting. One issue, one that will not take away any stars from the review, is the night staff, a younger guy who looks like he has scars on his face or had pimples growing up and now they are scars, or had acid thrown on his face. I had my group and we were a bit loud for it being 12 am, but the way he came to knock on the door and start to scold my group and I for being loud was a bit much. Not once did we get a courtesy call prior asking us to be more quiet. If we had a call prior we would have complied. He even brought the guest that complained to our door, which seemed very unprofessional. Definitely the only negative of this otherwise fabulous stay. The older gentleman during the evening was super nice as well. If I return to Miami I will definitely look up this spot. Thanks Shepley for a great time! read more

I am shockingly disappointed at this hotel, which possibly had the potential to be a good stay, but the front desk worker named Gus made it impossible. First of all, I had a service dog which by law he cannot reject. He asked me to show the paperwork and I have no problem doing so, I was just saying that by law he is not allowed to and just so that he knows for the future. His reacted was: "BE HAPPY THAT I ACCEPT YOUR DOG", in a very rude and aggressive way. On top of that, he continued being rude and literally said: "I SUGGEST YOU GOING TO YOUR ROOM", in a threatening and aggressive way. The audacity of anyone talking this way is just beyond shocking. I called the cops and they dealt with the situation. I left without staying there since I didn't feel safe at all. Customer service is not a thing there, don't expect to be treated like a human at all. There will be NO help in case of any problem you'll encounter (also see other negative reviews about NO customer's service). I would highly recommend to choose another place! read more

This boutique hotel is in the heart of south beach. Located just a stones throw from the beach. The lobby and rooms are decorated nicely. The room we had was tiny. We did experience a few negatives in our bathroom. Firstly The sink was partially clogged, the sinks hit water also didn't work great, and the shower head wasn't secured to the wall very well. We had to park in a parking garage across the street. We were only there one night but the beds were good. Overall I would grade a 7/10 but if bathroom was fixed then a solid 9/10. I want to thank every reviewer on Yelp for selling me on staying at this hotel, because they could have not been any more accurate on how professional, welcoming, and pristine of a hotel that this place is. I truly enjoyed everything about staying here - the clean, modern rooms, the continential breakfast, and the friendly staff. The hotel is centrally located to shops / restaurants and only a block from the beach; they will provide you with towels and chairs if asked. The rooms were comfy and spacious, especially the bathroom (the lack of a door on the shower mentally threw me off though, but didn't make any mess)! The breakfast was small, but had all the staples - cereal, toast, fruit, and lunchmeat to make sandwiches. The staff was attentive and welcoming, willing to help with anything. I'm pretty adventurous and like to try out new things, but I honestly can't think of staying at another hotel other than the Shepley when I visit Miami again. read more

Great experience. Considering most (affordable) hotel stays in Miami leave MUCH to be desired, the Shepley was great. Super cute decor both in the lobby, kitchen, hallways AND in the room, and awesome (save one overnight desk guy who was so undesirable I was almost prepared to knock off a full 2 stars) staff. I would not consider this hotel to be one of the cheaper options, but I wouldn't put it on the super expensive side either ($215/night). The rooms are quaint; full size- but comfortable- beds. The space is used efficiently. Having visited SOBE tons of times, my expectations and standards were pretty low. I was pleasantly surprised. Diego, one of the attendants, was the highlight of our stay. He was always smiling, was very helpful, and kind. Oh- and there's a free breakfast! Bagels, donuts, cereal, juice kind of breakfast, but it was good and served its purpose. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

The rooms do not resemble what is online and reeked of mold smell. We were locked out of the hotel for a few minutes at around 3:30am. At this point, we wanted a manager. We were told one would be in at 8:00am. At 8:0am we were told 2:00pm, at 2:00 we were told his mother is in the hospital and will not be in? Very coincidental. Also, the reason we were locked out. We are being told is due to the fact that the employee was "in the bathroom" however, he walked up from the opposite direction & looked as if he was under the influence or either was asleep. Someone finally responded to an email stating that we will not get a refund because we expressed concern about our stay on site at the initial smell of mildew. I don't see how the $755 dollars we paid is not being refunded when we did NOT STAY. We checked out.. and are not being refined. read more

