We had a beautiful, amazing evening until we walked into Simmons Monument -- and the experience completely ruined the end of our night. A staff member named Olivia was standing at the bar on her phone, ignored me and my fiancé while we were calling her, and refused to serve us. She was positioned at the bar as if she was working, yet another staff member claimed she was "on her break," which made no sense and felt like an excuse to cover her behaviour.What made the situation even worse was that Olivia physically pushed me and my fiancé twice, without any warning, despite us never being asked to move and other staff walking past without any issue. The way she behaved made me feel genuinely abused, disrespected, and completely dismissed, and no one in the venue took it seriously when we tried to raise it.When we approached the manager, Sam, he refused to give his last name and stood there with his arms crossed, giving a dismissive, cocky attitude instead of addressing the situation. Another staff member also showed no concern at all.Being ignored, pushed, lied to, and then dismissed by management is completely unacceptable. This raises serious concerns about staff conduct, training, and customer safety at this venue. Would avoid at all costs. read more

A group of six of us girls came to Simmons on Wednesday night and it was great!! Although the bartenders weren't the most kind, one of the employees, Mario, was so kind, helpful, attentive, and made us feel super safe!! Would definitely come back just for service from Mario- always refreshing to find someone like that in a bar scene that can sometimes be sketchy! Love everything about this bar, except one thing - the toilets. Every time I go there's always a pool of water in the ladies in the cubicles and general not great to visit them. Enough about the toilets, what is good, I ask?! So many things. The staff are super friendly and chatty, with good bants. The cocktail menu is to die for, so many quirky and interesting options. My personal favourite is the jamble, which is a bramble with a twist - jam - and served up in a teacup. It's pure deliciousness and I could happily drink loads of these. Price wise, happy hour is 4-9 and two cocktails for £10, which for the quality and it being in kings cross is bargaintastic!!! The venue is quirky with a disco ball, neon sign and old school desks for tables. It feels like it should be in shoreditch, but damn I'm glad it's in kings cross, my total go to place for a cocktail. Really friendly bar tenders, so much nicer than certain places who seem to exclusively employ staff to make you feel stupid for not being as hipster as they are (ahem Shoreditch) Cheap cocktail prices for central London - at happy hour you can get two for £10, and they are really good! This place was so cute. Traveling from out of London, my friends and I had no idea where to go for drinks. After looking around on google for awhile we came across this place! It was about 20 minutes from where we were, but it was sooo worth it. Teapots filled with alcohol and the BEST happy hour starting at 4pm, we loved it! It's quite small but it does have a downstairs with more seating and a GREAT selection of drinks! The bartender was rad, and the music was great. I do wish they had some pretzels or chips or any food really, but the par-tea-pot was just amazing. Highly recommend! read more

This a lovely quirky little bar. It is a little bit like drinking in someone's living room but I really like that. This place is pretty small and it can get quite packed. It's never claustrophobic though. The worst thing is trying to queue for the bar when it is really busy. It is quite narrow and they only had a couple of people serving but they do have good cocktails and a decent happy hour which runs from 5pm to 9pm every night including Fridays. During this time is really good value with a single shot and mixer, a small glass or wine or a beer for just £2.50 and all cocktails are two for one. There is a nice happy atmosphere here and it is definitely a place I will visit again. read more

