What a quaint local coffee shop!!! It's easy to just walk past it, but if you go inside, they feature not only FREE coffee of their beans you can take with you and go, but also can purchase so many different kinds of roasts. It's really nice to see so many people come in. I will say the lady at the front seemed a bit agitated - but her other staff were lovely and helpful. You can purchase the beans by 1/4, 1/2, pound etc. Happy this small business is in the area!

I had no idea this place existed. I was just on google maps looking for coffee shops in the area that were not a Starbucks or a place I have been before. When I stepped foot in here I was not expecting it to be crammed with barrels of coffee and teas. Not sure if they are always there or if it was just on that day and time I went. Seemed a bit chaotic in there. But was cool to see many different kinds of coffee and such. I got an iced latte decaf and it was ok ... Think there was a bit too much milk. But it was drinkable. They seemed to have many interesting flavors of coffee too that you could add in. I would possibly give this place another try and try out a flavor coffee.

I'm sorry this is THE PLACE! Unassuming & pour your own coffee? And FINALLY some decaf drip coffee?? If you find yourself on the upper west side- it is worth the stop! So many different roasts to choose from, cheap & incredibly flavorful coffee- would -100% go again- what a vibe

I recently returned to The Sensuous Bean. A coffee roasting shop just off Columbus Avenue on West 70th Street. While there are many places you can buy coffee and tea, there is indeed something very sensuous about walking inside their very intimate coffee shop! When I strolled in I was intoxicated by the rich and powerful aromas of their fabulous coffees. I was waited on by Oli, I described the kj d of coffee I was looking to but snd Oli recommended that I try Tip of the Andes! The coffee was outstanding! The taste, yes, it was an enlightening and joyous to savor this rich and flavorful coffee! I

Fabulously intimate spot! I highly recommend Kenny's Blend. Stop in for a bag of fresh beans- you'll be glad you did!

The Sensuous Bean is my new favorite coffee place. It's a combination of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and TED Talk. You get the deep knowledge of coffee bean connoisseurs who obviously love their jobs along with the insane variety that comes from their densely packed store. The choice of coffees is staggering. Take one look at their menu replete with flavors and you'll get dizzy. That's even before you start monkeying around with blends... I had no idea what I wanted, but after talking with the guys, they properly gauged my tastes and pointed me toward the Italian-Venezuelan blend. Luckily, they already had some brewed for me to try and its robust flavor was exactly what I needed. I only got one bag, but I know for a fact I'll be coming back to this lovely place to sample some of their other incredible beans.

just 2 of the amazing, unique coffee flavors i've had at this hidden little coffee shop in the 70's on the UWS.

This was a very brief visit, after dinner out,…read moreand based on the very nice service this evening, I want to return very soon, so that I can really enjoy looking around the store. There is a lot to see, and I did not have the time due to my own schedule. The man who helped us was so very nice and kind. I believe he said he is usually at their Brooklyn shop, but he was helping out in this west side of Manhattan shop. He explained about the MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION colorful, rainbow, STAR-SHAPED LOLLIPOPS near the cashier pay area. Please SEE MY PHOTOS. IT'S SUGAR has raised more than $1 MILLION DOLLARS for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, thanks to the people who bought the special lollipops; AND their goal is to raise $2 Million dollars for The Make-a-Wish Foundation. So, if you are near the store, please stop in. Buy a MAKE-A-WISH lollipop. Look around. Enjoy the candy sights you see, and make a purchase. They have Totsie Roll Pops, too!! And so much more, I have to visit again...soon! :) FOR VISITORS TO NYC--you will be near this store if you are in the Columbus Circle area, and the Lincoln Center area. And, it's a nice walk from the theatre district and the Fifth Avenue area, too. NYC is a great WALKING CITY, so, if you are heading out for the day, wear comfortable walking/running shoes, so that you can walk over and visit this shop. And, Thank You to the man from Brooklyn working at the store. Your great customer service made the visit a pleasure!

Just left there where I was accused of stealing drug paraphernalia. Some dumb novelty mug pipe…read morecombo thing. I don't smoke or use cannabis so it's literally of no use to me. It's a heat wave and my daughter is at her college orientation. While we wait for her we've been finding creative ways to stay cool. Before heading into the shops at Columbus we headed into its sugar because we're with my 10m old and he likes looking at the lights and bright colors. I picked up a mug called "wake and bake" and asked my husband does it work and how. I then put it down. When exiting an employee in a purple shirt was kind of blocking the door. I thought that was odd but people are weird. She even almost bumped into someone trying to walk in. She then accuses me of stealing the mug. I was confused and said I put it down and continued on my way, but I'm annoyed that a company that I frequented often with my older kids would accuse me of stealing. If you were watching so closely you should have done a better job and watched me place it back down. How outrageously inappropriate it was to try and smile and play with my 10 month old while you were moments away from accusing his mother. As much as my older kids like It's Sugar I'm going to be thinking twice before purchasing anything there ever again. Maybe it's for the best and I should be supporting local businesses. I'm honestly stuck on the fact that they thought a mother pushing her infant child was attempting to steal something so wildly inappropriate.
