Every room had a different theme. All rooms were very clean and furnished according to the theme. There was a good sized kitchen and enough cutlery and dishes to serve everyone. The dining room was large enough for at least 12 people with additional seating in the dining room and the kitchen. The living room was large and comfortable for everyone to visit. There's also a baby grand piano off of the dining room near the staircase. There is a covered porch which surrounds the inn on three sides with enough seating for all the guests. All of my family members were appreciative of the inn and the fact that they got to visit with each other for the entire weekend. I can't say enough good things about the Glens Falls Inn.

The Inn itself is beautifully restored by its new owners who are clearly experienced in Bed and Breakfast management. The rooms are clean but simple details in decoration make it unique. Two of the rooms have gas fireplaces, we enjoyed the ease and beauty of them in our room. The lines, pillows and towels were definitely a step above what you find staying in a hotel. Appreciated the individual controls in each room for comfort. A nice touch was the small fridge in the closet. It didn't take away from the ambiance of the room but added a feature many Bed and Breakfasts don't have. Breakfast was awesome! Coffee and tea are available at any hour. Fresh coffee is out at 7:30 and breakfast served from 8:30-10. I truly enjoyed tea from a beautiful tea cup and saucer. Nancy and Bill served fresh fruit, I was impressed with the variety they offered for April. The scones, maple one day we stayed lavender the next were cooked to perfection. There were a variety of choices breakfast. The first morning both of us went with the apple crepe with caramel sauce and fresh whip cream.... yummy! I strongly suggest adding the side of Oscars sausage! The second day I went with the poached egg on an english muffin with the sausage. Cooked to perfection. A great getaway for seeing the area but as someone who lived ten minutes away it was a great opportunity for a staycation. Nancy made some great suggestions for activities based on the guests and their specific interests. Nancy and Bill made some great dinner suggestions and even took care of reservations for guests.

Every detail was exquisitely executed from the gardens to the food. It was so memorable that we decided to come back for our 26th anniversary this year. We booked a weekend and noticed the weekend before that the ownership had changed. We had high expectations and Linda and Genes shoes were big ones to fill. Understanding this we expected there would be adjustments. Soon arriving we noticed the gardens had been completely overgrown with weeds and unkept. Proceeding to the porch we noticed the house siding and windows were filthy and cobs webs were plenty. The porch was dingy worn and in need of repair. As we entered we noticed they had created a more modern space with a wine bar which, we were told, will soon will be opened to the public with new large leather furniture which dominated the living room. The renovation albums that Linda meticulously created have been replaced with motorcycle magazines. We noticed all the draperies had all been removed and a dank quiet hung over the room. The fairytale charm was gone. Tamara greeted us and explained the changes and explained to us she would be making us breakfast and asked us to pick a time slot and check the boxes from a menu selection she provided . After she showed us to our room (Victoria room) where we stayed the first time. We noticed wall decors had been removed and the magic was gone. We nervously discussed how breakfast would perhaps be changed. I had dreams about returning to the Lamplight Inn for Linda's delicious chocolate cappacino muffins and only hoped that they would be available in the morning. To our surprise around 7:30am I heard music and the bustling of servers preparing our breakfast and the waft of Genes home fries. Breakfast was delicious and well prepared. Servers were gracious and on cue. Just as we remembered. There were a few changes but definitely a wonderful breakfast minus the personal Linda touches we had loved. If your returning here from a lovely enchanted stay from days gone by you will be sadly disappointed. We feel the website should be updated to allow customers to understand the changes or at least an email at booking. The magic is gone and we can only thank Gene and Linda for creating a beautiful memory for us when we stayed 26 years ago. Sadly we will not be returning as we do not like the direction the new owner are taking it. We feel a wine bar opened to the public would be loud and intrusive to the guests and the lack of upkeep to grounds is terribly sad.

