This little dive bar is pretty fucking ratchet but let me tell you I went here every Tuesday night for two months and closed the place. From one American to another, there are sexy British men here who will buy you all the two for one drink deals your liver desires. Came here on our first night out in London trying to see the nightlife. After paying the core, and going downstairs, we realized we were out of our element. It seemed as if everyone here was 18, and yes I know the drinking age in the US is higher but still. All I could think of was high school hell! To quote my friend, she felt the only recourse was 'to drink until you don't notice the teeny-boppers!' Needless to say we left and went around the corner to Bourne & Hollingsworth. Shards of glass on the ground. Incredibly sticky floors. Really slow bar service. Dress is fairly casual. I went on a Thursday night and got in for £1, thanks to the mailing list. Most of the people there were probably 25+, though there were a good amount of students as well. LOTS of creepy men milling about. Great place for a few drinks during the happy hour (5pm-8.30pm) or in preparation for going out afterwards. Have been here a few times on a Friday night and have really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's slightly hidden, down some stairs which is quite useful as many walk past without realising its even there. I'd heard good things about The Roxy, so went there last year for my birthday, and really wished I hadn't. It was meant to be Rock Night, except they weren't playing rock music, and were just pandering to the mainstream Indie crowd, and when I requested some rock songs from the DJ he refused to play them. So I told him I'd sue him under Trade Description Act - it was Rock Night! (ok, maybe I'd had a few drinks by then!). The dancefloor was tiny, and toilets even more so. Didn't help that the staff weren't cleaning the toilets regularly so that by half way through the night 2 out of 4 were unusable, but weren't cleaned at all, leading to queues and mess. Horrid. I certainly won't be returning here and just regret that I wasted my birthday night there. read more

in one word, awsome it's a great place to drin and to have party u can have cocktails in a pitcher and their are very cheap ( in the happy hour even cheaper) the music is random and depends on the guests since the dj is very adaptive. one thing are the toilets in which u fell like corned beef... Leaving uni a year ago was a severe blow to the system, as it is to everyone. BUT you can hang out here, pretend to be a student without anyone being any wiser. It's a cool little place, fairly cosy with low ceilings, alright music and a raised dancefloor. Who doesn't love a raised dancefloor? Well, me, but it's nice for other people who like to make a meal out of their dancemoves. Drinks are fairly priced, particularly on Tuesdays. Granted the club itself is doggy looking when you enter. The toilet is incredibly tiny even though I love the ceiling artwork. The drinks can be cheap and the happy hour that end at 10.30 can bring people in. Like most clubs, it doesn't get busy until sometime after that and my goodness it gets busy! I have to agree not to where your best shoes as the glasses and bottles always end up on the floor and being kicked around. The floor itself is horribly sticky, which never feels great, rather it makes you feel disgusting!! BUT, after all that, the music is great!! I have been on a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. You do get that mix of old classics, top 40 hits and alternative rock. Everyone sings along and there is a good vibe overall. I found Thursday night the best catering a little more to the alternative and indie music I love. Would like to venture to more clubs in London, but I wouldn't say no to going back to The Roxy. read more

The neon sign outside looks more "Chinese takeaway" than "awesome club", but don't let that put you off; the Roxy never fails to deliver a brilliant night out. Cheap (half price) cocktails, mostly indie or retro playlist and kind of tacky vibe but young, hip and popular at the same time. Is in a small venue off Oxford Street, in a basement, and usually occupied by after work partiers. It has a club like atmosphere, but it's also nice as a bar, and sometimes do interesting themed nights. They also do bar snacks if you get the munchies. read more

This is an excellent club just off totenham court road for all lovers of indie music and golden oldies music. I love the design of the place. Up untill about 9 it is merely a bar with comfortable seeting all over. The walls are decorated in a very pop-artist way and the place is very spacious on the whole. Then at 9 the dance floor appears and the party gets started. The nice thing about the club is that it is big enough for you to go and have a chat with someone when you have had enough of the dance floor. The trick is to go just before 9 as entry as free up till then and there is usually a happy hour from 8-9. They make excellent cocktails which are reasonably priced for the central location. This place is like marmite. A bit of a student hang out, and the drinks prices are cheap in relation to the weekend entrance fee! Music is indie/alternative and the place tends to get quite busy. The floor does seem to have a habit of becoming a broken glass carpet, so don't wear your best shoes! read more

