Keeping it in the Greek family…read more This classic inner Adelaide suburban corner shop used to house George and his family serving up deli items when every suburb had a reliable deli for the last minute, need it right now milk, ice cream or bread before we had supermarkets open to 9.00pm (yes this is awhile ago). Back then Parkside was a bit dingy, a bit boho and very multicultural - Greek and Italian families predominated. Fast forward 25 years and Parkside has now been gentrified and and is a bit yuppiefied but blessedly Duthy St deli harks back to its deli origins and not just in name only. Vasili our host, has been smoothly operating a very successful cafe here for a number of years. Good service, well trained baristas, efficient chefing on view and a consistent, reliable extremely well presented selection of breakfast and lunch cold and hot items. Shrewdly but thankfully very competitively priced in a locale that could cough up more. Always good and always fresh -congratulations on maintaining the tradition in a slice of slightly out of the way suburbia. PS I do miss the Haigh's dark chocolate buttons though that used to accompany the coffee (I'd be prepared to pay a little more to have the chance to drop one in to create a gooey chocolaty melting moment on top of my latte/cappuccino froth). Ah - those were the days. Sigh!

Especially got a laugh from the visible work 'notice board' reminding wait staff to generally stop being idiots and stay off their phones during service piled amongst other threats. Does explain the faultless service on their part. Food is pricey but utterly amazing, the space is huge and the service is awesome so ruling with an iron fist must be working for them! Coffee was made by who I assume was the owner as he exuded the kind of confidence with a coffee machine only decades could foster. The eggs were perfect, my partners french toast and burger were beautiful and all up it was a great and riotous experience. Will be back!

Much as it pains me to say, I really really enjoyed this burger experience…read more Why would it 'pain me' I hear you ask. Well I must admit kind of wanted to hate Grill'd. I wanted the service to be flawed and the burger to be rubbish because this franchised store is muscling in on the home turf of some fantastic, locally owned burger joints, all with brilliant back stories and great local connections (that being said, I am very aware that Grill'd do some great local initiatives at each store for local community groups). Grill'd is a Victorian franchise and we all know that there's a bit of an established rivalry there so I had plenty of reason to be apprehensive. So here's the tale of my first (and yes, certainly not my last) Grill'd visit; Even a week after their grand opening there was a line-up out the door - either people are keen to try something hot and new or these burgers are genuinely good (probably a little from column a and a little from column b). The line moved super quickly and soon we were at the front - ordering a Mustard and Pickled! beef burger and a Goats Cheese and Hummus lamb burger - there was a choice of bread - we chose the healthier looking wholemeal one and then topped it off with some 'famous Grill'd Chips' (a claim I though a bit bold considering I'd previously never heard of their fame....) Finding a table in the crowd was a little struggle but we grabbed one and not long after, despite the large number of orders, our food arrived. At first it looked a little too healthy - I get that it's a healthy burger joint, but when it comes to burgers there is a fine line...any how, the first bite took away any doubt I had in my mind. The mustard and pickle burger was divine - great flavours and delicious at every bite. The lamb burger was fantastic as well (please note I didn't eat ALL of both - I shared...) and to top it off, the seasoning on the chips has left me wanting more (the chips themselves weren't anything to write home about, but the seasoning blew my mind). After my meal I also felt great - not heavy and weighed down like I feel after eating some other burgers! There are many other options on the menu that I'm itching to try so with a heavy and a guilty conscious I will be returning to Grill'd in the very near future.

Cute kids burger deal in box but it wasn't a mini it was a big one cut in half! Steak sandwich would have been good had it have been on a toasted thin lepinja or whatever but it was on a giant bun. The "healthy" zucchini chips were battered and then fried. The sweet potato chips weren't battered but they were reheated so we're soggy yet still greasy and salty. You can't buy a side salad unless you buy a complete chicken salad meal (All salads have chicken, no other option). If you just want a burger and a beer then this place is fine off peak when it's not packed but it's not healthy or fresh. It just has great imagery but so does everywhere now. The staff are real nice and friendly much better than the other new boutique chains whose staff still have that less interested slap up burger joint feel. This chain is the 'Virgin' (as in Richard Branson) of the burger chains. The Norwood store has a great location. Bare in mind in terms of quick eatery options around now compared to say Argo across the road, I gave it 3 stars but compared to other similar burger joints its 4 stars (4.5 due to great staff, location and Reggae singers!)

