We have never been to this area before. Before the trip I looked out things to do sightseeing and restaurants. This was our first night in b 1000 islands area and our only night that would be time for Sackets Harbor. We did a little sightseeing before dinner at war of 1812 Park. Then we went to this restaurant and thought there might be a wait and would put our name down and finish looking through the quaint little town maybe for another 20 minutes before dinner. There was no wait because there were closing down because of equipment malfunction. The owner and/or chef came out and said she was sorry and I said oh my gosh we were looking forward to this as I was planning our trip and the menu looks so good and our first time to this area. She said let me see what I can do what were you thinking of having and the things I named were still possible because they were not cooked on the equipment that was malfunctioning. So she still let us come back in about 15 minutes so we could finish taking a little walk through the town. And came back about 815. First off let me tell you what a beautiful view and a wonderful server, Sorry did not catch her name. I don't really even want to mention this because they were so nice to take us but the French onion soup was off it just was basically hot water no taste with cheese on top. But the server quickly fixed it and brought me lobster bisque soup instead which also my parents had and it was amazing. We then shared a wedge salad with amazing homemade dressings we tried blue cheese and of course 1000 island and also a grapeseed vinegrette. We then split the crabcakes which were very very good and ahi tuna on top of Crostini. Honestly the best I ever had with soy and wasabi drizzle all arranged beautiful on the plate.So overall amazing meal very good food, Atmosphere, and service. Thank you again for taking us even with your equipment problems that really made starts our trip wonderful. And will definitely come back if an area or recommend to friends. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here tonight and we are not ones who complain ever, we are both servers and bartenders so we totally get how things can get and are always very understanding. We got there around 815 and just wanted to have a couple of drinks and a nice dinner. We were seated and 10 minutes or so go by and nobody ever acknowledged us. We were both ready to get up and walk out, I think that the hostess heard our conversation and she came over and said "You server will be over soon he's running food". Ok...we have it 5 more minutes and still nobody. Then she comes over and takes out drink order and says "I've been running him ragged all night" and laughed about it. At this point it's not funny at all as we see 3 other tables sitting there that haven't had a damn person acknowledge them either. We waiting for a long time before our server even came over. I can say it wasn't his fault because we watched him get about 4 tables in a row while he still had a few outside. What bothered us was that you have 2 bartenders, a hostess and 3 other servers doing NOTHING! One was at the bar drinking, there was one rolling silverware, and two other just sitting there watching this kid struggle! They were still clearly all on the clock because they were still screwing around doing stupid stuff like cleaning the coffee pots when you have 2 servers struggling! The hostess was not impressive at all, she was laughing and completely joking about how shitty the service was. We are amazing tippers and like I said we get the restaurant business but tonight was absolutely horrible. We will never come back and if anyone ever asks me about the Boathouse I will tell them exactly how shitty our service was. I had dinner at the Boathouse on 7/17/20 and was very disappointed. First, I ordered a Patron Margarita and it came with barely any salt on the rim of the glass. Second, It was so sour my dinner date or I could not drink it at a cost of $9.00. Third, I ordered Baked Haddock in a lemon wine sauce and orzo. It was served with fried and seasoned bread crumbs on top and a side of mash potatoes. I spoke with the waitress about the sauce and she was suppose to speak to the chef. She never responded. Lastly, the floor was wet from the a/c issues and I have slipping issues. My niece had to walk me to the restroom. The setting is beautiful, but I will never eat there again. I just got married here on August 12 and it was amazing! The food was delicious, staff was awesome, and the whole place looked great! All I had to do was show Vito an example of what I wanted and he and his staff put it all together and I couldn't have asked for anything better! My guests only have had good things to say about it also. So happy I chose to celebrate my special day at The Boathouse. Definitely a night to remember! I've have eaten at this place a million times and I can't quite figure out why I keep going back. On my most recent visit we had a six year old in tow and I knew it would be a safe bet since we could eat outside and he would be entertained by the seagulls. The dining areas both inside and outside are cozy and nice and the service here is always friendly but the food is just so mediocre. It always has been. Last time I had the Neptune which was haddock covered in a tomato broth with shrimp, clams, and scallops. There was nary a scallop or shrimp to be found and while decent tasting the dish was dull and uninspired and way overpriced at $21.50 (WHY??? Why did I order a $21.50 dish here????) I tried one of the chicken tenders and I have to say that Burger King's probably taste better. Do yourself a favor and skip this place! Tin Pan Galley, The Sackets Harbor Brewing Co, and the Hops Spot (all locally owned) offer far better alternatives than this tired out joint. read more