It's a fun club for the uni-age set, I liked the music selection, and they seem to have good deals on admission/drinks, but the interior atmosphere leaves something to be desired. This place is good but honestly the stuff manager dont know why have problem with me and a friend. We go in at 11 pm and we start drink and dance...all normal. after few drinks and few tips I give to staff they told me I cant drink no more because I was too drunk. But that wasn't true at all...they tell me to go away from the club at 2.30 am. The only one good is security guard was there that explain me the situation...manager don't want my explanations about the fact and she just tell us to go away...I don't think I come back again because we spend like 50£ each to be treated rude. read more

Fun night out not too hard on the wallet and good crowd!!

Great atmosphere on Friday night. Many happy, if not slightly tipsy, folks from the nearby areas having a good time, dancing to indie numbers. I did not expect to hear Firestarter and I Want To Dance With Somebody played anymore, but to my pleasant surprise, the DJ played these. However, he could do better playing songs from different decades seamlessly with more remixing. You can't really dance to Snoop Doggy Dog one minute and then to Madonna's Like A Prayer next. It screws the flow. Having said that, we came home happy, and you can tell the clients are regular customers, which is a good indication of a club. read more

Now I don't want to be biased here, but I can't help it. I came into The Roxy expecting music and drinking and nothing but an endless night of fun, but I got the complete opposite. Maybe it's just me, but from the doormen to the experience, I was not content. First off, the doormen are very rude to begin with and end with, considering one of them grabbed me for attempting to leave the establishment. Overall, this place is ok. Would I come back? Definitely not after the experience I've had. Do I recommend? If you want mediocre throwbacks then sure. The drinks are decently priced as well. The Roxy is a good environment with good music and the dance floor can be fun. However the staff is not very friendly and their ID verification process is completely absurd. Their deal on pitchers of alcohol is a also a complete scam. They put in "alcohol" from unlabeled bottles and apparently their version of a long island ice tea is coca cola with a splash of tequila flavoring. I was completely unaffected after drinking a pitcher to myself, if you go just make sure they use labeled alcohol bottles for your drinks. read more

We got here at 2.10am - the club closes at 3.30am but they wouldn't let us in, even after friends who were downstairs came upstairs to get us. They claimed that the "entry doors close at 2am and no one can come in after that". The bouncers were INCREDIBLY rude and lied about taking the entry TV screen down. This club can be a bit pricey to get into considering that it is so small and, to be honest, quite cheesy. However I've always had fun here, the music played is pretty varied with your average cheese like Guns 'n' Roses and Madonna and then more indie stuff such as Belle and Sebastian. To be honest I have no idea how much drinks are as I've only ever gone here drunk, but I do know that they serve cocktails. There's not that much choice besides that though, with only the basic spirits and bottles being served (for example, when I asked for Sailor Jerry they didn't have it.) The crowd is quite mixed in terms of age and from Monday to Friday consists mainly of people going straight from work. read more

Honestly, this is one of the worst places I've been to in my entire life. I would definitely not recommend this to people who are trying to enjoy their night in London. The staff is incredibly rude, especially the manager. They do not respect people waiting in line, and once we get up to the line they tell us to leave for no particular reason. That is not the way to handle yourself as a credible establishment. I would give this zero stars if I could just for the poor performance and inappropriate mistreatment we received on multiple occasions. This is the worst club me and my friends have ever been to: the music is unbelievably awful with barely any room to dance because of the amount of people squeezed in; the drinks and entry fee are massively expensive; the staff are exceptionally rude and unhelpful and clear your overpriced drinks away before you've even finished them with no apology. Absolutely avoid this venue. While it once was a fun student nightclub it now feels like a cynical money-making scheme run by people who couldn't care less about music or their customers. read more
