I just don't like being in a sleeping bag on the ground, not having a bathroom, and well camping. I was recently invited to go glamping. Glamping is an elevated camping experience - think glamorous camping. I was intrigued to say the least and decided to head on out to Firelight Camps in Ithaca, NY to try it out. I actually did sleep in a tent as you can see. Although it was the inside of the tent that elevated my experience. While it was a real tent I had a wooden floor and a real bed! The bed was so comfortable too. I didn't want to get up in the morning. I loved hearing the sounds of nature outside. There was no electricity, but there were lanterns you could use in the tent. The lanterns even had a USB plug in to charge your phone. The campgrounds were beautiful! There was a fire pit and larger tent to eat meals in. They also had bathrooms to shower in. They weren't in the tents, but just a short walk from them. We had a fabulous time chatting and just hanging out in the common area. Of course what camping experience is complete with out s'mores? When the fire pit was lit the s'mores came out. These were an elevated experience as well. They were the most delicious s'mores I've ever tasted - homemade marshmallows and graham crackers!

They have full hook-ups with sewer and WiFi. They have a pool, a game room, and frisbee golf for the kiddos and adults. They have open fields and a cute pond for fishing and morning/nightly walks. We will definitely be going back... the co-owners, Reid and Wendy Snedaker, were the nicest people you could meet. Also, I can't forget to mention the welcome gift of the best homemade chocolate chip bread.

However, other B&Bs most likely will not live up to Lake Valley Legends! Lou & Vickie make this place so enjoyable. Their hospitality and personalities just make this the best B&B ever! We stayed here for 2 nights in the Cottage Blue/French Yellow Suite - which are two adjoining rooms with a lot of beds - great for a group! The room was so cute and adorable. There was a half bath in the room and a full bathroom across the hall. I absolutely loved the breakfast they provided on the weekends. Lou & Vickie cooked it themselves! The first time we had German eggs - mmmm cheesy eggs - I finished my entire plate because it was so yummyyy! The second night we had peach french toast, which was also very good! There were also homemade biscuits, scones, parfait yogurt with fresh fruits. All the food was nicely presented and delicious! They also serve coffee at 6:30AM for those early birds! This is also a great location if you're visiting Watkins Glen State Park. We were able to walk to the park and save $ on parking. Overall, I had such a pleasant time here at Lake Valley Legends! Lou and Vickie are the ultimate of hosts - friendly, welcoming and so kind. They're also fabulous cooks! The place really felt like our own. 4 of us had two adjoining rooms which was basically our own little suite. One room had a half bath inside and our full bath was down the hallway and only to be used by our two rooms which was nice. We were able to come in and out of the house as we pleased. Everything was so easy. Saturday breakfast: Fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries) with vanilla yogurt and granola to start Coffee, orange juice, water, tea, milk German eggs was the main course - i would compare it to a cheesy frittata Then we were on our way to Letchworth State Park, we came back late afternoon and showered and rested. It felt like we had the place to ourselves. Not once did we feel uncomfortable. Sunday breakfast: Ambrosia - homemade and delicious! Coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, water, tea, milk Peach french toast - so decadant and sweet. It was more like a baked bread pudding. This was the best! Notes: This place is within walking distance to Watkins Glen State Park if you are up for the walk. It's about a 15 minute walk or 0.8 miles. Once you get to the top of Watkins Glen you can even walk home (all down hill on the walk home since the park is all uphill walking!) You can get there early and not pay for parking too (before 8 am) A great weekend at a wonderful B&B!

Most of them seem really simple to fix, so I was a little let down that as busy as they are and as hard as it is to get reservations that they dont carve out time to upgrade. The bed was so uncomfortable that you sink in the middle. My husband ended up sleeping on the twin bunk because he suffers with back pain and couldn't tolerate the mattress. The couch is also pretty sunken in and at a strange slope. Its a pretty couch but not comfortable. The jets in the hot tub need major cleaning. The shower curtain is pretty disgusting and needs to be replaced or thoroughly cleaned. The condition of the pots and pans are unacceptable. It would be nice to have some disinfectant spray to clean the counters and tables and a new sponge for washing dishes. I think a privacy curtain would be excellent for the front door. Being able to see through as the breakfast gets delivered is not ideal or private. Overall, we had a nice stay here and would probably come again if these issues were updated. The cabin is private and quiet. The trails are a nice feature to walk around in. The location was great.

