JR at the Screen machine came out and installed many different products a few years back. I recently reached out to JR at least five times for him to contact me for replacement items and he has completetly ghosted me. There are only recording machines for both his office and cell phone so you cannot talk to a person. To begin, my wife and I purchased a TigerWire security screen from JR back in 2011 for our home and absolutely loved it. With 2 kids, 2 dogs and endless normal use over 8 years it never needed a single repair or even had any visible damage! Well worth the investment. Recently, we purchased a new home and quickly realized how much we missed having the ability to leave our front door open and still be secure. So when we saw the "MeshTec" screens sold at HD (they look almost exactly the same), and found them on sale for fathers day for $1200, we just bought one. The $1200 did not include install FYI. Shortly after that HD rep called to confirm my order and let us know a third party contractor would be out to measure and then come back to install when it arrived. Over the next 4 months HD delivered 3 doors all with problems so we sent them back! The first was the wrong color entirely (its was called "Almond" however was almost as white as the white vinyl window frame next to it! The second was the correct color and got completely install before realizing the handle and latching mechanism was broken internally and could not be simply repaired or replaced, and finally, the third door arrived and color was again a different shade as the previous 2 ( but we were going to go with it anyways) and was installed completely only to discover the door was ever so slightly bent and very noticeable and effected its locking! We really couldn't believe this. Of course HD blamed the MeshTec Co. but ultimately we knew that these doors were bound to have problems in the future so we cancelled our order and called The Screen machine (which we should have done from the beginning). J.R. called us back and was out for a consult and measure within a day or so. He was on-time and as soon as we saw him, we remembered that he was who sold us our last one and he remembered our home as well. He gave us a discount for being returning customers and told us he call us in when the door was in and ready for install. He gave us an accurate timeframe to expect it and we gave him a deposit. When the door was in, he called us and said he'd be able to install in a day or so and put it on the schedule. The day of, 2 of his guys were there to install which took a couple hours. They were courteous, and professional and did a fabulous job. We we blow away at the difference in door quality from the MeshTec door. everything about this door is better quality! The color is fabulous, the seal is perfect, and the latching/ locking/ and handle is way easier and smoother to operate. We could go on and on. Please do yourself a favor and get a quality door thats going to last from The Screen Machine who are going to give you great service. Waited 3 weeks to get a 3rd custom shade screen and it is WRONG SIZE! POOR INSTALATION and UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE for approximately $500! Conclusion: We can not recommend the screen machine. read more

When I saw the results, I scheduled another installation for the back of the house to match. It is worth having the additional safety feature when leaving windows open on hot nights. read more

I moved into a new house that has French doors from the master bedroom on to the deck. This seemed lovely when I was in the process of buying the house, until I moved in and realized there were no screens and I couldn't very well just leave the doors open and let my pets out and the bugs, wildlife and riffraff in. Unfortunately, the door sizes were odd, and I ultimately wanted a security-type screen so that I could leave the doors open for airflow as much as possible. After doing a LOT of research, I ended up in touch with JR at The Screen Machine. He gave me a bunch of configuration and security-level options for the doors, and also gave me quotes to put security screens in all of my other vulnerable windows. He gave me an extremely detailed estimate with every possible option so that I could manage my spend. These screens aren't cheap, but they look fantastic (not prison-y) and are extremely secure. I feel way better about leaving the windows open while I sleep and for the pets during the day now. JR is also just a really nice guy, which is always helpful when dealing with contractors that you allow into your house. We found out about The Screen Machine after seeing some videos online and I noticed they would be at the Bonita, CA Chili Cook Off so we went to see the product. They had a trailer with some good examples and a few brochures to look at. After considering both products we decided to purchase a Lifestyle Garage Screen Door and TigerWire Security Door. The sales people are very busy and you can tell, don't have a lot of time to discuss the product over the phone if you have the time to catch their display at an event or visit their business I would recommend doing that as it is the best way to get a real sense of the quality of these products and to understand why they can't come out and give a free estimate and demonstration of these products. Every item is custom made so getting an accurate measurement is vital and unlike most products, the custom order takes some time to manufacture. We were given an approximate wait time of a month for production. We waited a little over a month and called the salesman to inquire about when our items would be ready. The owner called us back and said we should be expecting them to be completed soon and after a couple more weeks we had our doors. The quality has been great and even after having some initial installation issues the owner came back the same day to correct some of the problems involved with this custom installation. Overall a great product and great experience. Patience is key in any custom product and if you expect to be catered to and pampered for buying a custom item this is not the route for you. But if you can wait the necessary time to have these made and not be worried when it takes longer or requires more effort than most normal purchases, I think you will be happy with the end result as we were. read more