I have no complaints for this restaurant. We sat outside on a deck and it was lovely. We had brie and spinach artichoke dip for appetizers, both were delicious. I then had a burger for my meal and that had jalapeños, and pepper jack cheese on it, and it was very good as well. Their sweet potato fries were some of the best i've had. I'd like to write a glowing review about the food but I have no idea how it is because we sat on the patio with menus in hand for a full 20 min and was never approached by any staff to even take a drink order. At the 20 minute mark, a waitress who had seen us sit down made eye contact with me and still didn't acknowledge us. That's when we got up and left, my fiancée carried the menus back to the hostess station past multiple staff and still no one acknowledged us. I felt like I must have been a ghost or something, maybe we crossed into some sort of rip in the space-time continuum and only appeared to be in the same place as all these other people. The view was awesome for that 20 minutes though. If you guys are ready to take our drink order, you can find us next door at The Hops Spot. read more

This was my first visit. The restaurant was super busy and I felt bad for my waitress. She was hustling around table to table and you could tell she was frustrated. She was nice and got our drink refills timely but after we got our meals she kind of forgot about us and it took 15 minutes for her to pickup our check. The food is pricy. I love calamari and order it everywhere I go (I'm a calamari critic), I thought theirs was really good. The only thing is it's served on a bed of fresh greens so they get soggy quickly. I ordered "The Neptune" which was orzo, haddock, mussels, scallops, and diced clams with homemade tomato sauce. The haddock so so bland I didn't want to eat it. The sauce was good, but the scallops were over cooked. My fiancé ordered the prime rib and it was super salty and dry. The au jus sauce tasted like a beef bouillon cube and was gritty. I tried adding some of my water to it to try to dilute it, but it didn't help. Overall the atmosphere was incredible and so was the view, but the food was just okay. read more

I remember this building from my childhood visits to the lake - long before it was ever a restaurant. Once it was converted, I've always liked coming for lunch. In nice weather, sitting out on their docks overlooking the harbor is just beautiful. The food is good and the beer/cocktails cold and it's quiet. The wait staff have always been curtious and respectful. I have never had a problem with slow service here. My favorite meal used to be a Haddock they fried to perfection. Something about the Haddock served in this area that seems to be better than at the ocean shores. My suggestion is to stop in and have a nice meal on the dock overlooking the harbor. It's always a good spot. One of four great restaurants in Sackets that everyone should experience. They also serve locally brewed beer from the 1812 brewery that's just next door to the Boathouse. A good firendly restaurant at Sacket's harbor that isn't snobby. Had a tall SHBC 1812, a bowl of really good chowdah, and some steamed muscles that just hit the spot. Service was friendly, even chatted with the owner for a bit as they were trying new recepies. It was empty ans still kind of early when I was there, so I can't speak of what it's like later on, but I enjoyed it. read more

If you like craft beer and nice bartenders but over priced food and awkwardly spaced urinals, then the Sackets Harbor brewery is the place for you. Ambience - 5 stars. You can't beat the location, or eating on the deck over the water. People both inside and out on the deck were all having a great time. Our daughter loved yelling "ahoy" to all the boats that went by, and seeing the fish and birds was a delight for her. Food - 2.5 stars. Great menu, not so great in execution. I had a chicken sandwich with brie on ciabatta -- the chicken was extremely dry, and the roll was not up to par -- all-around disappointing. My husband had the bisque, which had great flavor and he absolutely loved it, however, I prefer bisque to be creamy (no chunks) -- this flavorful bisque was pureed, but not strained. Again, my preference, some folks might have been okay with it. Husband ordered the fish and chips, with the local fish being perch from the St. Lawrence River. Not impressed whatsoever with it, but what can you do since it's local fish. (We are from the Northwest, where salmon and halibut is the norm -- not to sound food-snobby, but it just wasn't what we had hoped for) Service - 4 stars. Good service and friendly host. Our young waitress seemed to be in training, as she had an older, more experienced time shadowing her to make sure she did things right. This was our second and possibly last meal at this establishment. The plus side: beautiful view, indoor outdoor seating, and the food i had was actually quite good. The seafood was done well and flavorful. The negative: both times the service was sub standard-no, terrible. The first time it took an hour from ordering until delivery of our food. At no point during this hour did our waitress check on us, fill/replace drinks, etc. since we have small children, we had to work pretty hard to keep them entertained during this wait as to not be rude to other diners. The second time started well, but she completely forgot one of our party's orders altogether, and forgot a side item for another. While we were waiting to get the other meal, she would just hang out behind the bar on her phone. Once we were finally served everything she didn't check out drinks or ask us if we needed anything but instead went back on her phone. When we asked for the check, same thing. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had dealing with customer service. We were forced to pay 20$ plus 18% gratuity for a dish that came out with hair in it. after checking my account days later, i discovered that they charged my card two transactions... once- 50$ for my meal and then a mysterious 57$that i did not sign for. I called the manager. she said she was busy and refused to speak with me. I was told she would call me back. 2hours later after not calling me back, I drove 45min. to the restaraunt. The manager was sitting at the bar, having a beer and still refused to see me... once again, the host took down my name and number. my husband called and they hung up on him twice. they told him it couldn't be taken care of until the next day... the next day they still didn't call and when i called them they told me that the manager said it might take her 3 days to get around to it. after we called the police, 57$ was very quickly deposited into my account read more