I have stayed in other cabins upstate and this was definitely the cleanest. I'm allergic to cats and dogs and was worried about pet hair but there wasn't any and my allergies were fine! Corrissa, who manages the property is absolutely wonderful. She's friendly and was very attentive to our needs/always available should we need anything. She also gave us some wonderful recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Thanks, Corrissa! Mary, who brought tasty breakfasts was also delightful. The cabin also has a washer and dryer which came in handy. As for the location, it's perfect, close to trails and some wonderful wineries. We can't recommend this cabin enough!

They added extra fire pits so you can go to the community fire place or have your own private time. Everything was perfectly clean, much better than many hotels I have stayed in. The bath house had lots of amenities. Two of the tents have electricity for fans and lamps. Every tent has a battery charger for your phones. It was so wonderful to wake up to the sound of birds. The check in spot has a note with the owners phone to call. They show you the amenities and to your tent. The lounge has tables to eat and exchange your lanterns. I did not use the lantern to charge my phone I brought a battery pack. They have umbrellas and rain boots you can use if you need to. The breakfast had coffee. Tea, and a tea kettle if you need boiling water for oatmeal. I ate a crescent roll and jelly for breakfast and a yogurt with granola. The lounge also had fliers for attractions near by. The bathroom was clean and nice. It was a but of a walk if you stay in Aspen, but you also have privacy. The campfire was lit every night but you did have to share with the other glampers but everyone was very nice. The pond is newly constructed but will look nice once it is all settled. I ate out but there were two grills available for use in the cooking area. We also took their wine tour. It was $100 per person but I would say worth it and very convenient! Christine is very knowledgable about wine. The price included stops to 5 wine tastings at different places. One stop served lunch, lunch was at your own cost. After the tour we had a back in the tent before heading out again. The inside of the tipi was very cute and I would stay again.

We stayed on a tent site which was perfectly groomed and quiet with trees surrounding. Each spot had a picnic table, fire pit, and grill rack and there is a clean, brand-new looking bathroom just a short walk away. It's a beautiful property and we can't wait to stay there again!

A perfect way to sum up a weekend stay at this lovely B&B in Hammondsport, NY. Located just steps away from Keuka Lake, the town of Hammondsport, and a short drive to local wineries in the area, the Blushing Rose is a great place to drop your bags, hang your hat, and get relaxin'. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by the owners with warm smiles and "make yourself at home" assurance. The first floor has a living room area where there is a guest TV, books, brochures for all the local wineries and attractions, and menus for nearby restaurants. Just upstairs you pass a game room with a table and view of the front yard, to get to the guest area. There are four spacious guest bedrooms at the Blushing Rose, all with queen beds and their own bathroom (I believe one room has a private bathroom just outside the door). I liked the Starlight room with a comfortable lofted queen bed and canopy twirled with white lights that you can turn on and off with a button by the bed. The Starlight room had a seating area with views of the back garden, a closet armoire, and a mirrored dresser to store clothes if needed. Just down the hall is a hospitality area complete with a mini fridge stocked with water, and room to place your new purchases from the local wineries. There is a table stocked full of shampoos and other toiletries that you may have forgot to bring along, as well as an iron and hairdryers. (As a lady, I much appreciated this). When you check-in to the B&B, there is a plate in your room with freshly-baked cookies and other little snacks. When you return at night from dinner and a walk by the lake, there are adirondack chairs that you can lounge in with a burbling fountain and lake view, or you can sit out on the porch that overlooks the sleepy street. AND!-there is another plate of cookies (new varieties) and tea waiting in the dining area for a bedtime snack. I am a cookie fanatic, so I was so terribly happy trying each one of the chocolate chip, ginger sugar and peanut butter cookies waiting for me when I got "home." The organic and home-made breakfasts are also incredible. I always have fun at B&B's because of the creativity that the owners put into their breakfasts. The first breakfast was private, at the dining table, with slices of pumpkin bread pudding, fresh melon with raspberry puree, and a delicious eggs benedict on whole wheat, served on china. There was also orange juice, water, and coffee. Light seaside music plays in the background, reminding you that you are indeed on vacation. The second breakfast, we were joined by our fellow guests at the dining table. Breakfast was a raspberry bread, with a plate of strawberries, banana, kiwi and strawberry cream. Next came what I would describe as a boosted pancake, with berries and 100% natural maple syrup. It was fun to get to know other travelers and swap stories. As mentioned earlier, Marianne and Sam make you feel like you are at home, and breakfast was relaxed, with the conversation free-flowing. After check-out, you are sent home with a care-package and a good sense that you had a vacation.