SimmonS is a little tea room/coffee bar/bar/club here in Kings Cross. Its the perfect place to come with your friends in the daytime and have a pot of tea and a cupcake and then at night for a pot of lager and a mug of nuts. I hesitate to even post a review of this place because I liked it so much and I don't want it to be overrun by horribleness. I must have walked past it a million times while in Kings X and never even knew it was a bar. There is a happy hour (£2.50 for drinks - bottles of beer, house wine, and cheap mixers from 5 to 9pm M-F) which makes me like a place almost immediately. I can forgive a lot when cheap booze is involved. People appear to book tables on Friday evenings, and the basement was closed for a private function so we didn't get to explore that. But it's very cozy and the staff is great. If there had been more people standing, it would have been too hot and crowded to be bearable. Fortunately, we seemed like the only people who didn't realize you should book space ahead of time, so we just crammed ourselves into a corner until one of the reserved tables didn't show up. I am a fan of Simmons and it's quirky style but recently it's style has changed. It used to be an establishment where you felt like you were drinking in someones front room with lots of kitsch memorabilia around. There is still some of that but they have blocked off the kitchen and sprussed it up a bit that there is now a proper bar, the retro video games are no longer there and it is just different. It is still a nice place to go for a cocktail though, especially one served in a tea cup. Not too expensive but more than some. Now you can take a seat at an old school desk and have a beverage and still enjoy but with a little more nostalgia if you were a fan previously!! I have used their basement room for a party and recommend it for a small and dark gathering, the room now has a front door!! Anyway, recommended but has changed!! xyz read more

I've been eyeing this place up for a while - it looked cosy and dark and mildly seedy. Maybe a bit like the Brown Derby, but cosier. A good place to sit back with a cocktail or more. Handy for the station too - no late night trudge across london. Finally got the chance to call in with a friend, but was underwhelmed. Going to Simmons was totally an accident. I was meeting a friend for drinks before dinner, and we were going to hit up a nearby pub, but unfortunately the pub hadn't opened yet. So I got a text telling me to meet her at Simmons. So they have a great weekday happy hour consisting of two for £10 cocktails. So we tried a selection. And they were all fairly tasty. So that was pretty awesome. The bartender was friendly (and cute), and it turns out that I got a free shot for checking in on Yelp so I totally took advantage of that. The decorations are eclectic. I checked in on Yelp to get a free shot--but ended up re-gifting to a friend who was willing to drink the well tequila. Service was OK. The only attitude I got was when I got the free shot. Sorry it's just the truth fans! - Decor is quirky but woe betide you if you get there after the post-work crowd, as it's a small venue upstairs (20 odd seats) and a downstairs area that is regularly full for groups. - Music frequently too loud to hear yourself, or anyone else, talk. My friend rented out the basement area for her 25th birthday party. I admit I'm a bit apprehensive of bars that seem to try to all ironic and kitschy-kool, but despite all the beards present, I was presently surprised by this little find. We had the downstairs area with a private bar where we could set our own playlists and do whatever we want, so that was great. We had a few games going on the vintage Sega Megadrive and the decor and lighting downstairs is pretty cool. The cocktails were a delicious hit, especially the ones served out of china tea sets (individual tea cup cocktails are a bit pricey for the amount you get, but if you get a teapot that's a pretty good deal). The bar staff we had downstairs were nice and efficient enough, they do seem to give off a 'too-cool-for-school-vibe' but they weren't nasty about it, so no qualms there. It does seem to get pretty busy on a weekend evening so bear that in mind, but it definitely works for private celebrations! read more

This is a great find, a gorgeous grotto of vintage eclecticism with good service and a friendly attitude thrown in. I love the fruit beers and the DJ's in the evening and the cupcakes and tea on vontage china during the day. This is the first pub I've loved in London. The DJs play great music, the happy hours are great and they have supercute teapot cocktails - try the strawberry cheesecake it's amazing. The only issue is that I went one Saturday night and there were two hen parties happening so there wasn't much room on the dance floor, but that couldn't be helped. Came here for happy hour, and as promised, there were cheap drinks and a nice vibe. Lots of people on a Thursday night, but not too crowded - my friend and I were able to find a place to sit. We first had Long Island Iced Teas which were pretty good, but had a bit too much non-alcohol in them. Then I had the house bourbon with coke, and the amount of alcohol was pretty minimal unfortunately. However it was only 2.50 so you can't really complain too much. All in all it was a cool place - we left around 10 and people were starting to dance; on that note, the music was fantastic, a mix of old and new and many of my favorite songs were played. read more
