Definitely not because if you find yourself in the sweet little town of Granville, NY, you're in for a treat: Mickey and Wayne have put their heart and soul into renovating the old Granville train station into a stunning bed and breakfast, the Station House B&B. When we arrived late in the evening to check in, Mickey was there to greet us and make us feel at home. And her kindness and grace poured over into every detail: from the historic photos, to the antique tables and chairs, to the timely holiday decorations, to the abundance of mugs and tea, which were always available. For which I say thank you! Because we were traveling in a party of 8, we occupied 4 of the 5 rooms, which was fantastic because that afforded us the opportunity to glimpse each cozy space. Three of the rooms have their own bathroom, but two have a shared bathroom. For us, it was no problem since we were all family. This one minor detail is something to consider when selecting your room. Each space is unique, from the name to the decor. Every detail is thoughtfully selected and creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you're coming home each night. Although the walls were a bit thin in our room, the Ticket Office, James F and I slept like rocks, we were so comfy! But it doesn't end there. Gotta get to the breakfast part, of course! Coffee was always ready at 7AM and breakfast at 8AM each morning. Well, oftentimes breakfast was waiting for us well past 8AM because some of our group are late risers. And my god, the breakfast spread presented each morning was fantastic: tea, coffee, orange juice, pancakes, french toast, bacon, ham, pastries, yogurt, pudding, it goes on! Basically, everything to keep our bellies happy and ready for the long days ahead. Truly, what hospitality! To Mickey and Wayne: thank you for creating such a friendly and beautiful B&B! As I sit and type this back in Denver, I'm longing for that wonderful breakfast spread! It was truly a pleasure to stay at the Station House B&B.

However, here at Four Chimneys Inn, we loved it so much, we asked if we could stay another night, and they said YES ! Our first night was spent in a red and yellow decorated room, which was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were super comfy ! It was room #11 and on the first floor. Our second night was spent next door in #10, and those colors were creams, blues and muted gray. For some reason, my camera picked up mostly the gray and left very little color to view, which is weird, because there was a lot of blue, which I actually preferred to the red and yellow room. The room was perhaps a bit smaller, but it was still VERY spacious and more than enough room for the 2 of us. Again, the bed and pillows were super comfy. I think I liked this second room more, if nothing else, than because of the colors. Blues, grays and creams just spoke to me more than reds and yellows. I felt more at home, I guess. Both rooms had fireplaces, but in disgusting 90+ degree heat/humidity, no thank you. On the first night of our stay, the inn's restaurant was closed, but when we unexpectedly extended our stay by one night, that also opened the possibility of dining in-house, which thrilled our tired bodies like you wouldn't believe. We didn't feel like doing anymore driving, so we stayed put and ended up having an elegant dinner at Four Chimneys Inn. Breakfast the next morning was included with the price of each night's stay, but we only availed ourselves to breakfast after our second night's stay. (See separate review for the restaurant.) The inn staff was incredibly kind and friendly, not to mention, helpful. If ever we get to return to Bennington, Vermont, there is NO DOUBT that we'd find our way back to staying at the Four Chimneys Inn. They have done away with the two-course breakfast the inn is known for and replaced it with a continental breakfast that is a poorer offering than what you will get from Hampton Inn. There is now fruit, yogurt, granola, stale pastries, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee/tea only. The communication refers to the continental breakfast as an "enhancement" when in fact it is a replacement. They are not honoring what you have booked, offering only $15 per day in return. Our breakfast out, while delicious, cost $60. The new management should have been transparent in their communication, honored what guests had booked for at least 90 days after takeover, and given notice to folks here that have booked so they could have an opportunity to make a change, if desired. When I asked for a real solution, the new manager stated only that I was "talking in circles" making me into the problem instead of taking real accountability for the misinformation they've delivered to customers. I haven't gotten away with my husband since 2021. This has left a negative stain on our getaway.
