What a great dinner experience at The Exeter Apothecary, downtown Exeter. Located in a beautifully…read morerestored building, this is much more than a great cocktail bar. Sitting above sister restaurant Vino e Vivo, chefs Nick and Paul bring elevated small and large plates to this casual setting. Cocktails were great, as you might expect. Head bartender Chris has a creative list of cocktails and I'm sure could mix up anything else you might desire. We tried several small and large plates. Really hard to call out a favorite as they were all good. The Parsnip soup was creamy, rich and delicious with several touches such as crisped rice and basil oil on top that really made this a standout. Beet tartare was great as well with rich delicious beet flavor and texture reminiscent of beef tartare. Don't miss the cornbread with pork belly butter! Service is warm and friendly and chef Nick ran many of the dishes to the tables and bar personally. You could see (and taste) the passion he has for food. Exeter has another gem with Exeter Apothecary !

Cocktail Lovers, this must be the place!…read more Calling all cocktail lovers, make Exeter Apothecary your next place to visit. Located right above the beautiful Vino E Vivo restaurant (see prior review), it's the new HIT spot in Exeter. Only about 20 minutes or so from Portsmouth but a fun spot for cocktails, wine and dessert. Ambiance is chill with comfy bar seats, side tables and bartenders that can shake, sitr and whip up almost any cocktail to your liking. We did share their Amaro Flip which was fabulous. I know we will be back for sure since they offer small plates and decadent desserts too. Cheers~

Service was stellar the entire night. The staff was so friendly, knowledgeable and hard working; a very popular and busy establishment. We had draft Pacifico beers which were nice and cold. We just had to try the baby pork shanks appetizer with zippy peach BBQ sauce served atop fennel and cabbage slaw with grilled peaches. Absolutely splendid dish! For entrees (which includes a salad and focaccia bread) we ordered the herb encrusted prime rib and the chicken saltimbocca. Both were extremely gererous portions. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the mushroom cream sauce was heavenly! The mashed potatoes and fresh veggies went perfectly with this dish. The prime rib was surprisly tough and chewey, but once we notified the staff, they did everything to try to make it right. We finished off with a limocello digestive. We were well taken care of and enjoyed the ambiance of the space and the vibes at the bar. The restaurant and restrooms were spotless. Small parking lot or on street parking. Reservations are strongly recommended as this place fills up fast!

Couple downfalls though, the service was really really slow, it took forever to get a drink or our orders in. Where we were sat was kind of in a weird spot where you cannot see the music and you are right in the front when you walk in. Also I got the fish tacos and they were sooo salty. The people I was with got the steak tips and they said they were good!

There was a fresh scent and it seemed well kept. Our waitress let us know the specials. Both were mushroom appetizers, which I thought was a little strange. She also said they were out of mashed potato, which bummed me out a little cause I was going to get the baked haddock with mash. We decided to order a kids butter pasta, chicken finger dinner and chicken Alfredo pizza. Once everything came out, my son was putting Parmesan on his noodles when I noticed mold in the jar. The waitress was apologetic and took the cheese and dish away. I asked if we could order a cheese pizza in its place. I strayed in on my Alfredo chicken pizza. I wasn't crazy about the crust and the few couple slices each had some chewy bites of chicken that I had to take out of my mouth. My daughter seemed happy with her tenders but the fries were so thick, they didn't have any crisp to them- just large slices of potato. We got boxes and asked for the cheese pizza "to go", as well as our check. To my surprise, the pasta was still on the bill. When I pointed that out to the waitress and suggested they be taken off (due to the moldy cheese), she said she'd need to ask the manager. After a bit of a discussion between the two of them, the noodles were removed, but I thought that should have been a no brainer. The waitress was very sweet, neither the cheese or the bill was any fault of hers, but we didn't have a great first impression.

SKK has climbed to the top of our favorite places to go…read more Food- A+ I have a few dietary restrictions and they have always gone out of their way to accommodate me and never make me feel like I'm a bother. Drinks- A+ We have worked in the service industry. We have bartended. We are, how do I say it, drink snobs. We often get our regular drinks but they offer weekly drink specials and different flavors of pudding shots that are amazing. Ambiance- A+ it's a smaller establishment and in the winter we are all packed inside. If you're looking for a quiet restaurant with jazz playing lightly in the background and candles flickering, it's probably not for you. This is your local stop for food, drinks, conversation and fun. Once the weather warms a bit and the patio opens it's where you will find us. Staff- is there an A+++ in the rankings? We love the staff. They're fun, friendly, accommodating and kind. From the servers to the bartender to the cooks and everyone in between, we love them all. Owners- A+ the Severino family is amazing. We adore each and every one of them. I've seen negative remarks and it's really sad that people will take to a business page to leave a negative review because of a difference of opinion that has nothing to do with the establishment or the food. When you walk in you're always greeted by one of the family and made to feel welcome. They give back to the community. They've provided food and hot coffee to first responders. They support the locals and their loyal customers. And they're HUMAN. Are they perfect? No, but guess what? Neither are we. They're always busting ass and trying their best to give everyone a great experience. So if you haven't tried Sportman's Kitchen and Keg in Sebago, add it to your list and get there. Your belly will thank you!

They were spicy and delicious with a sweet sauce on the side. We also split large fries that were not only amazing to look at but amazingly delicious. Bathrooms are upstairs and there isn't an elevator so I wouldn't say that it's handicap friendly unfortunately. I highly recommend.