Day after July 4th 2016 ... No specials. 2 turf options on predominantly sea food menu and they were out of both.. No buffalo wings, they were out I guess ... Oh and funny... No manager on duty ... Waitress was indifferent and rude when asked why it took 120 minutes to get food to table, we had 2 kids under age of 8 who were starving... We usually take a group of 10 to this place every year! Possibly the worse experience service wise I've ever had. We had a reservation and while the restaurant was busy we only ordered 4 fried haddock sandwiches, a prime rib sandwich and an order of chicken tenders. It took over 1 1/2 hours to get our food. Our waitress came out at the 1 hour mark and said so sorry they are plating your food another 20 min went by and I went to talk to the manager. He proceeded to yell at me and say that I should just enjoy the nice view. He then put his hands on me and said there was nothing he could. This is beyond unexecptable. You never touch another person and as a restaurant manger you never yell at a customer. The experience was beyond ridiculous. While the food was good I will never go there again. read more

We planned a day trip to Sackets Harbor, about 90 minutes from our Syracuse area home. After a quick Yelp search for a few spots to check out, the Boathouse popped up as a good watering hole for a dockside drink. Excellent Yelp suggestion...They have a very welcoming "front porch", of brickpavers, laid out with tables and chairs for a sidewalk view if that's your choice. We headed back to the deck in the rear of the restaurant for the harbor view. The hostess asked us if we were looking for sun or shade. Nice touch in my view, we chose shade having driven our last 90 minutes with the top down and the sun up.The Boathouse deck has, in my view, the best view of the harbor, boats, and paddle boarders enjoying the water. My wife and I enjoy a good Bloody Mary and the Boathouse did not disappoint. The Bloodies were excellent. I followed mine with a Lost Coast Tangerine craft beer from a long list of choices. An app of Chipotle chips held us over for dinner later at our next stop, a few block away at the Tin Pan Alley. Boathouse is a must try when in the historic small harbor town of Sackets Harbor. read more

Nothing special honestly. We watched the tables around us receive bread and good service, while our party of two was neglected. I order the shrimp and scallop scampi which was cold and not very flavorful. My mom got the haddock sandwich with fries. The sandwich was cold and the fries were soggy. No refills on drinks were offered at all through out the night and our waitress stopped back once. My husband and I are on a mini-vacation in Sackets Harbor and wanted to try each of the restaurants in town. We first found the boathouse on Restaurant.com and purchased a gift certificate a few months before visiting. When we went to go to the Boathouse restaurant, they no longer accepted the gift certificate, but did not let restaurant.com know this. Usually I get an email from restaurant.com telling me if a restaurant no longer participates. Anyway, we decided to go try it out. The first night we had just gotten there and just wanted a cold local beer and a burger. We ordered a salad with our burger, to get in our veggies! When my husband's burger came out, it was lettuce and no chicken. So we asked for the chicken, which the waitress quickly fixed. The salad consisted of lettuce and dressing. We didn't say anything because we thought that this was just standard... until we got the bill for $2.50 each for a small portion of salad, which we thought we were substituting. Then I looked at the table next to us and they were eating a full salad with tomatoes and other vegetables. We asked the waitress if lettuce was standard for a side salad (that cost an extra $2.50) and she said no. She talked to the manager and the manager came over and rudely put the bill back on the table saying "I took a $1 off your salads, is that better?" and walked away. We looked at each other in shock.. Did she just do that at a restaurant where we were spending $40 for burgers and a beer? We decided to go back two days later, we are very forgiving!!! We sat outside, ordered a bottle of wine and enjoyed the waterview. I was interested in a veggie curry dish and asked the waitress which veggies were in it. She described it as having a number of veggies including onions, green peppers, and a few others. I asked for mushrooms and she said that it shouldn't be a problem. The dish arrived with green beans, green peas and a couple of cherry tomatoes. I couldn't believe that I was paying $16 for green beans and peas, especially when I was specifically told that it included other veggies. I brought this to the attention of the server and she said that she would talk to the manager. I told her that I didn't really want to talk to the manager if it were the same one from the night before. I knew where this would go. The manager performed as expected!!! She walked out and said "what's the problem with your dish?" in a very snotty tone. I explained how I was expecting different veggies. She said "we put whatever fresh vegetalbes are available", and I replied that the waitress should state that when asked which vegetables are included. The manager interupted me to point at the plate listing all the veggies "this has plenty of veggies, green beens, green peas, tomatoes and the..." chick peas??? those aren't veggies I told her! She interupted me again to say that there were plenting of veggies in the dish. I had to tell her that I didn't want to argue over the veggies that were in the dish, I was told that there different veggies. That should have been enough said in most restaurants. She then said in a very rude manner "so you want different veggies, what do you want?" and she listed off the veggies that I was expecting and walked off. The waitress came by to aplogize and did return with a veggie dish worthy of the price. All in all, the food was ok, the servers nice, but if you have a problem, watch out. I will never go back to that restaurant and deal with that manager again. Unless I feel the need to go pay $70 for an ok meal and have the restaurant manager treat me in a condescending and rude manner. I think I'll take my well earned money elsewhere. read more

