Infused alcohol= awesome. Friendly staff = super awesome Cool space- lots of room to stand or sit. Amazingly powerful sound system. That room is a terrible sounding room. Either that or the sound engineer had the Audio WAAAAAY too loud. I see concerts basically for a living- and there was no reason to have SYML at that volume. My ears were being blown out. I had earplugs in and it was still too loud and it honestly ruined the show. I read reviews about the sound being bad at this venue and honestly I would agree. Get more sound baffles and pull that master fader down a bit. Ok... a little bit more..... little bit more... ok that's good. read more

Excellent music venue in Bellingham. They've got a really good sound system (regardless of how well the sound tech is using it), good drink selection including fancypants flavored vodkas & jello shots, a 2nd floor balcony area in the back, and a pinball arcade next door owned by the same people. They book regional & national tours plus local bands. I have only seen rock shows at the Shakedown--not sure if other music genres are booked there. I hear they make a kickass philly sammich for lunch---looking fwd to try the food sometime but this five star review is for the music venue. read more

I like their food options, tasty and different. I'm not a drinker so I can't comment on that. We used to go for karaoke. Waitstaff is pretty good. I give it a low rating bc I'm a non Smoker and cigarette smoke actually triggers migraines for me. They have an outside seating area for the smokers but they often open up the garage type door behind the stage facing the street. That then places the smokers directly behind the stage smoking into the building. Which is in direct violation of WA state laws. That's the main reason we stopped going. read more

Great food, good service. This would be a five star review if it were for failing at the one thing it should be good at...making bands sound good. This place has a great sound system, yet the engineer who worked the 10ft Pole show last night was nothing short of embarrassing. There was CONSTANT feedback at the 10ft Pole show last night and there was no energy. It sounded like rocking out in a garage when it should have thumped like a real venue sound system should. Disappointed by the engineer's lack of giving a shit. Amazing staff aside from that. read more

Awesome bar in downtown Bellingham. Rad shows, good drinks (try the Arnold f'n Palmer), and all the rainier tall cans you can drink.

The sound was really poor quality at the Bongzilla show. Way too loud of vocals. I'm putting this one on the mentally ill WWU president driving all the sanity out of town. The only things saving this from a 1 star are the tater tots (good eats for mid show snack) and pin ball options. read more

They have really good tater tots but since I'm not 21 I can't go in there and order them myself so I always have someone else order them for me. They won't let you order food at the window they have so I stepped in one day and asked if I could just order some tater tots and have them delivered next door and they said I needed ID and rudely yelled at me to leave. I understand the bar laws and all that but I wasn't near the counter and had just stepped in the door to order food. Good food nonetheless though. read more

Came here for Yuri's night Bellingham and to experience the PNW underground music scene. Parking is certainly easy and drinks are cheap and good. The venue is set up for live music so sound check lighting check as well hooray! read more

Came for karaoke, left early because of the lungfuls of cigarette smoke we were forced to breathe in. People shouldn't be clustered around the front door smoking, it's against the law and totally uncool. Going to bed with a headache and chest pains. I used to never be able to go out to bars until they passed the laws that protected us non-smokers, but tonight brought back painful memories. Sorry, we won't be back. Great music venue and great food. The Shakedown recently revamped their menu. They narrowed their focus to Philly cheese steaks and falafel sandwiches. I can't speak for the cheese steaks because I don't eat beef, but the falafel is downright respectable. For $5-$7 bucks you get a pita stuffed full of fully seasoned falafel and a generous application of tahini and veggies. For $1.50 more, you'll be enjoying a huge side of steak fries. The falafel is filling enough, though, so the fries are an indulgence for only the hungriest among you. And you can get them on Sunday when it's happy hour all day. Can't wait for the patio to open so I can eat one outside. read more

The Shakedown is the best bar in Bellingham. On any given night you can stop in and see fantastic live music- you'll find amazing local bands and national headliners gracing the stage. While having your mind blown by the awesome Rock and Roll (or Bluegrass, or Metal, or Hip Hop, etc.), make sure and stuff your face with the best fried food around- the tater tots are...impossibly delicious. I effing love the cider they have on tap, and at $4 a pop you can toss back a few well drinks without breaking the bank. 90's night is a super fun dance party, and Tom Waits Mondays are like medicine for the soul. My favorite day of all is the lovingly dubbed Bellingfamily Sunday. This place has done it right. read more

This is my favorite venue when it comes to music. You can see great rock n roll from all over the world. Karaoke is top notch here on Tuesday nights. The food is excellent here. I suggest the lamb falafel. Ask the bartender Zach what drink would go well with your karaoke song and costume and he will most likely know exactly the right concoction. He is like Woody from Cheers except smarter faster and better looking. read more

I love their pinball machines. The owner is very cool, and you can catch her working in her own bar. The bartenders are nice, friendly and charming. They have house infused boozes! Outdoor smoking patio, great location, and an excellent lineup for music and other nightlife! There's a whole bar/seating area upstairs that is much more private, if you'd like to chat it up alone! Happy hour is a great time to check the placd out! They serve late, later than most of the bars in this town and youre guaranteed to run Into friends, or make a few. read more

Not sure if this place is actually decent if you go in but ordering for delivery was a major disappointment. Ordered two classic cheesesteaks and the cheesy bacon tots... First of all the cheesesteaks had hardly any meat or steak on them... for almost $11 a pop that's outrageous!! The cheesy bacon tots were almost $9 bucks and were frozen tots, very little cheese and hardly any bacon. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not worth the money at all. read more

Best new bar in Bellingham! Mostly a live music venue with local and regional bands, but also a great place to dance on Thursday nights. The same 80s Night that was at the Nightlight lounge moved up the street to here and it is still a blast. They have a great menu that is a step above most bar food. Where else can you get a deep fried PB+J sandwich?!? The curry fries are good too. Drinks are fairly priced and they have some cool specials, too. They also take credit cards! It seems like not many placed in Bham take them anymore, but they do here. Definitely a stop if you live in Bellingham, or are passing through between Seattle and Vancouver. read more

Not impressed. Went for food and drinks . Upon arrival the place looked as though it was under construction. No seating to speak of except a couple tables with a few stools, some tight booths, and a high stainless steel bar. The place is terribly dark and decor sucks. Drinks were weak, beer selection odd and dismal, and all food is bought frozen and then over deep fried. Had the Coconut Curry Corn Dog expecting the batter to be something like that of butterflied coconut prawns. Instead it was just a somewhat spicy corn dog with a few tiny bits of coconut sprinkled on top that fell off when lifted off the dish. Not ever going back!! read more

Been here a few times. It was enjoyable the first time. But the second time i went in the bartender power tripped out on me. Plenty of other great bars in Bellingham better off just leaving this one alone. read more
