It's the beginning of fall and cool weather, and it's New York State, all of which put me in a lovely mood. However, being a B&B/yurt experience I wasn't sure how to go about the initial check-in. So, my first pleasure is the fact that I met Angela in the driveway, and then Chris came out (it is only fair to-say these two are fresh owners but not new to the hospitality business), and the grand tour was immediately warm and inviting. Homemade pastries, discussions about the wonderful historic, architecture, and themselves relaxed my husband and I from the seven hour trip immediately. We chose a Yurt stay as novelty and were extremely surprised with amenities. Lovely fresh pastries and morning foods, fresh water , coffees, and all the necessary items "to get you going", were provided. Options for eggs in the morning were available. Beds were very comfy. Yurts were very clean. Views plentiful with the option of an outdoor fire and chairs looking at one of the finger lakes available. After the first night we brought back new found friends for their own yurt experience (at 90 yers old no less). They were very pleased as well. Also, one of the best parts was hearing the outdoor sounds as if in a tent but in a homey setting without the tent mess! We will certainly do another long weekend next fall. Highly recommend!

The decor was nicely done and the room was stocked with everything we needed. The pool is very nice as well. Overall, the resort was quiet and the staff was super friendly. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING. I don't know that I've ever had a better breakfast anywhere else. My only wish was that the chairs outside the Seneca room were Adirondacks rather than metal chairs with cushions. It rained quite a bit, but when it wasn't raining, we were unable to sit on them because the cushions were wet. Overall, I highly recommend this B&B for a great location and experience!

The B& B was impossible to find at night...or even during the day & a little dangerous to cross a railroad track then make a sudden sharp right turn down a hill !! Breakfasts were very good and I especially enjoyed eating outside on the sunny patio with a view. We stayed here for 2 nights in the Cottage Blue/French Yellow Suite - which are two adjoining rooms with a lot of beds - great for a group! The room was so cute and adorable. There was a half bath in the room and a full bathroom across the hall. I absolutely loved the breakfast they provided on the weekends. Lou & Vickie cooked it themselves! The first time we had German eggs - mmmm cheesy eggs - I finished my entire plate because it was so yummyyy! The second night we had peach french toast, which was also very good! There were also homemade biscuits, scones, parfait yogurt with fresh fruits. All the food was nicely presented and delicious! They also serve coffee at 6:30AM for those early birds! This is also a great location if you're visiting Watkins Glen State Park. We were able to walk to the park and save $ on parking. Overall, I had such a pleasant time here at Lake Valley Legends! Lou and Vickie are the ultimate of hosts - friendly, welcoming and so kind. They're also fabulous cooks! The place really felt like our own. 4 of us had two adjoining rooms which was basically our own little suite. One room had a half bath inside and our full bath was down the hallway and only to be used by our two rooms which was nice. We were able to come in and out of the house as we pleased. Everything was so easy. Saturday breakfast: Fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) with vanilla yogurt and granola to start Coffee, orange juice, water, tea, milk German eggs was the main course - i would compare it to a cheesy frittata Then we were on our way to Letchworth State Park, we came back late afternoon and showered and rested. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. Not once did we feel uncomfortable. Sunday breakfast: Ambrosia - homemade and delicious! Coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, water, tea, milk Peach french toast - so decadant and sweet. It was more like a baked bread pudding. This was the best! Notes: This place is within walking distance to Watkins Glen State Park if you are up for the walk. It's about a 15 minute walk or 0.8 miles. Once you get to the top of Watkins Glen you can even walk home (all down hill on the walk home since the park is all uphill walking!) You can get there early and not pay for parking too (before 8 am) A great weekend at a wonderful B&B!

I actually wish we had a hot tub instead - there's nothing better than a warm hot tub on a cool night. There was an enclosed porch as well as a deck in the room. The bathroom was a little dated as far as style, but like I said it was huge. The property itself is large and very beautiful. I watched the sun rise while soaking in the tub a couple of mornings and it was simply divine. The property is magnificent and the views are absolutely spectacular from every angle! The common areas are elegant, yet comfy and the dining area boasts floor to vaulted ceiling windows that frame the view beautifully. My first morning I requested a "kitchen sink" omelet that Penny made with all fresh ingredients and it was absolutely delicious. The fresh bananas from the market were the best I'd ever had in my life. I enjoyed sitting at the bar chatting with Penny while she glided effortlessly through the kitchen. I am sure she would laugh to hear me say that, but it's true :) Penny helped us set up a wine and brewery tour that we thoroughly enjoyed. She recommended Kismet New American Bistro for an elegant dinner. I must say, she has excellent taste because this petite restaurant completely blew me away! The food was absolutely exquisite and the staff was extremely personable. The owner does a very good job of keeping it up. When I went to check in, nobody was at the office, but there was a phone number listed. I called, and unfortunately, the man that ran, the place was taking care of some personal business. All of the rooms are on a combination door lock so he gave me the combination, and told me we would just take care of the paperwork in the morning. I went over to check in in the morning, and my first night was so good, I decided to stay for another three nights. My first night was booked through hotels.com, but the owner told me that I could book with him directly for the remaining three nights, and he would give me a discount. It saved me some dollars. I appreciate it. He was friendly, and helpful. Again, nothing fancy on the room. The room and the bathroom were spotless The TV got a good picture with cable, there was a coffee pot, a fridge, and a microwave, and the bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of room, and I'm a big guy. The only thing is, there is no shower mat, so you have to be careful. There were plenty of towels.. The Wi-Fi worked great, with enough speed to easily stream video one evening the Wi-Fi did go down, I contacted the gentleman, and he said he would take care of it. He actually came over to my room, to let me know had been fixed, when he could've just called or texted me. That was excellent service. The price was very reasonable, compared to some of the other places in town. Again, you're not getting anything fancy, you are getting a very simple comfortable place.