Importantly though they're one of the few places open on public holidays who do all day breakfast. I was there late - around 3pm when they close at 4 - after a very late New Years party. They had unfortunately run out of the beans for a fantastic sounding Moroccan breakfast, so I went for the big breakfast. The price difference was on the house, which sets the tone for this place - they care about their customers. The food is very obviously good quality, and while the breakfast was more than large enough, the quality is what really stood out. With the exception of a pre-processed hash brown, every piece was perfectly cooked and utterly delicious. A final stand-out are the staff. This is how staff at every cafe should be - energetic, smiling and super friendly. I'll definitely be back whenever I want to treat myself :)

Portions are large! pretty pricey food but good nonetheless. I was able to come here and work on school and use their WiFi, sat in the back with a lot of space. The place itself is very cute, albeit a little warm. There are two servers helping me; and the original server, femme presenting, was okay. they were a little rude and haven't checked in much/been overly kind. the male presenting server has checked in multiple times, refilled water, and been very very kind. All in all 4/5, for okay service, costly food and warm environment.

This is a burger bar - but their food was great :) I don't normally like burger bars - because I am not a huge fan of big beef patties, particularly when they are cooked medium (as I like my meat well done) But I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a number of vegetarian options. My mum also has a gluten intolerance - so burger bars can be problematic for her too - but they happily made her an open burger with no bread. There are many places along Jetty Road at the bay - butt his one is definitely worth a look in :) I noted while I was down at the bay that McDonalds has closed down - with burger bars like this in the area - I am not surprised!! The signage does not stand out and it really does look like just another take out store but the burgers are absolutely sensational. The toppings are generous and so is the size of the burger. I had the beef mushroom burger and my sister had the chicken mushroom burger. The toppings on my 'beef mushroom' burger included cheese, coleslaw, red onion and mustard. Probably good to mention that they have six different vegetarian burgers which is a pleasant surprise I imagine for any vegetarian or healthy concious person. The service is great considering how busy they were! Also the burgers are excellent value for what you get- which is fresh toppings and generous sizes. Plus, we had a brief chat to the owners and found out that this is a family run business. It ALWAYS feels better to support South Australian businesses. We'll be back for sure!

Queen Street Café is a great demonstration of a fun creative team. The café itself is very decently sized. Lots of space inside and out. A big long communal table as well if you want to dine alone. I think looking back at previous reviews, they are getting better when it comes to service. I ordered the gnocchi with roasted seasonal veg. Lovely pan fried brussel sprouts, roasted pumpkin, spinach, and mushrooms. Best of all, the gnocchi was soooo sooo soft and buttery. Wow, it's been a long time since I have had gnocchi like this. Well done chef! So much flavour in this dish as well. What better to go with a veggie gnocchi than a carrot, orange, and ginger juice. It so so tasty and fresh. I look forward to my next visit Queen Street Cafe!

I don't personally want to have kids charging around in a cafe on the one hand, and in between tables and chairs on the side of a reasonably busy road on the other hand. I don't care how trendy it is and I certainly don't care how many young up and coming professionals are discussing the better stocks to buy since the global financial crisis at brunch; if they have children they should be watching them, especially if they insist on sitting outside next to a reasonably busy street. There is a level train crossing at one end of the block here and that means there are regular periods when several cars will be banked up and suddenly driving through. Half a dozen times I saw kids nearly get toppled by traffic while I was sitting here. I was most alarmed. There's such a great children's playground down the road, all fenced in and beautiful - up here in cafe la la land the adult were so engrossed in the food and conversation they just ignored a few kids who were evidently still in play mode. I have decided the place gets enough custom without me talking about the lovely furniture or the strictly word of mouth policy that the owners have - no business card, no brochure, no website... just word of mouth; well, the word of mouth at my mid morning soiree was "Watch out!" Seriously, I'd rather eat somewhere else and leave all the swank alone.