Let's start off with the room above the kitchen: - The kitchen door has 100% access to our room. If they had employed a pervert that worked in the kitchen and didn't know it, the customer would be in serious trouble! All of our belongings were up there and accessible to anyone who opened the kitchen's back door. - During dinner hours I heard all the orders being shouted and which customer they didn't like. - I could hear the kitchen staff cleaning the dirty dishes/pots/pans - During the middle of the night we heard a door slamming shut...didn't know if it was the kitchen door that lead to our room or if it was just another door that echoed. It was very unsettling. I shot up in bed expecting a greasy man climbing the stairs with a kitchen knife... but that never happened...thank goodness! The bathroom: - I know toilet paper is expensive, but to supply a spit through 50 cent roll was just mean. - One roll was supplied...could have been nice to have at least 2 incase of an emergency. The room: - There was a t.v. with cable, air conditioning that was loud as heck and rattling, a small refrigerator and a microwave...oh yes, there were forks, knives and spoons. - No plates or bowls, but there were forks with food stuck on them, spoons with splashes of oil, and knives that were ok. The couch: - There was a love seat in front of the t.v. with a cover on it. They didn't wash it because there was dog/cat hair in the crevices. Eww. Would I go back: If there was seriously no other place to go then yes, but I would bring my own toilet paper, ear plugs and a gun.

I just don't like the lack of privacy or the set time to eat or the forced conversation. When I'm traveling I prefer to chill. But this B&B has several things that set is apart and make me like it- a very casual atmosphere- a pretty location- a wonderful proprietor and policies that are different than most B&Bs. First off- there is no set time for breakfast. You can wander down when you like. Second- the lady who runs the place has come up with a brilliant plan- she sets a steaming hot pot of coffee outside your door in the morning so that you can drink your coffee in peace (and privately) before venturing down to the main room. So simple but I've never seen another B&B do that. There really isn't much in Salem NY so you'll only stop here if you happen to be in the area. But if you do and you have B&B phobia as I do you can safely book here. I just remembered the name of the lady who runs it- Laura. She's really nice.

I searched for almost 3 weeks for a place that allowed dogs near Lake George and honestly could not find much which was surprising. I found a few places that allowed dogs but they had so many rules and regulations if wasn't worth the hassle. Then I finally found Hide-A-Way! From the moment I called them to make a reservation it was so easy and everyone I dealt with was SO helpful and friendly. I booked the reservation with Pete. He was amazing. Made the process so simple. I put down a $100 dollar deposit and they give you the option to either pay the remaining balance when you check in or send a check. We decided to just pay the rest when we got there. My friends and I rented the SummerHaven cottage for one night. It was $283 for one night during "off season." That price includes the pet fee as well. (The pet fee is $25 per pet, per night). We had 2 dogs that stayed with us. Honestly, it's not a bad price and it was SO WORTH IT. We checked in with Kelly and she was a doll and sooo easy to get along with! The SummerHaven cottage is SO NICE. When you walk in there is a cute living room with a tv, pull out sofa bed and rocking chair. If you go to the left there's a small room with a bunk bed. The bathroom is huge. There's a full kitchen with a big refrigerator, stove, microwave, Keurig, and dishes. The master bedroom is in the very back of the cottage with a HUGE king size bed and huge windows overlooking the road + lake. When we arrived me grabbed the kayaks (which you have unlimited use of with no extra charge) and headed out on the lake! The lake is a decent size and is pretty clean. We had a blast. After hanging out on the lake all day we went to the pavilion and played ping pong and volleyball!! They also have a jungle gym on the property for young kids. At night we had a huge bonfire (the SummerHaven cottage includes your own personal grill, bonfire pit, outdoor patio set with chairs, and a picnic table). You can also purchase firewood up at the office!! All in all, my friends and I will be making a few more trips up here this summer! We're going to do an annual camping trip here from now on. Basically "chic" just means everything painted black. Not disgusting, per se, but all of the in season amenities were certainly not present. Instagram and Facebook haven't been updated since 2023. My inner skeptic can't help but wonder what other ghosts we aren't seeing. Next time we'll stay in town for a more walkable and predictable experience.