I booked the shepley when I found it on trip advisor and saw that it received some solid reviews for its location, service and character. I booked this hotel three months before checking in and I'm so glad that I did. It has delivered on al fronts. The location couldn't be better!!! It is in the middle of south beach and everything is walking distance! You have a Walgreens a minute away and have the beach and the hustle and bustle of ocean drive right down the block. The service was awesome from the moment we stepped off our Lyft when we checked in from the greeting at the front desk every time we came in. Juan the bell guy was extremely friendly and made me and my friends feel very welcomed!The character of the hotel is charming, inviting, cozy, and classy. I felt as Though I was transported back to a wealthy beach club in the 1920's with all the wonderful decor. The ambiance and the feel of the hotel is classy and done in very good taste! The price is middle of the road... but you get what you pay for. I would definitely consider booking this place again the next time I'm in south beach. I recently stayed at your hotel. I wanted to give great feed back to Jorge! He was very professional, welcoming, and accomedating. I just wanted to personally thank you for your hospitality. One of the few things that stuck out from Jorge, was that he stated he was there to make sure my party was here to have a good time. The doorman and bellman was fantastic as well. I'm an honest person, so the only person I felt that wasn't welcoming was the other front desk agent Martin. He was very rude during check in. He was judge mental and stated to my party of 13, that there cannot be any huge party's or loudness because there are families staying at the hotel, which was very uncalled for and not professional. Myself works in the hotel industry knows he needs to brush up on his hospitality skills if he plans on staying in the hospitality field, and dealing with all walks of life. It was amazing here! The manager and staff were very nice and helpful. They helped us book travel, check prices and generally helped to answer all of our questions. Can also add that I did not have to open the door myself in 14 days haha! The room and the other space were very clean, as well as the breakfast was simple but good. Location was perfect with 3 min walking distance to the beach and 10 min to Lincoln road. I definitely recommend this hotel, and will most definitely visit it again next time I'm in Miami Beach. With all the positive reviews I was surprised by our experience. Sound travels in this hotel from the room above and through the walls from other rooms. Our room door rattled when other rooms opened and closed their doors. The bathroom was oddly designed. There were no towel racks and it was hard to sit on the toilet correctly due to the toilet paper holder sticking out, I am not a large person. The hotel had loud guests partying in the hallways late into the evening. Our room was clean, the beds comfortable, great location, and all the staff were pleasant. read more

Upon arrival to the Shepley Hotel, I was very disappointed. The hotel appeared to be very ran down and old. The rooms were nothing like they were pictured online. We walked into a room that reeked of mold. The room and the bathroom were insanely small, there was absolutely no space to open our luggage or to even get ready. I felt as though I could not breathe, the room was so stuffy and humid! On top of everything wrong aesthetically, the service was just horrendous. The Shepley staff did nothing in their power to make my stay enjoyable. I arrived back to the hotel one night to be locked out and the staff proceeded to tell me "it's not like you were waiting for that long". It appeared to me that he was under the influence or had been sleeping. Just unacceptable! I would not recommend staying here. read more

This hotel was a fantastic experience. They are the nicest employees I have had the pleasure of encountering, and they will constantly go the extra mile. The room is very well decorated and the beds and pillows gave me the best nights' sleep I've had in days. Not only that, but the shampoo and soaps provides were top notch. They provide a great outdoor space to have a nap or enjoy having a drink while in either the shade or sun. The beach is a block away and they provide towels and suggestions of places to visit. This was a very nice hotel. it was the only one available last minute when we were looking. I wish the rooms were a little bigger. It looks like an old hotel that the owners put a lot of money into remodeling. The beach is just a block away. Hotel parking is not available so you have to find street parking or parking in the garage across the street. Our stay included complimentary breakfast (croissants, juice etc.). Me and my buddy stayed here on the last night of our vacation. I don't really have any complaints, the parking garage across the street was only 20 bucks, the staff was friendly and accommodating, room/bathroom were very clean, and the beds were real comfortable. However, I have to take away one star strictly for the VERY overpowering scents in the air! I'm not sure if it was air freshener, potpourri, or what? But it kind of seemed like a combination of both, and I guess this may not be an issue for some, but being a sufferer of bad allergies and asthma, this really had me struggling throughout the night, sneezing and using my inhaler a lot. You can notice it immediately when you walk inside (it wasn't as bad in the room) if I could go back I probably would have had us cancel, but my friend had made reservations ahead of time, and our room was already set up. Anyway, I'm just giving a little heads up here, for the people who are very sensitive like me. read more

This is one of the best value hotels in all of South Beach. I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in, the lobby, although small, was very quaint and very comfortable. The desk clerk was just fantastic, excellent service, no rush checking in, and very accommodating. The place was extremely clean, and the seemingly recent renovation included upscale furnishings and bedding. As well, the room we had had a huge bathroom which was very comfortable.The location is right across the street from a municipal parking lot so parking is easy, and everything is within walking distance or a quick Uber ride.