We ran into this company at the Fallbrook avocado festival. Their security screens are unique and built very well. We ordered 2 doors and they also installed an existing door we had for a third door. They were on time and did a fantastic job installing all three doors. They look great and our highly functional security screens as compared to tradition screens that are more like doors with small holes in them. They are sturdy, with great visibility and airflow, while providing a strong door for additional security . Great experience and quality product! read more

Unfortunately, I got locked out of my house and the only way back in was my window. The screen did not want to come out but with a lot of force we broke the screen. I took my screen to the store because it was cheaper than having them come to my house. Two days later I went to pick up the screen and tried to put it back in the window and it didn't fit. I called the store and explained that it was too small. He came to my house with the new screen and old screen. He could not fit the screen either. So he took it back to the shop, added some springs to it. One hour later came back to my house to repair with no charge. Thank you for all your hard work! read more

I needed a sliding door screen replaced. I don't have a vehicle large enough to haul the door. So I called the Screen Machine. I got a quote and almost choked, but again limited for not having a large vehicle. Setup an appointment and the gentleman stated he does Coronado jobs on a weekly basis but he might be able to get out to us sooner. Fine. The day of the appointment comes and goes. After several unanswered messages I went with another company. Hell, they were even cheaper! Should get zero stars, but not an option read more

Have spent the past 3 weeks trying to get Dan and JR to provide service on screen doors that were purchased approximately 5 years ago. The wheels on two of the doors have completely rotted and one of the doors has the paint peeling off. These were very expensive screen doors. Initially Dan had told me that they could be repaired - but now JR is telling me that it is 2 week wait (I have already been waiting 3 weeks) and that I should either a) take them to another place myself to get them repaired, or b) take them off throw them away. It took approx. 1 week to reach JR by phone and Dan was slow to respond to texts, ultimately telling me that I needed to speak to his "boss" JR to discuss schedules. JR indicated that the screens do not have any warranty and that since I live near water I should expect that the paint will fall off (funny thing is the paint is not falling off anything else I have). Bottom line is that these are very expensive screens that look nice when they are installed - but do not expect any service or repairs on them after they installed - since this company will not show up when repairs are needed. read more

We recently had new screens put in our windows from the Screen Machine. We had our old screens repaired several times because the dogs kept sticking their heads through them. These new screens are great!! I was concerned they'd look dark and industrial but they don't. They look just like a normal screen but now I don't have to worry about the dogs breaking through. We also had a sliding screen door put in the guest house. My neighbor has one of these but unlike the Screen Machine door she has had several people (including herself) walk right through it because they didn't realize a door was there. The one we had installed is a waffled design so you can see the screen but still enjoy the view and the fresh air. I am really impressed with the service and J.R. After calling other companies that didn't answer or gave some excuse why they didn't want my business it was a relief to speak with Dan who scheduled an appointment right away. We spoke on a Tuesday and the appointment was scheduled for that Saturday. Dan called when he was on his way, and arrived early for our appointment. JR did a great job with the screens in my house, all the screens were done on site in one day with no problem. Very happy with our screen door as well. We have replaced it a few times with ones from Home Depot, even one they said was "heavy duty" and they all stopped rolling in the track and really just sucked compare to the one we got from the Screen Machine Extremely reasonable compared to the other quotes I got from other screen companies which we have had no problems with.