I wish we had checked some reviews before going there. A group of eleven on a Sunday at 1:30. Called ahead and made reservations as the web page asked to be done. Got there 15 minutes early and was told we needed to wait a few minutes. 1:30 and no table. 1:45 and no table with little concern by the host as we asked for the third time. We should have left then but didn't. Told the table for us was occupied and they were almost ready to leave. Other tables could have been put together to accommodate us but was not done. At 1:50 asked for manager. He said no reservations were taken at the restaurant just preferred seating. When we called were not told that they not only took our reservation for 2 pm but when we called back and asked to change it to 1:30 said no problem at all. Manager said they would get us in as son as possible but I could tell he could have cared less. The same attitude was shared by the young man who was hosting. At 2:05 we were seated. Meanwhile we overheard the manager in the kitchen area which was open to the bar area complain to his kitchen staff that a group was complaining about making reservations and what to heck should he do. Like he cared at all. Being seated we proceeded to order. When drinks were brought out soda was served in two different size glasses at same cost. What's up with that. Lady was served a bottle of beer and had to ask for a glass. Food was served. One order was a Cobb Salad at about $14 dollars. One quarter of an egg was on the salad. I remarked to waitress and got no response. Waitress did a good job otherwise. The bill for seven of us was $127. Most likely the bill for the other four was $100. The manager did make one appearance on the deck to ask was everything okay BUT no offers of a free drink or appetizer or anything was offered to make up for the wait or attitudes. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone I know which is sad. The best advertisement is word of my mouth and this mouth says don't go there because the management doesn't care. We tipped the waitress only to her because no one else deserved a thing and I personally told the waitress how dissatisfied we were with the host and the management. Customer service is a gift that many people do not possess. read more

Terribly rude service! This is my 10th+ time to Sackets Harbor, by boat. I spent the week at the marina across the harbor and have enjoyed many restaurants in town. Tin Pan Galley is by far the best! I walked around the whole harbour just grabbing $10 bucks, planning to just grab a pizza slice. Everything was closed mid-week at 2:30pm, except you guessed it, The Boathouse. I went in and asked the waitress "would $10 be enough with tax for the $8.95 burger?" She said it would come to $9.60, I said great, I'll have the burger please. She snappily stated "in this country it is customary to leave a 15% tip!" I again explained my dilemma and that I was sorry, I'd come by later and drop her a couple of bucks. After ringing in the order she came back again and reminded me about the customary tip, and that she would have to tip out at the end of the day and be charged 7% by the establishment. She rudely told me that she was losing money serving me. I did the math in my head, and she would have to give back about 60 cents. I was going to let her keep my 40 cents change from my $10 anyways, so she was going to be short about 20 cents. Now feeling very uncomfortable, I decided to leave. I asked her to cancel my order since I did not want it to cause her a loss. I then explained to the manager what happened, and that I would not be returning tonight with my party of six, for dinner, as we were planning. He simply said "OK". I guess this establishment does not need any business, especially from those from a far away country like Canada, that does not know anything about customary tipping! Slow service. Took thirty minutes to get a drink and don't get me started on how hard it was to get a refill. Food came out cold. Had to ask for bread three times. The waiter wrote nothing down and clearly should have. By far the worst service I have ever had. Was asked multiple times during the thirty minute wait by one of the owners if anyone had helped us yet. It took one of the owners to come over three times before we actually got a waited on. Their excuse was they were busy. You had how much time to prepare and yet you justify it with "we are busy" I really would hate to see this place when they're really packed. I'd never want to go there in that atmosphere again. If anyone has been there before they know the dining room isn't that large. There was plenty of servers however they were clearly unqualified. Save your time and money and go to another restaurant in Sackets Harbor. There are plenty of other nice places to choose from in the summer and I'm sure the service will be a lot better. I would love to tell you more about the food but that was hard to enjoy being cold. read more
